Something not right?

Description

Stopped here and met Ricardo-a part owner of the property. He and his wife were super friendly and helpful our entire stay. It sits on the edge of the river with shaded palapas and a short 3 minute walk to the ocean. It was 50 pesos per person. They speak English, Spanish and French and they also offer spanish lessons! I would highly recommend this place to anyone passing through Nexpa.

What a place!! Quiet, peaceful and what a vibe! The amenities are rudimentary but who cares if you can park next to your private palapa with light and outlet. Of course it's personal but I love it.

As a follow up to the previous full entry I wanted to note some friends of the owner came to stay and surf and they camped near us. As we prepared for bed a water bomb came through our open door. The author of the unwelcome message is not known to us but we packed the van and left first thing as our first week was paid but our proposed second week was now untenable.
I don’t suppose this is a regular occurrence but it did happen and we won’t after all be back.

In February 2022 we stayed several nights and absolutely loved this place. However it is informal, easy going, designed for surfers and not the sort of campground that you think of when looking to park your RV in neat rows with designated hook ups and many rules. The setting is tropical and lovely.
All three campgrounds on iOverlander are owned by one family split into several ownerships. The blanket name is Chicho’s camping which describes the entire large camping compound on the riverbank, comprising restaurants, a skateboard park, apartments and a large grassy area shaded by coconut palms to park a rig or a tent or to rent open sided palapas to hang a hammock. There are several friendly dogs that live in the compound and are looked after by the surfers. This is a community and though we aren’t surfers - far from it - they welcomed us.
We stayed at the first camp area, owned by Chicho’s neice Emily, because we liked the shade and paid 140 pesos a night for our van, no hookups. There is an open dishwashing station, the shower is open sided (!) the toilet is flushed with a bucket (!) there was also a dump point for my porta potty (yay!) and Emily’s cousin Kaycee runs a taco bar of uncertain opening hours.
The river is safe to swim in but the water is two feet deep! The views are stunning and the surf on the beach is awesome according to the surfers.
Telcel works here for internet. One of the restaurants called Sol has free WiFi of uncertain reliability and there are pizza nights, water, pastry and fruit delivery services at random times.
If you want to slip into informality and live in a welter of different languages and cultures you will love this place. If you need certainty and structure not so much. I recommend you try it for the experience. I did t want to leave.
