Something not right?

Description

Nice chill Rasta place in a hectic town. "campsite" was in the garden between the banana trees, beside the chicken coop and the donkey. Staff were friendly but had to scrounge to find me something to eat. Ablutions were very basic. Not worth 200 Birr.

This place was such an oasis for us. We’d had a long ride and we had a very warm welcome from Sandrine and Alex. The entire property was so beautiful and well maintained. There was a lovely garden and a nice covered area to sit and chill during the day/evening. We stayed in one of the rooms (1400 w/ breakfast) but there is plenty of space for camping as well. Room was very comfortable we slept great. The bathroom is just outside the room, very clean. The shower is an outside shower with hot water and wonderful paintings inside. You look up and see banana leaves and birds. The food was some of the best food we’ve had! Sandrine was using ingredients right from the garden, it was so fresh and delicious. We learned a lot about the Rastafarian history from other locals that came by. We hope we can come back again!

Very warm welcome from Sandrine and Alex who will teach you the fabulous history of Shashemene but also make you discover the most beautiful corners of the region. A peaceful stay with our two hosts and the other travellers. Thank you Sandrine and Alex.

lovely peaceful place to camp or take a hut. Alex and Sandrine were great knowledgeable hosts. We got some really useful information from them and nothing was too much bother. We intended to stay just 2 days but ended up staying 6. A good area to walk and get the basics bread, eggs veggie etc and a good base to visit the hot springs at Wondo Genet and Lake Shala and lake Chitu. Lots of Rastafarian places to visit in the town. The lodge is a bit difficult to locate but well worth it. Good food and Zorro the Husky is beautiful. We got hook up from a nearby chalet and used to ablutions there too.

Safe gated and guarded compound. Brilliant place to visit and learn about the history of Rastafarian’s who came to Ethiopia since the 60’s. Still run by French Rasta family. ‘Basic room’ is actually very nice with big comfy bed, mosquito net and framed photo of Hallie Selassie above bed. Now 450 birr With breakfast included. Shared toilet and bucket shower. There has been no running water since they came here 15 years ago sadly due to a restriction put on them. Very friendly staff. Good food at restaurant. Meal of rice and assorted veg 75 birr. Cold beers 22 birr. Otherwise shops nearby sell basics (tomato, onion, bread etc). No WiFi in room. Beautiful well maintained garden. Nice place to chill! Follow signs from main road.

Camping and Guesthouse, a bit difficult to find. The Garden itself was okay. Run by French Rastas as stated below. We took a basic Room for 350 Birr per Night. Shared Ablutions, not very clean, cold Bucket Shower only. Food was okay, no WiFi. Lots of young People hanging around and smoking Weed.
