Latest Check-Ins

Nice place for one night (roof seems waterproof), place for 2 tents inside and some more outside. Prepare your water reserves before getting here as the river is inaccessible from the house.

Report Check-In

cool spot. staying in the house is unappealing but the grounds offer plenty of spots for tents. little patch of wood on right of house is location of old outhouse and now still used as the "toilet".

Report Check-In

Very nice spot to be sheltered from wind and rain ! Many cyclists seem to stop here ! Tailwinds everybody !

Report Check-In

Perfect place coming from Puerto Rio tranquillo to spend a night sheltered from the rain and the wind.

compost toilets only work when they are maintained, i.e. by adding substrate to the "mix". instead go away from living quarters and water sources and dig a whole 6-9inches deep and poop there. do not use toilets that are not being maintained as this is how diseases are spread. most importantly - leave no trace. thank you for reading

super lovely place to stay, sheltered from wind and rain and nice to see the mark of other cyclists that have passed. the river seems fine to use to cook and great for a paddle.
there also seems to be an old compost toilet type thing in the woods directly opposite the door, I don't know enough about the science of poops but perhaps someone else knows, is it better for everyone to poop in the same place to only contaminate one area or is it better to spead it out so it's not so strong?

Perfect abandoned house for cyclists. We stoped for lunch but it's mostly clean and the house is in shape for you to set up the tent inside.

What a great little informal cyclists' Refugio! Spent the night here with several other cyclists, space was clean and had no trouble with mice, though we were careful with our food. Good river access, water is a bit cloudy with sediment. Definitely worth a stop. :)

Casa Abandonada de 3 dormitorios, con Agua natural del río, está casa te protege de la lluvia y el viento.... Muy buen lugar

Report Check-In

I stopped there for lunch but then the rain didn't let me out and I stayed the night. Good shelter from rain and wind. In the main room you don't have windows so the wind keeps blowing but the two other rooms (big enough to build a 2 persons tent in each) are protected. Big river nearby from which I would not drink the water without filtering. The house is kept pretty clean. There are small rats living in the house (at least one). The Hanta didn't kill me though. Or not yet. But it seems that a lot of cyclists are using it to spend the night.

Report Check-In

Didn’t stop here, seems like a bad idea to stay in an abandoned house w rodents around given Hantavirus in South America! It’s a deadly disease carried by a mouse that lives in Chile and Argentina, so avoid abandoned structures and take your garbage away if you risk it.

Report Check-In

Stopped here to avoid camping in the rain. Expect to make friends, as many others will stop to make meals or even stay the night too. There is room for 3-4 tents if you really squeeze. There's a hole in the roof in the main room, and the water leaks across a lot of the floor if it's raining all day. There are also a couple rats/mice so be careful with food. Overall, a nice respite from the rain and surprisingly clean given its state.

Report Check-In

we camped next to the house since the weather was good, the water from the river next to the house is almost potable, we didn't use our filter. if the weather is bad the house can easily be used as a shelter.

still the same. abandoned, a bit damp but good as a shelter for spend a night. just stopped for Launch, though. ideal for cyclists.

Report Check-In

Where we spent Christmas Day! Like the others said, somewhere nice and dry after a windy and wet day on the bike from Villa Cerro Castillo. We put our tent in one of the back rooms. Sadly some idiots have left a pile of rubbish which might encourage rodents (too much to carry out in a bike), but otherwise reasonably clean. Roof panels flap a bit in the wind, and a few drips in the front room, but otherwise great!

Report Check-In

Nice place. There is a small open gate left of the main gate, no need to open anything up if your bike isn't too wide. Plenty of room inside for two tents and a few bikes. Additional tents can be set up outside, but not hidden. The river water has quite a lot of particles in it, so filter and purify before use. Or take water from a small stream nearby before arrival.

Report Check-In

Life saver after a day of constant rain. Roof is water tight. Fence beams to right of gate can be removed (and replaced) by hand. Motorcycle can park inside of you're crafty with the handle bars. If anyone stops by with a car, please pick up the box of trash in the corner.

House has been empty dinner at least early 2016.
