Argentina
Today the border is pain in ass. Many people wrote that it's OK and fast but we were not so lucky and we waited like five hours in some nonsense line, many busses and privileged (probably using bribes) cars passed before us. It's like huge chaos, police sending us to unspecified places to wait, many drivers fined for minor problems. Plan ur journey well, if u r more people, u can use the time for buying stuff in nearby shops meanwhile the driver waits in line and moves in the line, make sure to have all the necessary documents
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Everything well, we passed the imigration very fast without problem. No check of the van. I think it was matter of luck.
Report Check-IniOverlander is not a personal space for you to complain about your bad day. There is an existing pin where you can share relevant border crossing information, which is helpful to others.
Report Check-InWe crossed from Argentina to Bolivia on a Sunday afternoon without any waiting. The whole process Laster about 30 minutes.
We (as EU citizens) got a 30 days permit and our car with european registration got a 180 days permit.
If you plan to head directly to Tupiza be aware that there is a toll/peage out off town and you can ONLY pay in Bolivianos. There are ATMs in Villazon where you can get Bolivianos straight away.
Worst border ever !!!!
Traveled since Canada and never had such of situation.
Border open 6.30 but you have to walk to town ( 1km) or get a taxi ( 25 p)
But on Saturday insurance agency's can't proceed insurance for foreigner cars have to wait Monday !
After have been to 5 agency's I couldn't get any insurance for my car .
I explained the situation to the boss at the border and as we are going to spend just 2 days then go to chile he let us pass with a document.
Chapter 2 the scan :
After obtain the authorization , need to check the car with the aduana.
They have a big scan truck and ask med us to empty all the car !!!!
A scan is suppose to verify what's inside the car if IAM right no ???
And finally all the luggages and stuff that we took off haven't been checked by anyone .
There were really not Nice at all !
Good luck everyone
Arrived at 5 am left at 12 pm
Argentina border. First go to migration then to aduana. Canadians must first pay reciprocity fee of 78 USD in advance, and print paper to show migration. There are internet cafes in Villazón to do this, fifteen minutes walk from border.
