Parking mirador Canyon del Atuel | Informal Campsite

Stayed above on the parking lot; just a big open and levelled space. As said before it's still not possible to drive down with a 2WD, but it's nice enough up here!

The mirador is nice, but no necessarely a must. The parkinglot would be ok for a nights rest, but if you have time, drive in the canyon, it‘s an absolutely worthwhile road to San Raphael. Just heaps of beautiful corners and sceneries. 2WD is perfectely fine, it‘s a good gravel road.

Beautiful spot with a spectacular view of the canyon ! Site is quiet exposed to houses across the river, we camped just behind a small hill. Was a bit slanted, but very peaceful.

We first went to lake front but there were too many bugs! (maybe time of year?). We came here instead but the road down to mirador had two bad holes on it and we were concerned about getting stuck in soft stuff and went back to parking area and parked at top of walking trail. Quiet night. No cell reception for Personal (maybe with roaming ).

scenic parking place and the possibility for an overnight stay on a flat treeless area. Right at the beginning from the canyon road. Great surrounding und well worth to do the detour trough this canyon. No problem to drive this gravel road even with a big rig, not much traffic. Take your time, there are many photo opportunities (condors) and also many alternativ spots for an overnight stop.
