wanted to camp at Pali Aike but got there to find camping is no longer available. Campsite we used is a dry dam or excavation, deep enough to protect you from most of the wind. completely private and quiet except for some noise from a nearby pumphouse but that noise is steady and just becomes background. Lots of guanacos grazing nearby. No water. Access is from the road to the right about 1km before you enter the park next to the white pumping station. We found some firewood nearby and left some for the next person along

We came on a Monday when the park is closed. As described there are a lot of dead guanacos, we just kept driving until there where no more carcasses (about 2km) and set up camp there.
Report Check-InWe spent a night here, a couple of kms more south because they were 10 dead guanacos. The park rangers told us because of hunting. Very peaceful night, also the rangers they were 3h late to open the gate as it was the shift. Anyways the door was open and we entered the park, on the way out we stoped at the gate and we were not able to pay as they only accept cash. So it was free for us.
Report Check-InWe drove a bit further down the road and pulled off, but same spot. Beautiful wild camping. Flat desert plain full of Guanacos and Rheas. Watched the sunset while we painted and saw Guanacos grazing. Very little evening wind. Windier in the morning. No cell reception. No services
