Large campground. No hookups. Restrooms and showers (solar heated) boat launch ramps and playground equipment. Odd numbered sites reservable even numbered sites first come. Pay for the site at the entrance, get a printed receipt and then find a campsite. Some sites are double fee and I was told the senior discount does not apply to those. The sites are mostly pull in with some pull through. Coati circle seemed to have the most privacy per site. Reservations can be made at recreation.gov but the map on that site is not working so you can’t see where the site is located within the campground.

We are here the week after Easter and it is empty, only 3 sites taken on this loop. Unbelievably quiet and civil. The sites are clean (thank you, Mike), and most have lake or mountain views. The host said Easter weekend was full, all 350 sites taken and that the lake was crazy with boats, jet skis, noise, and mayhem. The lake is mud bottom. There are water spigots, shade ramadas, and hot showers. $25 a night, $12.50 with Sr. pass. Tonto and discovery pass not accepted here.
Near the Tonto cliff dwellings. Go there. Beautiful desert landscape, completely green and yellow right now. Watch for snakes on the hiking trails.

Sprawling camp area with many loops and boat ramps. I think odd numbered sites are reservable and even sites are first come first serve. Felt like summer, nice scenery. Would hate to see the place at capacity, I think there’s almost 350 sites! Peaceful this time of year though.

I’m here this afternoon on January 9, 2022. Several of the camping areas are closed down, for the winter I suppose, but there is still plenty of open campsites far from neighbors. The prices have increased some from the last time they were posted. I’ll include a photo of the pricing sign. I’m paying $12.50, 1/2 price, with my senior America the Beautiful pass. Beautiful place this time of year.

At this time there are no primitive sites available here because the water level is too high. Only spot this time of year is at Cholla Bay. There is no sign denoting this at the top so we drive around looking for it for awhile until we spoke with the camp host who confirmed it. We stayed at a standard campsite and the showers were nice and hot. There is potable water, but the spigots do not have threads for a hose.

Great place to stay and very quiet this time of the year. Nice view over the lake from several sites. Hot showers!

Report Check-In

Great campsite well spread out, warm to cool showers and flush toilets. Water is potable. $20 night or $10 night for seniors. Primitive sites by waters edge available for $12 night.
