20 kms northwest of Ihla Inca Huasi. Fantastic spot for rough camping. During the day maybe 2 or 3 tour-cars stop by but during the evening we had the place to ourselves.

Perfect quiet camping spot, beautifull view from the top of the island. The island has many little inlets and bays were you can find a place to camp depending on the direction of the wind / the amount of water on the salar.
In current situation the island is accessible from all angles as it's still very dry, so easy to find a good spot!

Report Check-InCamped on the west side. Beautiful sunset. No wind and not really muddy. We just lost a bit of power when the salt looked like sand but it was ok. Quiet night. We had -2 at night.
Report Check-InWe really loved it and spend two nights here. We saw only one car passing by in those 2 days. We were parked at the south-west side of the island but you can park almost anywhere. BUT not everywhere when you have a 2wd because when we wanted to leave we came to close to the beach and got stuck real bad. The surface looks hard and frozen but its only the top layer beneath it is al very soft mud. When walking (cause the phonenumbers we had didnt work)
for help to Incahuasi (20km) after a hour luckely a 4wd car with really nice people came by and towed us out:))
Great hike over the island with gorgeous views to all sides over the Salar. No muddy section right now. Had 8°C in the night, no wind!
Report Check-Inlocated on the west facing side of the Island is an old settlement / farm with cave ...Followed others tracks up onto the beach Quiet at night but footprints indicate daytime tours...strange. wildlife spotted but no google to look it up (mini Kangaroo) really
Report Check-InDO NOT TRY AND PARK OFF THE SALT NEAR THE ISLAND! We did and got stuck in the mud for 24 hours before we managed to get towed out. It turned out that there were the signs of 6 others who had got stuck as well where we were. This was on the east side of the island facing Incahuasi...
