Nice campsite. We did an overnighter here. Good facilities. Scullery and dining area and separate bathroom. Owner came to say hi, really nice chap. We did pur own cooking.

Report Check-In

We don't use the campsite. But it looks very ok ( own ablution, covered area for relaxing and rain). We booked a room. The room and the food are very ok. We don't miss anything. The owner told about the situation in Sambia. Very friendly staff.

Report Check-In

A really good city campsite with a restaurant and bar. The prices are reasonable and we feel comfortable. We stay there for 2 days.
Andreas, the owner, is nice and can tell us a lot about his time here in Zambia. Of course, he also has some good tips for us, which we are happy to pick up.

Report Check-In

Simply terrible! We didn’t camp as it was raining. We took a room which was really bad. Nothing really worked (no hot water, bedding was dirty, fan was broken, infested by mosquitos). Maybe the camping is better. But the rooms were really bad!

Report Check-In

Due to depreciation of the local currency the prices are now stated in USD. Camping $6/pax, Chalet $15/2-3pax. Free firewood and Wifi at restaurant.

Report Check-In

Excellent! we spent 2 nights here in a little house for 300Zkw and had an interessting evening with Andreas . thanks for all your Information.

Report Check-In

Perfect stopover. I think we were lucky to be one of the first to use the renovated spots; beautiful setup with roofed bbq and washing up area with camping table, and indoor private ablutions. Andreas was very helpful in getting us the required information about road conditions in South and North Luangwa after the first rain.

Report Check-In

We slept 2 nights in the room for 250kw. Room ok, check the mosquito net before. It can have a lot of big holes. Not a lot of pressure in the shower but it was hot. And the place is nice with a garden, a bar and à restaurant. The food was good but....it takes sooooo much time to come. 1h30 each time. Even when they say 30 minutes. And every time i had to go to the kitchen to ask where was my food and there were like "its coming...what did you order ?" If you want to eat order at leat 2h before....

Report Check-In

Andreas the owner has started to renovate the campsites and facilities. She has known since four and five is already finished there is a new shower and a new toilet,There is also a covered area to wash up and have a barbecue.

Report Check-In

We were stuck here for 10 days when our car was stuck in the bush. The accommodation itself is old and outdated but staff still tries their best to make it comfortable. They have amazing food!! If you drive by on a travel day, definitely stop here for proper lunch or dinner!

Report Check-In

Bayama is a reliable stop on the long road between Lusaka and the north. The ablutions work, but need upgrading. There is a restaurant with a limited menu. There is shade, trestle tables and running water at sites.

Report Check-In

Decent camping spot, next to a bus depot- little bit of noise. Ablutions were not great so they opened a room for us to shower/use the toilet. Hot water ran out the same night 🥺 Still ZMW100/pppn. We didn’t eat at the restaurant. Friendly host Andreas, with many dogs. Safe.

Report Check-In

An absolutely beautiful place for stopover. Andrea's is great nice to sit and chat Room was okay no hot shower but expected as raining and solar power use. Nice breakfast too

Report Check-In

Nice and green oasis on our way south. Hot and clean shower. Great restaurant with good food and cold beer. The german owner Andreas is super friendly and helpful. He helped us to sort out some minor car issues. Price for camping is still 100 kwacha ppn. We would definitly come back.

Report Check-In

As described K100 ppn. Nothing special. The ablutions were out if order so they offert us to use the chalets bathroom. It was dirty and stinky (lot of Iron in the water). Good for one night after the bad road.

Report Check-In

Everything as described. Andrew was quite welcoming to our team as we arrived late at night.

Report Check-In

Bayama's Lodge, Restaurant and Camping pulled through the last 2 covid seasons and is at your services again. Enjoy camping @ K100pppn. Chalets and restaurant are fully operational. visit www-bayama-de for more info

Report Check-In

Not sure why everyone is raving about this place..
Its really not worth the money. After a long week of cycling we wanted to have a nice place to rest and a hot shower but for 250kwacha (cheapest option) we got a cold shower that barely ran, a bed full of black bits of ashes(???) and a towel that seemed like someone bled over it. Very disappointing.

Report Check-In

Nice place! We stayed in one of the cheapest rooms and that was absolutely ok. Room and bathroom were very clean. Bed was comfy. Restaurant ok, cold beer and a lot of locals. Andreas and Peggy are super friendly people. After all worth a stay.

Report Check-In

Only went to the restaurant for a pizza. Decent sized and tasted ok. Took a looong time to get it, over an hour. But probably the best there is in Mpika.

Report Check-In

Great place for a stopover in Mpika Town with a well stocked bar & restaurant. They opened a chalet for us to use toilet and shower. We had a nice chat with the owner.

Report Check-In

Good place for a stopover in Mpika, but campsite is nothing special. You can camp in between the cabins and use 1 of them for shower and toilet (which are very basic). Restaurant is good and serves good pizza's.

Report Check-In

Camping is definitely possible! As described we payed 100Kwspp and they open a Chalet for showering. We stayed at the same site as in May. And they told us it was open all the time..... perhaps a misunderstanding.

Report Check-In

I stayed all in all five nights on the campsite of Bayama's Lodge on my way north and on my way back. Got the key of a chalet to use the ablution and hot shower.

I enjoyed it very much, a nice oasis, friendly staff, well maintained, located in the heart of Mpika. Don't miss the market, which is only approx. 2km away and very picturesque.
The restaurant is great as well and pretty cheap. Try the pizza! Beer only 15 Kwacha.

Report Check-In

The place was build long time ago, and is not aging well!
You get better value for money at the lodges along the highway.
They wanted to charge me 300 Kw for a very basic room, which is far overpriced.

Report Check-In

After talking to the owner, the campsite is still closed and the lodge only fits big rigs lower than 3.4 meters so we went to the Landmark Hotel

Report Check-In

The campsite was closed due to covid, so we stayed in one of the chalets. Very cheap rates at 200zkw, and you get what you pay for. There was no water in the bathroom so they moved us to another unit. Luckily there was water, but shower drain was blocked. The matress was laid out and not pleasant. The unit itself was dirty and falling apart. It sounded like the roof was going to blow off. There are also allot of crows constantly making noise.
We left the place and booked ourself in at Northern Rock hotel across the main road. We payed 500zkw and the place is much cleaner and more modern. I won't recommend Bayama's, even though it is very cheap. It is well worth going there for a pizza as it was very tasty.

Report Check-In

Camping basic shower challenging because valves sending of electricity .... but not hot water. Price 100kz per person. Restaurant with excellent pizza, .breakfeast possible.

Report Check-In

we had a nice time there. Andreas very friendly and giving good advices on the surroundings. he himself is an overlander;) as said, we paid only the first night. good pizzas at the restaurant.

Report Check-In

Good stop over point, pizzas and chips from restaurant are pretty good and reasonably priced. Campers only pay for first night (KWH70pp) and then next nights are free. Showers water pressure is minimal.

Report Check-In

Very spacious and clean rooms. We paid ZMK250 for the night for 2 adults and a 2 year old. Included a complimentary continental breakfast of an egg and 2 pieces of toast with tea/coffee.

Had no ribs to spare for dinner, but the pizza was nice. T bone steak was tough. Drinks very reasonably priced at ZMK10 each for a beer or cooldrink.

Report Check-In

Good place, friendly German owner. Water has much iron, not potable. Camping 70 K ppn, great pizza 70 K large, 50 K small. The gate was high enough for our 335 cm high Iveco.

Report Check-In

Bayama's is a very nice and safe place. being a cycle tourist I generally tried not to pay for camping but I felt the 60 kwacha for the 3 nights I stayed was reasonable. the camp spot has a power outlet showers and a toilet. all you need and more. Also a great place to meet other travellers! definitely recommend staying here if you are passing threw Mpika.

Report Check-In

Amazing lodge nice staff reasonable pricing lovely food I totally recommend it

Report Check-In

60Kw pppn. Good restaurant attached with low costs beers (for a lodge bar) 10kw each.
Spare ribs with chips - 60KW
Pizza was surprisingly good and satisfied our cravings!

Ablutions are a little odd, but functional. Firewood provided.

Mpika has a disproportionate number of auto-spares shops and we managed to get some oil and diesel filters for our Landy here.

Report Check-In

Great decor and setup in the restaurant and bar and Andreas is a friendly guy with lots of advice! Good food with good portions! Still same good deal of Kw50 first night and up to 6 free. Down side was that the showers did not work and the shower I could use in a room was cold, also no toilet seats....but otherwise an amazing oasis in a rather bleak town.

Report Check-In

Nice place to camp (6 nights for the price of one, 5$). Hot shower, good pizza and cold beer!

Report Check-In

Big rigs below 3.4m high max. We moved to the Agriculture place on the other side of the highway which was excellent for one night. Friendly staff.

Report Check-In

I confirm all last comment.
50kw pppn.
Electricity and water in the campsite, table, hot shower and toilet.
Nice place to stop.

About WiFi he told me: not working...

Report Check-In

Great stopover, good flat area for rtt and general camping. Clean ablutions and warm water. Electricity on site and light and free firewood. All topped of by just 50zk pp and then ‘stay as long as you like’, is how the guy who showed us around put it!

Report Check-In

Good place to pitch your tent, owner is very friendly and camping is still the same price at K50 per night. Shower could have more pressure. Firewood available.

Report Check-In

Only big rigs less than 3.4m high will fit there. We couldn’t stay because the height of our vehicle (3.7m) wouldn’t allow us to fit through the gate.

Report Check-In

In general I would definitely recommend this place. Nice bar/restaurant area, cold beer, friendly owners Andreas and Peggie, good food, large portions, cheap camping.

On the down side, shower wasn’t working, no WiFi, ablutions not clean... but just let the owners know and they’ll be happy to take care of the problem.

All in all, I thought this was a really nice place to relax for a couple of days (and get my car fixed). You pay the first night and stay for free the next night(s), which I thought is a really good deal. Chalets start at 200 Kw.

Report Check-In

Stayed 1 night, 50kwacha pp.
They have signs saying not external food or drink can be bought in, but we ate lunch at the restaurant (meals approx $6 pp) , and cooked our own dinner and no one complained.
Campsite nice with it's own ablution block, tap, power points, and sheltered picnic bench. Water pressure wasn't working so they gave us a key to a room to shower.
They said the Wi-Fi was broken.

Report Check-In

The newly built ablution block for campers, endless hot water and decent john's...

Report Check-In

Camping is free, Power on-site. WiFi not working when we where there. No shade on sites. Still a great place even if they would charge money. Nice bar & restaurant. We bought our drinks and ate there although we have our own food and drinks. Its a give and take.

Report Check-In

Camping is free! Ablution block with toilets and hot showers. Electricity, water at tap. Wall fenced, well landscaped area of Bayama's Lodge with chalets and good restaurant.

Report Check-In

It is true that camping is free, but we got in late and so opted for a room at 200kw which included breakfast so we thought was a pretty good deal. Shower worked well in the evening but not so good the next morning, hot water though. Really good restaurant with great local options starting from 20kw per person and included heaps of food. Ended up being pet friendly after explaining how well behaved our dogs were and we were told they could sleep on the bookshelf, some confusion obviously but they didn't care as long as there was no mess.

We were told Internet was included but they kept putting off giving us the code, by the morning we finally spoke to the owner and told that the WiFi wasn't connected to the Internet so was pointless us having the code, but he did hot spot his mobile phone so we could send emails etc.

Report Check-In

Great place. Perdect stop over coming in from Tanzania (we drove from Mbeya, was stuck at the border for 4 hrs, but still managed to make it to this lodge in good time). Clean, affrodable, good food, friendly service.

Report Check-In

Very friendly German owner that showed us the camp spot on his lodge property. Small, cleaned abblution block and overnighting was free of charge!

Report Check-In

Small campground near to lodge , electricity available, camping for free, we got dinner in the Restaurant (average, cold meat...)

Report Check-In

Free camping!!!! Next to a lodge. Nice restaurant and bar, reasonably priced. Double rooms too from Kw220. Nice Dutch & Zambian owners.
