Description

On an island in the lake, this is an amazing place to chill for a few days! They have a secure parking lot at Rutinda dock (-1.269, 29.937) and transfer to the island is free in a dugout canoe (~1 hr, you are expected to paddle) or 25000 for a motorboat. Camping is 12000 per night on a large flat grass field, fairly secluded at the far end of the island. There are also dorms, cabins, and geodomes. The restaurant has a great variety of local and western dishes. There is also a well stocked library, a cinema, pool table, cards, games, swing set, canoes for rent, souvenir shop etc. This place is basically summer camp but with beer. It is deservedly popular so call ahead if you want a room, it can fill up. 0752652788

Absolutely wonderful place. We left our car at the secure parking they recommended ( ugx 5000per day) and took the motor boat to the island. We stayed in the Geodome rooms which were amazing. Food was great. And the tour of the islands by dugout canoe was fantastic. Loved this place . We booked via booking.com as we weren't sure of our dates but it's much cheaper to book directly.

What a beautiful, relaxed place this is! We parked our car at the coordinates of the secure parking place mentioned in another review, got on a motorboat (30,000 Ugx) and arrived within 15 mins at the island. We had the geodome deluxe (with private bathroom and toilet) for 96,000 pppn. It had a veranda with a beautiful view. The food from the restaurant is good, not overpriced. The staff is very friendly.

This place is still amazing! Very beautiful and relaxed. The restaurant serves delicious food and it‘s just one of these places where you plan to stay two nights and before you even realised it a week has passed. Highly recommended! P.S. make sure to visit the school, go for a canoe ride and try the byoona balls :)

All as described - nice flat campground for the tent and a nice bar/restaurant serving good food. The prices are reasonable and it isn’t the kind of place that’s charges you a fortune once you’re locked onto the island. 2 nights and 4 meals + several beers and transfer one way (is a long canoe ride) was about $35 for two people.

We did a day trip here, went there and back in the dugout for 5,000pp each way, beautiful trip! Nice place to have lunch, chill out on the sun deck and swim.

If you stay the night you only pay for the dugout one way. Boat is still 25,000 for the whole boat.
Dorms - 25,000pp,
Basic single room, shared bathroom - 50,00
Basic double, shared bathroom- 80,000
You have to pay extra for every little thing! Even lime in my G&T cost more...

15.000 pppn for camping, 25.000 for motorboat transfer or with canoe its free. You can rent canoes for the day for 15.000. Great place to be, nice views but no lakeview at the campsite. Food is great and costs around 10.000-20.000. We enjoyed the place for a 2 days chillout in the sun.

We parked our motorbikes at the secure parking and took a canoe to the island. The place is really nice. Very good food for reasonable price. Highly recommend!
