We camped here twice and loved the history of the hotel. ugx 27k pppn. Ablutions are great, clean and nice showers with hot water. We did have a lot of music though from surrounding bars and churches so that can be annoying .

Report Check-In

lovely atmospheric place to have a drink and meal. the bar is named after Hemingway who stayed here, as did Bacall, Bogart and others. we did not stay here but rooms are us45 for a single, usd$90 for a double

Much as below. Now very hot water and great water pressure in the showers. The price has increased to $7 pppn, but still good value.

What a historic place to stay! The campsite is in the park like garden, well away from the road. Talk to the owner about the history of this place, he knows a lot. Thanks to his family this hotel still exists. You can watch the movie "Africa Queen" at reception. He also collects historic masks and figurines, which are on display around the hotel. A place you shouldn't miss to visit in Uganda!!

We camped two nights here. As the rain season was about to start, we were allowed to set up the tent under a big roof. Lots of green space otherwise for campervan, overlanders and the like. Huge dining and bar area to hang out and relax. Bathroom and toilets are in old colonial charm, but clean and fully functional (I think the manager has an eye on it due to previous comments). Payed 6 USD pppn for camping. A buffet will be arranged when bigger groups are around the hotel. 40k UGX for Dinner, 28k UHX for breakfast buffet.
Chimpanzee Trekking can be arranged with Ranger Deo, see other marked location at Masindi hotel.

Very Nice Camp behind de Hotel, borhole water to fill up.
Very nice owner and Staff! Totally Recomended.

Lovely hotel, nice dinner. Very kind owner and staff who are very welcoming and helpfull. Good location to go to the national park the next morning (30 min drive). Only point of improvement we would love to give are the facilities. Hot shower which is nice, but the whole just looks a bit outdated in the manner that it just looks a bit worn down. It works, but could be improved, even more because according to the owner next year the place is going to be at the UNESCO-list. Overall very good and nice people.

Pleasant camping area with good and clean facilities. Handy if you are doing the chimpanzee tracking. 25,000 UGX pp. Great MTN and Airtel coverage. Free wifi at reception.

Quite big campsite behind this historical hotel that’s established in 1923. Hepburn, Bogart and Hemingway have all stayed here. Good hot shower. No kitchen facilities. 25 000 UGX/pppn. Right beside the road, so some traffic noise in inevitable. Just look carefully where you park, we had one big tree branch fall just beside our Landy, took a hit in the edge of our awning, but luckily did no damages.

Very nice place. We agree with what is already said. UGX 25.000 pppn.

Campsite in beautifully manicured garden of hotel with real colonial style charm. Staff very friendly and helpful. A good basis from which to take an excursion to MFNP. Clean ablutions with warm solar showers. Reccommend.

A nice hotel that first opened in 1923 .Colonial atmosphere. Big rig parking no problem. Nice menu, main dishes around 35K UGX. There was no WiFi available during our visit for lunch. I didn't bump into Humphrey Bogart, but I am sure he enjoyed his stay here. Our lunch was expensive by local standards, but very nice. Service was comparatively quick. A pleasant stop.

We wished we could've stayed longer than one night! Lovely spot for camping in the hotel gardens. Amazing hot shower after a string of cold ones and electricity available at sight which is flat so good for RTT. Plenty of birds around and the hotel is beautiful with a lot of history. The owner/manager gave us a tour of the hotel and grounds.

Really lovely spot, on the edge of town. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful. He has taken over from the previous owners and are really putting a lot of effort into the upkeep of the hotel.

You camp behind the hotel on a large grassy area- great hot showers and the ablutions were cleaned daily while we were there. Power available.

Wifi (albeit slow) is available at the restaurant.

While being close to town, it still felt very private and the birding was surprisingly incredible.

Note: In case you need to stock up- we marked the Masindi Central Market nearby which had a plethora of fresh fruit/veg etc.

25,000UGS pppn

I am camping with my tent for 25 USH. This place is excellent! I am alone in a beautiful big garden with some monkeys. Staff and owner extremely helpful and nice. The hotel itself looks very chic old colonial style. Outside the parc. Very very good. Edit: next morning they insisted spraying poison around my tent so I had to move :)

New owners who are upgrading the whole place, and it’s already lovely. Best place to stop on your way to/from fort portal.
