Guyana
Camped at the Expo Center in the neighborhood called Sophia. Lots of space, shade, toilets and taps. No shower.

Report Check-InUpdate on our previous entry: we left a private message on the tourism board Instagram, not expecting any answer. After a few hours they did get back to us and arranged for us to be let in! Large grounds, secure and quiet, much nicer then the Pegasus hotel. So be aware that during weekends or after office hours you need to arrange prior permission to get in!
Report Check-InWe arrived here on a Saturday when the tourism office is closed. The very unfriendly guard did not let us in, and did not want to contact anyone to ask for permission… could not stay. Looks like a great place to stay in Georgetown, maybe better luck during the week!
Report Check-InWe asked the tourist office if we could hang our hammocks here for the night and they said there was no problem. They gave us the WiFi password. It looks like they started building this camping area years ago and then abandoned it, not sure it will ever be completed. None of the taps work, there's some old rundown toilet (no water so in a very bad state), no showers but we found a hose we could use to have a wash just behind the camping area.
Report Check-InWe spent two nights here after having spent two nights at the Pegasus Parking Lot.
As others already said, the toilets are run down and there is not much service. But after all it's safe as it is gated. A good place to stay while being in Georgetown.
entramos pidiendo permiso a los guardias y pasamos solo 1 noche aqui
Report Check-InAt the gate, tell them you need to talk to Foamy aka Rudolfo. He is the caretaker and has final decision. You should also stop in the tourism office (orange building near round about). They can guide you to Foamy and also give you some freebies. If you have a sticker, offer it please. We did not seek showers or bathrooms but found water for tanks at a stand pipe. That water was off the next morning.
Report Check-Inlarge grassy area. camped under large shady tree. organized taxi with gate keeper 1300 per hour. ask for Chemi at tourist office we received lots of info and suggestions from her. TAKE NOTE.We were advised tourist commision is being moved from once redevelopment exhibition grounds starts. Chemi told us once this redevelopment starts no more camping. No dates were set. So it could be a while.
Report Check-InNice peaceful spot & friendly guards at the gate. We found it a good spot for 'truck admin' (filling with water, emptying the toilet cannister, plugging-in for power when overcast & solar not happening). You can stand out-side the gate to hail a taxi into town. If you don't need facilities and want to be within easy walking distance to town centre, then the Pegasus Hotel car park is better (also guarded/secure).
Report Check-InGood shade! Free of charge! Not far from the centre. Secured place. No shower.
Report Check-InExhibition terrain with big lawns in quiet area. Fenced and guarded. Toilets, water, 240V available, no showers. Free of charge.
Report Check-InAfter 3 years we are back and still welcome St this place. Ask permission at the Guyana Tourism Authority building.
