Latest Check-Ins

Beautiful location but facilities are poor. Ablutions abysmal. Toilets don't flush and filthy. Cold water showers and I doubt they have been recently cleaned. There was a tsp near the campsite which dribbled water.
Monkeys and Baboons around so keep doors closed.
Really good animal sightings in area, so I visit Samburu again but for $30pn, they really need to improve the facilities at the campsites!!

a very beautiful campsite by river ewaso nyiro. I had a great time as I camped solo but the kws guard stayed with me all through. the river was flowing and the view was beautiful. the baboons are a nuisance but they leave at some point

Report Check-In

We had a wonderful stay here. We camped for two nights.
The infamous baboons were a minor nuisance. Remember to carry a catapult. This helps to keep them away. You can buy one from the ladies selling bead work outside the National Reserve.
The ablution facilities were clean as at the time we were camping.
I cannot remember the price we paid but it is not bank-breaking for Kenyans.

Report Check-In

beautiful spot at the river with really welcoming rangers taking care of you during day and night; ablutions were clean, showers cold, but okay; we saw not many baboons, but the vervet monkeys are really annoying - they even try to get food out of your hands, be careful!

Report Check-In

Really beautiful spot under huge acacia trees by the river. Unfortunately ablutions are very run down. If you're totally self sufficient you will definitely love it. The bridge between Samburu and Buffalo Springs still closed and now you have to pay entrance separately to visit each Reserve. Monkeys are around but just lock the car and have a stick in hand and all is good. Great 4g signal with Safaricom. Residents in East Africa pay 500 KES pp (+1000 pp park fees+ car) which is really worthy it!!! internationals pay 30 USD ppn (+70 USD pp park fees +car).

Report Check-In

Beautiful place along the river under high trees. The Baboons are temporarily a problem. There are about 100m river upwards a second, slightly smaller place, also with toilets, but we did not use the toilets. This place is also very nice.

Report Check-In

Serene, beautiful views. Lots of Elephants in the area.

Report Check-In

The bridge is closed between Buffalo springs. The wind was super bad so there was an insane amount of sand and the monkeys are killer. 4G internet.

Report Check-In

very nice place, various campsites more or less isolated, 3 or 4 ablution blocks badly maintained and not cleaned up. firewood available. rangers passing by in the evening and during the night for security. depending on the wind direction, we can hear the generator from the HQ or the nearby lodge. not fenced. no baboon during the 3 nights we spend here. very well located to visit both Samburu and Buffalo springs NP since the bridge connecting the 2 is only 100m away.

Report Check-In

Be aware of the baboons. They even entered our car as we stand right next to the open door. Caretaker brings firewood for now 500KSH, cold beer for 300KSH. Sometimes guards at night but not always.

Lion King Bushcamp, a couple of hundred metres from the bridge. Very clean, basic facilities eco camp right on the river and well in the bush. big tents, hot showers and very good food. low cost full board and very high value for money. thoroughly recommended.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite under the trees by the river. Lots of baboons and monkeys that you need to watch out for, you can pay for a guide, not sure the cost.
500ksh/30usd pppn (resident/non resident), firewood 300ksh. Very basic toilets and cold showers.

Report Check-In

Very nice campsite on the river. Caretaken brings firewood for 500ksh - but enough for a week! Proper loos and showers that are well maintained. The big issue is the baboons. Never have we met such indolent monkeys. Toothbrushing was abandoned within 10 seconds after we were ambushed with a baboon trapping itself inside the car. No amount of sling shot action or water makes any difference. We eventually took to only eating after dark - maybe the Serena hotel next door is in on this.
