Something not right?

Description

Very similar to Ruhija community camp, but this one has a much nicer ablutions and nicer grounds (lots of flowers). The tent camping area is not very private however, as it is right in the middle. This place is also closer to the village so maybe not as quiet. Camping $10, rooms also available with great views. Meals are available from 15000, but I didn't try them. There's a local restaurant just in front, and a rolex stall just down the road. The road from Buhoma to Ruhija is quite decent (at the moment anyway).

Lovely staff. Good place to camp with RTT before and after gorilla trek. Standard price of $10pppn.

Charged 35,000 for meal of local food, which was overpriced but otherwise a good experience.

Charming place. The village is great to walk through, with plenty to eat and a few beer closets. Our truck was opened above the rest of the tents, a bamboo fence provided privacy from the restaurant...of sorts. See photographs.

Dishes were washed in the shower. Ablutions are fine.

Perfect spot the night before the Gorilla Trekking in Ruhija. A 5 min. drive to the briefing point. Nice sunset, great view, hot showers and clean ablutions. 2 to 3 RTT spots, but hardly any flat space.

Stopped here for a leg stretch and to enjoy our own snacks enroute to Buhoma. The friendly and welcoming staff boiled some water so we could have our coffee and tea while enjoying the views! Recommend this as an overnight stop!

Same comment as other 2018 comment. We did however one night cottage/tent with half board and another with full board (shared toilet and bathroom) for $30 pppn and $50 pppn, respectively. No card option so only cash. Didn't had any noise from guides or locals.

Flat grassy terraces with flower borders for ground camping, we overlooked these parked on the edge of the car park with our rooftent. Good view and close to the start of the Ruhija gorilla tracking. They put the generator on for me when I asked to charge a laptop.

A bit steep for what you get at US$10pppn, but I guess that’s what you pay inside the park. Basic three course evening meal was OK, but again a bit overpriced at UGX36,000.

The biggest problem here is that a lot of tour guides stay, some arriving late at night and some leaving very early (presumably to collect guests staying at expensive lodges!). You are camping at the side of the car park but they show no consideration at all. Safari vehicles arriving and doors slamming at midnight, then before 5am ‘warming up the engine’ by running it for ages, revving, and playing loud music!!! Not helped that they all park haphazardly and block each other in.

An OK place to stay, but unfortunately you can’t expect a great night’s sleep.
