Zaruma | Informal Campsite

In the main park you find the only flat place to spend the night but the streets are so narrow that small and medium cars can park and the streets are steep. Around the park you will find restaurants, ice cream parlors and good cafes. Quiet and safe night. You talk to the security officer of the municipality or alcandia who is in the whole park and helps you to park the car. Zaruma is a national heritage town and is on the Unesco list as a cultural heritage of humanity.

En el parque principal encuentras el unico lugar plano para pernotar pero las calles son tan angostas que pueden estacionar carros pequeños y medianos y las calles son empinadas. Al rededor del parque encuentras restaurantes, heladeria y buenos cafes. Noche tranquila y segura. hablas con el enceagado de seguridad de la municipalidad o alcandia que esta en todo el parque y te colabora para parquear el carro. Zaruma pueblo patrimonio nacional y esta en lista de la Unesco como patrimonio cultural de la humanidad.

Zaruma is beautiful. I loved this place!

I also chose to stay on the main square.
- NOT big rig friendly, I wouldn't drive into the town in a big rig.
- it's free 6pm to 8am
- toilets at bottom of church stairs but they are closed at night
- WiFi for 1 hour per device
- Quite loud until 11pm and after 6am
- lots of people about all the time
- a bit cramped, i.e. not much room for Cars to pass you
- felt safe

muy lindo lugar y tranquilo. Tiene wifi, baños cerca. Estacionamos frente a la plaza. Es solamente para vehiculos chicos o medianos. Hay que subir bastantes calles empinadas pero vale la pena. Es un lugar muy colonial para pasar un día. Cobran estacionamiento entre las 8 y las 18 horas, despues es gratis.
