Report Check-In

Arrived hoping that now in the midst of high season it would be open, but nope. Locked chain across the access road right at the main road.

If you are coming from Ruta 7, definitely stop in at the visitor center and ask before relying on this campsite.

Report Check-In

campground seems to be closed - there's a gate at the turn off from main road and it was closed. I'm with my bicycle so I hopped the gate and camped no problem. toilets and showers are open, no hot water though.

Report Check-In

Campsite remains closed with blockades. For hiking trails, plan on extra kilometers as you will need to start from X-83 road.

Report Check-In

Still closed (to the extent there are old cowpats in the group shelter) - surely going into the high season it could be open even with cold showers?! Fabulous location and lots of shelters. Superb walks and views above.

Report Check-In

the campsite has reopened yesterday but no hot water, really Nice place, peacefull and what a great views!! the road to mirador is open but really steep, difficult without à 4x4 and even difficult in the Last km but the hike is great and the view amazing

Report Check-In

Still closed because of the waterheating problem. We parked our car in front of the fence and did the hike to the Douglas Thompkins Mirador (beautifull viewpoint) and took a cold shower after the hike in the toilet building. Also the water is drinkable.

Report Check-In

Closed when we arrived here for the walk to the Thomkins mirador. Not sure why and when it's open again. Ask at the visitor centre when planning to go. Could walk from the fence to the mirador.

Report Check-In

28.11.2023 : this place is closed for a water heating problem. You can parc in front of the fence, next to the main road, and access the start of the trails by walking 7km

Report Check-In

closed. not just the campsite but also the road which means you can't drive to the parking lot to do the other two hikes

Report Check-In

We stayed here for one night at the end of March. Facilities were closed, also no water from the tab.
But you can drive to the little shelters, choose a spot you like, get water from the river and enjoy the amazing views (for free, no one came around to collect fees).
Super quiet, super beautiful.
Careful: it snowed during the night, so be prepared for the cold!

Report Check-In

We where here 12 of march, in need of a hot shower, but the camping was closed. Also the other two down the road.
Now we are standing with 2 other vehicles in front of the entrance to spend the night.

Report Check-In

stayed here one night, beautiful views from campsite and lovely shelter attached, you can drive camper into campsite here! also worth to go up to the Mirador which is accessed via the campsite!

Report Check-In

Nice campsite in the park. We arrived from Argentina and spent the night after border crossing. There are many wind and rain sheltered huts to cook if you are with a tent. No-one collected fees for the park or camping.

Report Check-In

Nice camping area for tents or campers. No signal, as everywhere in the park, but pretty hot showers and toilets. Perfect spot to do the walk Mirador Douglas Thompkins

Report Check-In

we stayed here for 1 night. it is a place with stunning views if you choose the right places. hot showers indeed but the one on the left in the womans is the one with the best warm water and the best flow. only downside at this place (and all the others in summer) is the enormous amount of flies and tabanos (horse flies who sting) we were getting totally crazy. kept waving around to get rid of them. spoiled the daytime fun. better arrive later in evening when it gets colder. then the flies aren't active anymore. no internet/signal in all the park. no wifi. clean toilets and showers and sinks. drinkable water. good location to spend the night before or after crossing the border

Report Check-In

Parque National Patagonia is a special place. The view from Doug Tompkins Mirador is worth it. We didn’t have 4x4, so we hiked up the road from camp. The road is just a gravel two track, with some nice views along the way. Super quiet with lots of birds and guanaco sitings. The real treat is at the mirador, and the loop hike that you can start from there. Wow! Also, if you have a clear night, the skies are truly unobstructed and the Milky Way is visible… there’s nothing nearby to create light pollution.

We stayed two nights. Kind of warm showers. Clean bathrooms. The parque facilities are top level. We filled with potable water when we left to drive through to the border with Argentina.

Report Check-In

Great place, very nice facilities as described. we were alone, no ranger but it's also not high season yet. Fee can be paid at the entrance of the park. Not sure how that works when you come from Argentina though.
Shower is not hot in the evening or morning. Heated by the sun so probably best around 3-5 or something.

Report Check-In

Strike is over.
Camping open ................... *****

Report Check-In

Definitely stay here! Epic campground, amazing views, great facilities, hot shower, wind shelters. Only campsite in Patagonia NP where vans/campers can enter the campground and don't need to stay in the parking.

All three campsites in the park are open. Ranger strike is over. All cost 8.000 pesos pppn.

Report Check-In

camping grounds are all closed due to the national strike of the park guards (see Casa de Piedra for more info). This one is not accessible by car, gate is closed.

Report Check-In

As described before, nice campground, can park close to the toilets, nice view. Hot shower from solar panel so we took a shower in casa piedras where the hot shower is from wood fire.

Concerning the treks, we left the car in the camping, lago chico loop is 24km from the camping. The road is ok if your car is not that wide, only one tricky part almost at the beginning.

Report Check-In

Excellent campsite. Previous comments are accurate.

Small shelters around to have dinner or breakfast. We were allowed to come with our rig (Mazda Bt-50 pickup with camper cabin).

Concerning the road to the mirador. 1) one tree is broken as soon as you enter the road. Our car is 3.2m and we had to cut some branches on the way back not to break windows. 2) 1km away the 2wd road has steep incline in really bad condition (very deep bumps), we barely made it up in 4wd without differential as front wheel went up into the air, on the way back we had to fill in the hole with stones so that our campers overhand in the back would not touch the road (the hole was at least 50cm deep).

The rest of the road is fine. We used low gear for inclines and managed to go almost all the way to the top.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsites with incredible views of the mountains. Very nice heavy timber quincho at each site, at least 4 small ones and 3 larger group sites. One was blocked off from use and not sure why. Bathrooms are unbelievable for a campground -- actual finish wood with slats and trim!!! All the architecture and signage in the park is of very high quality design and craftsmanship. Showers are warm by 3PM if it's been sunny all morning. Quiet and stunning sunsets. Road is fine to get here for low clearance 2WD but access to the trails from the campsite is questionable -- one portion heavily and irregularly rutted on a steep portion with loose gravel. Our rear-wheel drive furgon couldn't make it up so we had to walk up to the trailheads. 8000pp/pn, pay at visitor center and ranger came around in the afternoon to check our receipt.

Report Check-In

Really lovely spot with little shelter where you can park next to. The facilities and especially the showers were modern, clean and unexpectedly beautiful. We had a warm shower there! The ranger passes in the morning and afternoon to check on the guests and ask for the 8.000 pp fee. As the spot and facilities were very nice, the price was ok, but still it was about 20€ for one night!

Report Check-In

Very good and beautiful campsite!
I don't understand the last french comment completly, but we didn't have any problems to get with our 2wd VW kombi to the camp site and the 2Wd parking spot for sendero lago chico.

Report Check-In

-Warning 1-

Report Check-In

One of the best campsite we did south to Santiago.
Facilities are super clean, large showers, water is warm and thats enough when you are used to cold water.
We went to the ranger cabin at 9:30pm yo pay, maybe you can do without.
You can come back there after the hike to have a shower and leave.

Report Check-In

Great place for camper vans, we had our own little hut for wind and rain protection right next to our van. Good and clean bathrooms and showers (not very warm when we were there).

Report Check-In

Lovely and well maintained campsite. Bathrooms are super nice with large sinks outside for washing dishes. Showers are not hot by any means, but they are warm enough for a quick rinse and lather after a long day of hiking. The ranger came and told us we were supposed to have paid 8k/person when we entered (no idea where) and 8k/person to stay the night. We never paid when we came in so he said he’d just charge us to stay the night. A bit expensive but worth it considering how nice the campsite, trails, and park as a whole is

Report Check-In

It’s back open- very lovely and remote. Plus close to the best border crossing we’ve been through. Highly recommend staying multiple days.

Report Check-In

The campground is open now and still beautiful. Also the mirrador 6km away is worth a visit. Only downside, they charged us 16k in the visitor center as entrance fee and here another 16k to stay the night in our tent.
I mean its a unique landscape but 32k to camp one night is pretty tough.

Report Check-In

The campground was closed due to off-season, but looked really clean and nicely done with a lot of open space and new built bathroom building when we passed by.

Report Check-In

Fantastic campsite. We met the ranger and paid our fees ($8k pp). He invited us to join him up at the lookout from the trail above the campground overlooking Cochrane lake. What a great guy! Campsites are clean and all have shelters. Showers are HOT! and bathrooms are amazingly clean! Definitely shower in the afternoon/evening to take the best advantage of the SOLAR heated showers.

Report Check-In

This is a beautiful campsite with great wind huts for cooking, hanging out, and even camping if necessary! The bathrooms are very clean with solar showers and running water. There are sinks for dishes outside the bathrooms. The sites are nicely spaced and you can find plenty of places to tuck in away from other campers. There are hiking trails from the site. The ranger comes by to collect fees - 8000 Chilean pesos per person. We highly recommend this place!

Report Check-In

Beautiful just like everyone says. Last time we drove through here this part was closed. This time we are going slow and stopping at all the sites going down the Valley toward Cochrane. Don’t rush it - this is the best place between Torres del Paine and Parque Pumalin. It doesn’t get any better so enjoy it while you’re here.

Report Check-In

Spent 2 wonderful nights here! Clean beautiful campground. Ranger lives onsite. Great wind protection at the last campsite /hut before heading up to the mirador. The Lago Chico Loop hike is beautiful. We decided to leave our truck at the campground and walk to the trailhead. Earned our lunch that day!

Report Check-In

we didn't stay as we were not sure if it was free at this point but it's a nice campground with super well built facilities. 8,000 pppn seems like a lot when you have 2 kids. sign says no dogs. the entrace bridge is a bit narrow but I guess most even big rigs could fit. the road to mirador leaves from within the campground.

the boondocking just down the road has the same views without the toilets and shelters.

Report Check-In

just adding we met other campers who confirmed they paid to camp in October

Report Check-In

We didn't stay here but it's super nice. We stopped for lunch and bathrooms and headed up to the mirador. As far as that road goes everyone here and the park officials told us 4x4 only, but we did it in our 2wd Westy. Granted, we are pretty used to driving these kinds of roads and have high clearance and good tires. Honestly most of the road seems to be doable by any care with high clearance and there were only two tricky parts. About 1.5 miles from the mirador there was a steep up hill with loose gravel and dirt. It's possible to get stuck there though at the time of this writing they were making the grade much less steep and more packed. The second part was after the start of the Lago Chico hike, which is just steep and uneven but only needs high clearance and follow by a good line to get up. Either way, there's not much reason to keep going from there anyway if going on the sendero and if going to the mirador it's a .5km stroll up the hill. We did enjoy the drive up though and the mirador was amazing.

Report Check-In

Like other Chile campsites in NPs, each "site" had a shelter but unlike the other two campsites in the park, you can pull you vehicle right up to the shelter instead of having to stay in the car park. Camping in the park is 8000 pppn and nothing extra for the 4wd "for now". Solar showers, so not very warm in the morning. Everything was clean with good washing up facilities. Although you can't reserve a space it did not seem busy. Mirador Douglas Tompkins is a 4wd trail [needed] behind the camp and is a must-view lookout across Lago Cochrane.

Report Check-In

Absolutely gorgeous campground with nice facilities. No fires due to fire danger- ranger said we could stay for free but asked that we take all of our trash with us. This is the campground best suited for campers because you can drive up to the to the shelters vs having to walk in like at West Winds. Stunning views.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campground with nice new shelters, big enough to put a large tent inside if it's raining (and low season).

It was free for us and there was only one other car there. You can drive right up to the shelthers in this campground. Facilities were all clean and still serviced. The shower was cold for me, but the solar heating did take the edge off which made it bearable after a long hike (not much sun today). Beautiful sunrise over the valley in the morning.

Report Check-In

Well maintained campsite. Three wind protected huts with benches and tables. Bathroom with toilets and showers. A ranger comes by in the morning and the evening to collect the fee, which us 8.000 CLP per person. The campsite can also be accessed with motorhomes.

In addition, the Sendero Lago Chico and the Sendero Los Gatos starts there. Moreover, you have access to the Mirador Douglas Tompkins.

Report Check-In

Wow..... what an unbelievably beautiful campsite and park. If this park was in North America or Europe there would be waiting lists of a month for a site.

Good sites for a car with rooftent. Shelters are very nice and new. Strategically placed into the wind. Also far from each other but since we’re the only ones here, it didn’t matter.

Bathrooms are designer hotel quality with hot water.

Report Check-In

Very nice campground, shelter and good wind protection. Very good facility, grass for tents, good for campervans. Highly recommended

Report Check-In

Campground is open now. 8000CLPpp. Bathrooms and showers available. Little houses with tables and benches, no firepits. Lovely place, but we did not stay overnight.

Report Check-In

Open as of 15/01/2018. We only drove in to check if we could get up to the mirador (only 4wd). There was a nice ranger, very clean and new facilities plenty of wind protection and shelters. Looked great.

Report Check-In

it is now open but we did not stay. Price is 8000 CPL/P MAYBE MORE ACCORIDING TO THE GIRLS AT HEADQUARTER

Report Check-In

The campsite is now open - we were the first visitors. Really lovely location and great facilities. The Parque Patagonia sites are each terrific and 8,000 (high season) per person for such facilities, as well as very friendly ranger and Parque access is a great deal. This is a amazing program to support. The treks are sensational.

Report Check-In

Entrance was closed with and we couldn't get in

Report Check-In

Still under construction. We wanted to do the hike which starts here but a not so friendly guy from the park stopped us. He said the trail and camping are closed and didn't give us alternatives. Camping looked nice and finish. So maybe they open it in high season.

Report Check-In

New campsite under construction close to small creek. Nice shelters with fixed wooden chairs and table. 100 Mtr upstream is a small dam where you can bath private and cold
