Description

Expensive hotel with options for parking/cyclists. Beautifully equipped. A treasure on the laguna route. After 4 days riding without shower and very basic overnights we checked in here and did not regret it.

Latest Check-Ins

After reading previous reviews we were a bit trepidatious about coming here, but we were fortunate enough to have a good experience (i think the fact there were only a couple of other guests at the hotel helped a lot).

There’s a little extension that’s been added to the cyclists dorm, and when we were there it was clean and perfect for our needs. Toilet and shower (no warm water, but we expected that). Sink in the laundry room about 5 metres from the dormitory. 50BOB per person.

We paid 45BOB for a continental breakfast and it wasn’t bad, although we had to remind them it was meant to come with eggs.

Took water from the tap and filtered it. It’s a little salty but won’t kill you until you get to the next water source.

Overall was very happy to spend the night here rather than in the tent as it was very gusty.

Report Check-In

staying here was a quite strange experience. we were four cyclists. we stayed in the room for cyclists. payed 50 bob per person. the room has four mattresses with some dusty blankets and has not been cleaned for quite some time. the bathroom had no water, the last user of the toilet seemed to have no water to flush. we were told to use the common toilets (that were very clean) and the shower in the toilet building. we were told, the shower is hot. it did not get warm. we were told, it will get hot after letting the water run for 20 minutes (eco hotel?). after 10 min another person told us, it will not get warm at all. don't expect to have a warm shower here.
communicating with the staff was a bit strange. but we asked for dinner and breakfast and they showed us a menu. there were no other guests in the hotel. we could sit in the basic restaurant room (there seems to be another nicer one too). dinner was 55 bob + 15 for soup. because of the lack of lightbulbs we had to use our headlamp to see the food they served, which was ok, but not the best.
the american breakfast was 55 bob and very meager.
we had electricity in the room.
all in all we can't really recommend this place. compared to other places on the lagunas route and their service and hospitality it is quite expensive and a bit unfriendly.
if you don't need a room/cold shower/food here, we recommend staying at hotel desierto, which is much much more comfortable and includes an amazing breakfast.

Report Check-In

Do not rely on this place for anything. We are three cyclists and they refused to even let us camp near the complex because they had guests later. They reluctantly sold us water for 15BOl for 2L. They even got angry with us for walking into the main reception. About to cycle on to find somewhere very cold to camp.

Report Check-In

Cyclists: small change from Andrea's post. The cyclists room now has 3 mattresses and one empty concrete base. The room now has a toilet, sink, tap and a hot shower that apparently takes 10min to get hot. We didn't try, it was extremely cold in the room. They now charge 50BOB (for 2) for this. In general we have the impression they want to keep the cyclists away from the regular guests. After we cooked our own dinner we wanted to have a drink in the hotel, but they did not want us to sit in the main dining area where 2 guests were having dinner. Other cyclists we met had the same impression. A bit of a strange atmosphere because of this. It's a pitty, cause they seem to have affordable dinner and bfast options on their menu. Probably should have kept going, but the days are cold and windy.

Report Check-In

Super helpful staff. We arrived asked for accommodation. They were full but let us stay in a very very basic room for free. It had lots of dust and a pretty warm shower. Able to have a basic meal also. There were keen to keep us separate from the paying guests, which was okay as they went above and beyond in my opinion.

I dont know what happens with the prices in the histories. I was thinking to sleep here but the “chica” told me that is U$ 170 dollars for a night. Im alone and with a motorcycle. The place has a really small shop the can save a lot. I will go foward to find something cheaper and less touristic.

Report Check-In

Cyclists here! The folks working here are so kind. They welcomed us and showed us the room we’re cyclists can sleep for free. Amazing!

As said in the last comment, the room has 2 single mattresses and no bathroom. The are also two single concrete bases for two other mattresses but they were empty when we were there. You could put your mat there tho.

The plugs worked when we were there! (Yay!) We brought our bikes inside. There’s a spigot (water a bit salty) by the restrooms and we filled up at night since the pipe freezes overnight.

Super happy we got to be inside. It was super windy and cold outside.

Report Check-In

2 cyclists, we stayed in a room that wasn't ready to be rented out so we could stay there for free. Dusty, no light, no bathroom, but it had three beds and we could use a shower for 10bol pp. Dinner still 20$. 10$pp for nice breakfast and 2L water for 15bol. People were nice.

Report Check-In

stayed in what they called the room for ciclistas, 5 beds in a small room, pretty basic, 30b, included use of baños which is a short walk (pain at night) but shower was 10b extra. very nice staff. bottled water ("agua dulce") for sale 15b/2L. the taps give you salty water from the lake that probably isn't good even after boiling.

gorgeous location with thousands of flamingos and nice to not have to stake a tent in the afternoon gales.

Report Check-In

Very nice hotel at a beautiful location: right at the lake with many flamingo’s. There are only 2 options: a bunk bed in an unheated room that smells (30 BOL pp and 20 BOL for a hot shower) or an upscale room with view over the lake (160 USD for a matrimonial, incl breakfast). Camping was not possible. Dinner is 20 USD pp. After negotiations, we paid 130 USD for a matrimonial, incl dinner. We enjoyed it a lot. Dinner and breakfast are great! Especially when you imagine that you are in the desert. Only remark is that its a bit cold in the hotel at this time of year.

Report Check-In

After cycling from the Hotel del Desierto we have arrived at this pseudo-eco-hotel in the rain. We asked them for accommodation but they were booked out. Thus, we asked them to offer us an alternative room or corner we could use to lie down but they insist that didn't have anything. At this stage we asked them to stay at the reception for a while in order to figure out the situation but they didn't let us do so. Moreover, they literally said that this Hotel is for exclusive people and we couldn't stay at all. They treated us like dogs. We have been cycling for 3 months through Latin America and it is the first time we've been humiliated like this.

Report Check-In

Lovely hotel, professionally run. Lovely 3 course dinner ($20USD) served extremely professionally and a delicious, beautifully presented breakfast included in room price. (Room price we were asked to pay was $160USD)
On arrival we were tired, it was too windy to camp and it’s a very high altitude, so we gave ourselves a treat and we enjoyed everything at this hotel. Warm cosy, comfortable beds, Views of flamingoes from the bedroom windows, spotless rooms, mate served at 5pm for house guests.
As they only have power on for part of the day, wifi is still only on from 6-10pm. It’s fast though!

Great location on the ruta de las lagunas. Big rooms with heating and private bath, big beds with warm blankets. Dinner in the restaurant was great, breakfast too. If you pay by credit card, they add 3% to the bill. If you pay cash in BOB: Be careful with the exchange rate they offer. They wanted to cheat us badly, telling us, this rate was because it's a desert... Of course it is a desert and of course the goods are more expensive, but the exchange rate?

Report Check-In

Great place. They didn't have any rooms available but they offered us their bunk house which has 5 beds close together. It cost us 30bol pp plus 10bol pp for a shower, which was hot. It's solar powered so better to use in the late afternoon/early evening. Wait 5-6min for the hot water to come through. They do not supply towels. Beds were very comfy and warm with lots of blankets.

Initially we started cooking outside but the guy told us to go into the bunk house which was really nice as it was quite windy.

The lady told us dinner was 40USD. I confirmed this a few times and apparently that is the price. Breakfast is between 20-40BOL from basic to a proper big breakfast. Coffee is 10BOL.

If you want to camp it is free. Wifi is 20BOB per 15mins. No phone service here on Entel or TIGO. We just enjoyed the lack of connectivity and enjoyed the scenery! They also allowed our friend to bring her dog in with no issues.

Staff are very friendly. Highly recommended if you want a proper bed for the night and a hot shower.

Report Check-In

We got here and asked about rooms but they were all booked. Apparently rooms are 150BOB pp including wifi and breakfast. Luckily the guy was really lovely and asked if we wanted to use their bunk house. It has 5 beds in a small building. We payed 30pp plus and additional 10pp for a hot shower (solar heated so recommend use in the afternoon/early evening). The beds were comfortable with lots of blankets. We started cooking outside but then the guy said we could cook inside the bunk house which was great as it was windy. Toilets were clean and had toilet paper!

If you want to buy dinner it is 40USD pp and breakfast is 20-40BOB pp depending on what you want. Coffee is 10BOB. The basic breakfast at 20BOB is bread, coffee, juice and spread.
The people here were so hospitable and nice.
If you want to camp near the restaurant it is free.

CYCLISTS : we had a very strong wind all day long and arrived here. They let us camp inside the restaurant and were very well... tables chairs... ! Friendly staff. They gave us water to cook. 10bol to have access to the toilets.

Report Check-In

Drove into the complex this afternoon and asked for a room, price for the cheapest double has gone up to $150 usd, not negotiable as the unfriendly manager says it is a five star hotel and worth the new rate. Meals extra, view of the lake and flamingos - free. Would have paid the 300bol but Couldn't see the value so we drove on to camp.

Report Check-In

Matrimonials 150 USD, Basic rooms (with private bath) 150 BOL PP. Breakfast included (pancake, bread, jam, yoghurt, juice, tea, coffee). Supper mains 75 Bol pp. Lots of thick quilts on the beds. Possible to pay with Visa or MC, 3% charge applies.

Report Check-In

Incredibly professional owner Samuel, truly exception in Bolivia. We paid 300 bolivianos per double room, the cheaper one, in the corridor. The heating is almost zero, 0C in the room in night, but everything else was amazing. We went for dinner, asked for a llama and a vegetable omelete, but were offered 2 meat meals instead for the same price, because of something in kitchen. Breakfast, just great considering location. Laguna and flamingos, perfect, they are evidently used to people so they let you come closer than usually, this maybe not being a positive, but well... Internet for a short time after 7pm, working surprisingly ok, but nothing fast of course. Well recomended!

Report Check-In

be careful 150bob if you go directly to the hotel, but 150 usd for a double if phone or Internet booking.

Report Check-In

can only confirm what was said. really cute place, private room with ensuite (hot shower) for 1 pers. 100B including breakfast. came up on it by accident, lost my route and spontaneously decided to stay. did not regret it. And this Laguna has the most flamingos I came across.
they also sell soft drinks etc if you just pass by.

Report Check-In

We arrived late and asked if we could pitch our tent near the hotel. The owner was very friendly and let us sleep in a small empty room for free. We were cold and tired so this was a very welcome surprise. He also sold us some needed fuel because we lost our extra fuel after we dropped our bike a couple of times.

We regret that we didn't had extra Bolivanos with us because the breakfast looked realy nice.

Report Check-In

Really nice hotel. Beautifully equipped. A treasure on the laguna route. After 4 days riding without shower and very basic overnights we checked in here and did not regret it. 150 BOB pp for a standard room with private bathroom and hot shower and a very rich breakfast. 30/40 bob for an excellent dinner. Paula really knows how to cook and Samuel is perfect host. Thank you for a perfect stay!
