Got our insurance here. Friendly lady who speaks French.
Unclear what the insurance exactly covers and how the rate is calculated, she couldn't explain why she put us in a certain category for example. Parked in front of the office.

ATA sign above the office. Got here 1 month (same price for 1 day up to 30 days) insurance for 9000cfa for a 4x4. Guys spoke a bit English as well.

he put us in category 2 because we are a van (van) and this is bigger than a car. After I came up with more papers than Cart the gris, the price went up.

He relies on Wikipedia (something like Belgium calculator for cv) to calculate the CV. not on the KW or HP but the engine capacity 2.8l.

the prix comes from +61000 they have 40% to negotiate.

We got insurance here (carte brune and carte rose) for 6 months for roughly 33000 cfa. We have a Volkswagen LT 4x4 and but we showed the guy the internet information about the Cheval fiscale (cv) on which the insurance is calculated.
Very easy process, 20 minutes we were done.

One word about the more expensive insurance. We were quoted the higher prices as well (in excess of 100k cfa) but that was for a more comprehensive coverage. In the main AXA place a couple of blocks away they quoted that more comprehensive insurance by default, here the cheaper one. Nonetheless, this place was the cheapest! And all seems legit.

We got 6 months West Africa (two cards, brown and rose) for a 4x4 Merc sprinter campervan (2.7 litre) for 45872cfa. had previously tried both the other places and been quoted 129k and 110k so this seemed like a bargain. The young girl served us and we did also wonder if it was a mistake (as overlandbirds suggest) but we have the paper work and it lists the countries so all seems fine.

Got carte brun and carte rose for 42.500 cfa valid three months. Landrover Defender. Took 15 minutes. Great spot. Don’t buy the insurance at the border.

Get your insurance here and not at the border!! 16000 CFA for 2 months all the way to Cameroon. Super easy process, takes about 15 minutes.

Cost us 23,000 CFA for 3 months for a Toyota Hilux. Took about 30 minutes and one lady spoke English. Also note that the insurance covered all the way down to and including Congo (not DRC), which saved us having to buy more in Cameroon.
