here you can hike up to the etna volcano. because the cable car is so expensive (50€), we just walked 2-3 hours up to the upper station. from there we walked another 1-2 hour up to 2900m. all for free. no guide or tour needed. another 2 hours down to the parking lot. yes, the trail starts under the cable car.
