Latest Check-Ins

This place has moved about 4 km away, towards Barichara. The new place is even better, with a natural swimming pool and Indian food. No shared kitchen though. Look for La Pacha Glamping.

Report Check-In

The owner said they are closed until December, but will open at a different location... so it is permanently closed.

Report Check-In

Location & view is nice. Obviously created with love but TIME LEFT IT'S MARKS on most facilities. Didn’t meet owners, but nice volunteers.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay! 10.000/night/person if you have your own vehicle and just want to use the toilets, showers and Wifi.

Report Check-In

Für uns kein schöner Platz... Wir haben ihn gesehen und sind weitergefahren. Ein paar betonierte, teilweise geflieste Flächen, auf denen wohl mal Gebäude standen. Platz für 2-3 kleinere Fahrzeuge.

Report Check-In

stayed here 3 nights camping with own tent is 15 mil a night as others have said not everyones cup of tea

Report Check-In

Great place. The hosts (fluent English) work hard to make you feel welcome and accommodate every need. We had electric, water and good wifi. The area is beautiful and the quiet nights are amazing. We travel in a 19ft truck camper and worried a bit about turning around. Narrow driveway. Might not be suitable for anything bigger.

Report Check-In

Just an update:
According to the owner it is now a flat 15.000 per person to camp. People were not respecting the bathroom shower WiFi rule for the 10.000. So 15.000 and you get access to everything. Not partial access.

Report Check-In

NOTE: closed December 4-18, 2018. Read prior posts before arriving. This may not be your “kind” of place. Pit toilets. Solar, outdoor showers. Goats. Yurts. The smell of fermenting coffee. Backpackers. The driveway branches may scratch your rig. The turnaround space is tight. We thought it was wonderful. Stayed two nights and enjoyed it.

Report Check-In

Great place and people. New prices for Travellers using only Shower, bathroom and WiFi : 10k pp .

Report Check-In

Really lovely place to stop for a few days. Space and security to totally unpack all your outside kitchen setup and leave things unattended while you make day trips on the public bus to Barichara or San Gil. Super helpful owners with lots of info. We got to milk the goats and make cheese ($30k for the 3 of us) and keep the delicious cheese. Electricity, wifi, shared kitchen, hot outside shower, bus converted to hangout spot with TV and tons of movies. Great view from campspot. Highly recommend!

Report Check-In

Really nice place to stay! when you arrive the gate looks closed, but you can open the chain yourself or first walk to the reception 300m further. Perfect place to visit San Gill and Barrichara by bus. Delicious breakfast! you also can play, dards, badminton and they have a cosy bus to watch movies. And the owners are very nice. 15000 pp.

Report Check-In

We didn’t really like this place. It was dirty and expensive (we paid 50.000 for 2 adults and 2 young kids)

Report Check-In

Gate was closed and locked. Maybe closed in June?

Report Check-In

Rustic, hippie camping. Tap water is brownish. Nice friendly owners.

Report Check-In

as others have stated. however be prepared, during rainy season, for self rescue on dirt/mud track. we got stuck on the way out and had to winch and use maxx tracks. the driveway slopes just enough to pull a rig sideways in the mud. the manager told us that others have been stuck as well. parking are is very small we are 22ft long and could barely turn around. it is really a cool spot but please be prepared.

Report Check-In

awesome spot in san gil. alternative type of accomodation which gathers great people. good and convenient spot for vans and camping. has bunch of activities including a great pingpong table, good darts and even petanque! the place is run by justin and his lovely family. meant to only stay a night but stayed four.
loved it!

Report Check-In

A wonderful, relaxed and perfect camping place! the fresh goats milk in the morning, the awesome view and the place is like paradise:)

Report Check-In

As described, nice campsite not a huge amount of flat space but enough for a few vehicles. Good wifi, kitchen. easy to get into San Gil / Barichara. Friendly hosts.

Report Check-In

we stayed here twice - the second time almost for one week. Justin + Andrea are lovely hosts (and the dogs are one of the funnierst we've met so far on the road ;). It's an easy vibe, laid back groove on the finca. we got water from the tab in the kitchen (purified). brought all our food with us but joined the "curry-festival" that took place with around other 30 people - it was delicious! Nice walks around in nature. Perfect spot to be before/after visiting Baricharra. highly recommended!

Report Check-In

As per all reviews below this place is awesome! 15k pp, 20k for large load of laundry. We stayed 4 nights because is was so nice. Highly recommend!

Report Check-In

Nice relaxed vibe here. Room for a couple of 6 m vehicles. Delicious crackers with goats cheese and spicy mango chutney. We stayed here & at Fogatas - both nice, camping better at Fogatas but this is a more sociable place with lovely owners. Toilets were very clean & didn't smell at all when we were there!

Report Check-In

We spent 2 weeks in La Pacha and it was hard to leave the place. It's a great option for people that love camping spirit, but on the same time want to stay very comfortable. The location is between San Gil and Barichara which is great to visit both places as well as take part in different activities (that the owners help to organize and book), but at the same time it lets you stay among the nature. The hostal is very eco-friendly, there are solar showers, goats (you can buy delicious cheese and yogurt home-made from goat milk!) and different accomodation options - you can stay in a yurt, dome, gypsy wagon (all of them super comfortable and nice!) or you can camp with a tent too. There is electricity and wi-fi in every one of them. There is also a great bus with movies and books, fireplaces, hammocks, games, kitchen and pizza oven... But better order some delicious, vegetarian meals prepared by the owners :) The breakfasts are also great and very big. And of course the owners - Andrea and Justin - very helpful, nice and caring about every guest! Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

Best hostel in Colombia so far. You find everything you need, from nice hammocks, moviebus, clean and big kitchen to solar showers and goats! The yurts are really cosy and there is plenty of space to camp outside.

Big points also for the breakfast, it is fresh, healthy and you get a lot on your plate. A good start for a day of rafting, hiking, caving,... If you are planning on doing activities, Justin and Andrea are there to help you with everything and will find the perfect day out for you!

It is close to the center of San Gil to do some shopping or drink a coffee and also to the little town Barichara where you can wander around in the small streets and take a relaxing day off.

Best place to stay in San Gil for sure!

Report Check-In

We spent one night here on the way to Barichara, the facilities were just ok, we didn't shower. We had breakfast for 8,000 each, the eggs were cold and the arepas were like cardboard. Works in a pinch.

Report Check-In

We stayed in a yurd, 55.000cop for two. Many positive reviews here but we were disappointed by the general state of the hotel. Kitchen is very basic and smells because all the recycling bins are inside.
There is one normal toilet, the rest are dry toilets and smell enormously.

Report Check-In

Great place, located just outside of San Gil. Fast wifi, showers, toilets, kitchen, restaurant, fire pit surrounded by hammocks and tv room! Very quiet and eco-minded. Ideal location for enjoying the outdoor sports of San Gil but without being in the bustle of town. COP 15,000 pp for camping. There are also yurts and a dorm.

Report Check-In

Nice quiet place to spend a few days. They charged us an extra 5000 per night for our dog.

Report Check-In

Very nice place to stay, very peaceful and quiet surrounded by nature. Very friendly owners. English spoken. Sheltered flat places for tents, several yurts, nice common areas : kitchen with gas and fridge, patios, solar + electric showers, dry WC, bus transformed into play and TV room, fast WIFI. You should also taste their goat cheese! We recommend this place.

Report Check-In

Nice place and hosts as described. No music. Justin said he never plays techno he doesn't even like it.

Report Check-In

very much to recommending quiet stand. very much good information on the reception. ideal to the relax in this environment. maximum 3 wohnmobile. for very much large vehicles are the last 500 m problematic. also for one longer stay very much to recommend.

Report Check-In

We spent 5 nights over the Christmas period here and really enjoyed our stay. Justin and Andrea were great hosts, very helpful, friendly and provided good local information. On Christmas Eve we had a Pot Luck evening with Justin, Andrea, their family, friends and other campers, a good start to Christmas. We ate in the restaurant twice and really enjoyed the vegetarian curry and lentil burger. A previous post mentioned there is only 1 bathroom. Now there are also 3 compost toilets and 2 solar showers, all were cleaned daily. It really is a lovely quiet spot and definitely more like staying on a relaxed small holding than a manicured campsite. Very easy to get to both San Gil and Barrachara by the frequent bus service. We paid 15,000p pppn including electrical hook up. We would happily return.

Report Check-In

We had been quite disapointed. When we arrived it looked like Messies would live here. We didn't see the owners, volounteers were running the place. We did not use the kitchen.
They separate rubbish on one side very strictly and use a lot of plastictarps on the other side. And it seems they never heard how to manage a compost toilet.
At least the wifi worked fast and the toilets / showers were clean and it was quiet. But we would not recommend this place.

Report Check-In

We spent a week at La Pacha recently and fully enjoyed our stay..If you are looking to relax in a beautiful natural setting this place is perfect.
I was quite surprised to read a previous travellers review which suggested that La Pacha was only suitable for those looking to party, and that electronic music was blasting out all the time. This is quite baffling in fact, as the grounds were quiet and peaceful all day and night.Such reviews are basically misleading..
Justin and Andrea were very accomodating ,down to earth and friendly ,providing plenty of information about activities in the surrounding area and always ready to help.
So ,great hosts, terrific facilities, a beautiful relaxed location ,decent wi-fi and wonderful food!!
If we were back in this area we would certainly visit La Pacha again. It's not often you come across a site which gets it just right like this.

Report Check-In

Must email in advance to let them know you intend to stay there. Not much room for overlanders but we fit okay in a Land Rover and a Land Cruiser although it was a bit cozy. One cubicle for toilet and shower so but of a wait in the morning. Wifi but not very strong or fast. 15,000 pp to park our cars and 15,000 per load for laundry service (we thought this was expensive). A couple of days after we stayed here we stayed at Camping Fogatas just south of San Gil and much preferred it there and it's cheaper.

Report Check-In

No problems with electronic music while we were there! We had a great time at La Pacha. It's a beautiful spot, the hostel has a really nice atmosphere and Andrea and Justin are helpful hosts. And if Barichara and San Gil don't have enough to keep you entertained there's the epic movie bus, a dart board, badminton equipment and board games. We tent camped for 4 nights at 15,000 pesos per person per night. The kitchen is better supplied and looked after than many other hostels I've been to. There are undercover tent spots in the middle of the premises and some private spots in the forest out the back. Andrea and Justin also run a small shop where they sell essentials like 6L water bags and beers.

Report Check-In

Not for rigs higher than 2.5m, chance of scratches from low trees. Ask per mail in advance ([email protected]) if you can stay with a camper there, because they sometimes have privat events.

Report Check-In

The owner is asking the Overlanders to make a phone before arriving: 0057 310 221 1515. We payed 15000 Pesos per person per night, incl. electricity.

Campground and Hostel on the way from San Gil to Barichara. Basic restrooms and showers, WiFi, space for two or three vehicles. $30'000

Very nice Place to enjoy the Nature, I met a lot very nice People there and had a great Time. We did also Pizza in the natural Ofen.....:-)

Report Check-In

Great spot to explore San Gil and Barichara. Same price. We did laundry and could buy some provisions from the owners. Easy bus ride into each town. Great food at Gringo Mikes and Shambala for a change of pace. Good camping spot on tile pad with nice views and warm shower. 2 sweet dogs on property and some goats.

Report Check-In

Not für Rigs over 3.4 mtrs high. The Tree at the entrance. Very small no Space, even Turn around was a headache.

Report Check-In

Very nice and quiet. Weekend you can hear music from a bar down the hill. Not bad though. Bring your own water, the water from the taps is brown and murky.

Report Check-In

Fantastic place! Wanted to stay one night but stayed three weeks. The place is around 1km off the main road but easy to find. You don't need 4wd. It's quite and the view from the parking is amazing. There is a coffee forest and a mirador nearby. There are plenty of hammocks and you can relax in the old bus that they turned into a common area with TV and board games. Kitchen is well equipped. They have an electric and solar shower. Both are very hot during the day. Justin, Andrea and both kids are lovely. They offer volunteering projects as well. They sell homemade food and local products. Restaurant and breakfast have good quality too. I paid 15.000 per night without breakfast. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

A great place to stay! Nice owners, helpful. Probably you could discuss the price, if you stay longer time.
Was mostly quit except on a weekend, when there arrived a lot of guests.
Good place to explore the surrounding area from. Barichara, San Gil, Chicamocha...

Report Check-In

very nice place close to San Gil and Barrichara. Justin and Andrea are more than nice, and love having overlanders guests. when the weather is not ok you can spend the day in the entertainment bus, watching movies or playing table games.
good internet, but just in or around the bus, not at site.
the parking spot for your rig has absolutly no shadow at any time. not a big deal as the air is cool.
laundry service for 10k a load.
pizza oven makes a good dinner option.

Report Check-In

15,000 per person. Really great place to relax for a few days. The turn off from the main highway is after the km 75 marker. Take the right fork up the hill after km 75. The dirt road down to their place is about 500 m along this road. Look for a red and green gate and head on down. Maybe best to call before to make sure there is space as only 2-3 Vehicles can fit. 3102211515

Report Check-In

10,000 per person per night for tent camping with motorcycles. They also have rooms. Feels more like a home stay on a farm then camping at a hostel. Owners Andrea and Justin are excellent hosts and great hosts. The food is great value for money and tastes like home (familiar sandwich and pasta). We enjoyed our stay here very much as we were camped out in the forest. It was quiet and peaceful. Remember GPS slightly off. Just after kilometers marker 75 the road will fork and go to right. There are signs.

Report Check-In

15000COP/person/night. Nice kitchen, Justin and Andrea do food as well, which looked good but we skipped. They also do laundry for 10000COP/load.

Report Check-In

Loved this place! The turn is right after the 75km mark, stay to the right when the road forks. The owners set up parasailing and rafting tours for us, so helpful and sweet! Easy to get to San Gil, bus comes every 15min for about $2000pp. Outdoor shower was our favorite one of the trip!

Report Check-In

This camping place/hostal looks a bit run down but it's quite pleasant. The owners speak English and are really nice and there's a big kitchen/hang out area. You can watch movies or read in the old bus. Campfires at night. The solar shower was lovely. The turnoff to it is a bit further up the road to Barichara than the gps coordinates may indicate. The road curving up is wide until arriving at their gate, and has a big sign for la pacha right at the turnoff. A small dirt road leads to the actual campsite, so probably not good for really large vehicles. Wifi is average. They offer breakfast and sandwiches.

Report Check-In

We did not like the place. There is no grass to park, is only a small parking lot ni thing special for that price. We stayed in Barichara for free in the street and it was much better and beatiful than the other place.

Report Check-In
