Description

Coming down on Sunflower Rd(just a few dried out dirt dips, easy access dirt road) as soon as you see the Solar Farm on the south side, I’ve seen campers setup here. The BLM dispersed camping is large. I recommend driving in further into the lake bed as there are several established fire rings. 24hr Yucca Valley Walmart is 12 miles west and feel free to call in to see if they have firewood in stock $4.84/bundle. Plenty of LTE cell coverage on Sprint & Verizon network.

Good for a night. A lot of dirt around. Several abandoned sites full of scrap and dirt.

was originally going to stay closer to joshua tree at another site listed on here but after reading a review of being chased/harrassed and that 29 palms isnt a safe place decided to stay here instead, lots of rvs and a couple of vans, felt really safe and kept to myself, the areas very open so its easy to spread out. Sandy road, easy to drive in one small spot thats washboard but doesnt impact driving at all, relatively quiet at night with subtle road noise

Report Check-In

bare dessert but quiet and lots of room. Perfect for a quick overnight. Can stay up to 14 days.

Permanent residents and or abandoned rigs welcome here. Worst kept public land I've ever seen. Stay for a few months and leave all your trash for others to enjoy. Honestly, many of the rigs I can't tell if they are abandoned or being used. The positive is this place is huge. Get away by yourself or pull in with buddies. Nothing much to see but ok place for some overnights near the Park. Good Verizon LTE. Yours to enjoy protect and keep clean!

All the campgrounds at Joshua Tree National Park were full so this was a great option. No issues finding a spot to park. A bit dusty though.
Did not find it very noisy at all. Slept great.

Report Check-In

This spot was easy to find with the directions shared here. The road in was wash boarded but it's a dirt road so expected.
It is a barren place for sure but lots of free camping so one can't complain.

Report Check-In

Great spot to home base out of for doing all the Joshua Tree things. You know, slightly dystopic …trash, electrical lines that sound like birds and crickets, rutted cracked earth, engine fires and bass music in the distance. Feels very safe though, nice neighbors. Hot tip, if you’re headed into the park, why not take a minute to pick up some trash on your way out and toss as soon as you get to a dumpster in the park. That’s what we do!

Good spot for the night! No issues, everyone was spread out nicely.

Report Check-In

Great place with lots of room and people spread out.

Report Check-In

Such a large area with plenty of dirt roads through the campsites. Everyone seemed spread out in order to give one another privacy. Heard a very faint barking of dogs at night, though it wasn't constant. Some people take advantage of offroading in some parts. Tents, vans, and campers living in peace.

Report Check-In

nice place to pull in for a night ..only a mile down a dirt road, other dispersed campers, near to town

Report Check-In

Great place. Lots of open space but somehow people decide to park 25 yards away when everyone else is 100+ yards apart. Is it just me? Why do that? 2-3 bars AT&T LTE. Found nice fire ring but didn’t use it.

Report Check-In

Lots of campers but tons of space. Clean. 3 bars Verizon. Some spots had soft sand but we had no problem finding a spot for our 32 ft motor home.

Report Check-In

Lots of space! This is a dried lakebed so beware of rain. Otherwise, it’s great.

Report Check-In

Big open space. It was rather clean for a blm!

Report Check-In

Plenty of spots, no shade, clean, no broken glass, some spots with fire rings.

Report Check-In

Two bars ATT LTE. Tons of spots. Lots of vans, but do much space it still was private.

Report Check-In

we are in a 2x4 170 sprinter. no problem driving in when dry. would not dare after a rain. tons of camping space. no Joshua trees

Report Check-In

Beautiful place. 4G. Rabbits an realy quiet. Easy to get in.

Report Check-In

Previous visitors have kept this place clean (or a clean up crew). Beautiful views of the mountains.

Watch out for private property signs (north west of the solar panels). Someone with a tractor came by to do some field work in the morning and politely let us know we were on private property.

Report Check-In

Totally awesome spot. Lots of other campers but plenty of spots to pull into. Full service and close to the JT entrance.

Report Check-In

Beautiful dispersed camping close to Jtree. Perfect for the car dwelling dirtbag

Report Check-In

Camping in the desert north of Joshua Tree along Sunflower Road. There is lots of level space. Quiet, nice view over the valley.

Report Check-In

seems like the main free camping spot for the area, what with various spots bordering the park being made day use only.
it rained pretty hard a day or so ago, so I didn't venture into the lakebed too far.
plenty of spots to set up camp, kinda a crap shoot as to how close your neighbors wind up being. good vibes, all in all.

I'm staying here in a Toyota Tacoma.

Report Check-In

Extremely large area with plenty of space for vans and tents. Quiet and great views. A few sheep and dog sounds (shelter closeby). On week-ends noisier with quads everywhere and shooting range nearby

Report Check-In

Quiet, big place, good for one night.
Easy to find.

Report Check-In

Stayed here 2 nights. Quiet and beautiful. There was a recent heavy rainfall that flooded the lake bed, so keep an eye out for that. Some off roading atvs and bikes were present the second night, but no issues. Good cell service too.
