Peru
Incredible archeological site ! Must see. And the best, it's FREE
4x4 strongly recommended not easy for big rigs less than 6 tons ok
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
There was no problem riding the road with our two (small) bikes, we've seen a couple of local 2wd getting up here but I would recommend coming here with a 4wd (the road is steep and sometimes rocky) and with a not too big vehicle as the route is narrow.
Anyway we thought it was well worth it to come here! After you park you walk 15/20 minutes to the ruins which are very cool. A man came to us just to let us write down our names and passport numbers, he didn't ask for any money. it's very quiet here, we were the only visitors!
update May 2023: we only made it half way up with our 5,6 meter long Sprinter. the way up is newly made until where we got. We walked the remaining part and got rewarded with a great partially rebuild inka ruin village. there was no one there to collect the 7s entrance fee. the hike further up the mountain on an old inka path is gorgeous
Report Check-InEntrance is now 7 soles per person. Very steep hairpin turns, not for big rigs.
Report Check-InAMAZING PLACE.
must be seen!! no crowd and almost for free. we didnt pay since nobody was at the entrance gate.
possibly to sleep in the flat parking lot.
absolutely recommended
Very neat looking site tucked away in the middle of nowhere up a steep mountain. There was a guy mowing the lawn there and wanted 22 soles per person as extranjeros, he had proper receipts so it looked legitimate. We talked him down to 2 tickets at 10 soles per person student price but didn't have exact change. Walked around the site but didn't go in, beautiful views around it
Would make an excellent wild camp spot, large flat area and no one around
