Something not right?

Description

Right on the beach. No facilities. Likely to be fisherman here. You will have to drive through an arroyo to get here but the dirt road is in ok condition, with a few sandy bits on the way in. Areas of even deeper sand when you get to the beach. There is a fenced area right on the beach where you can park for a small fee, I've seen 40' 5th wheel there. Spotty 3G and with a booster, 4G cell service.

gnats are a nuisance all day, and swarms of mosquitos attack after sunset. beach is rocky and muddy. view is great. recommend 4x4, but you may be able to go on the beach a bit with 2wd if you air down and have tracks/shovel/off-roading experience. best to walk it first to evaluate. we helped dig people out. driving tip, where you see the sign pointing left to Playa ligui, go right instead, and then take a left to the beach. much easier road and less soft sand and ruts. although there are 2 trashcans here, there is no pickup, so pack in pack out.

Report Check-In

When we arrive on the beach, WE saw a lot of rings staying by the sea. WE trief to go to the North witch Is not so busy but there Is o lot of soft sand. you need FWD, with flat tires and low gear. so WE stopped AT thé entrance witch was not thé best place. people are noisy with there pick yo and atv.
tjhe View Is beautiful...on thé other side if thé rigs !!!
I won't recommande this place if you want yo be very quiet. I stopped there one might AND went to find more confortabble place.

Report Check-In

We were trying to find a stop to break up the drive to Todos Santos and wanted to park on this beach as the reviews looked good. We were greeted by a woman that was warned not to stay there by a man that tent camped the night before.
He said that three men staking out the place and obviously had not good intentions.
I sent my husband down the beach to ask a group with a few big rigs if it was safe.
They said absolutely not! That their friend was abducted from their camping spot last year. And people come by all the time and steal things.
My husband didn’t ask why they felt safe enough to stay because he wanted to get back to me as I was alone further down the beach.
All hear say but safe to say we left. Although the beach was absolutely beautiful.

Report Check-In

As others have said, this is a nice place. Large beach area with beautiful sunsets, sunrises. Magical during a full moon. Friendly local Fishermen come in and out of here all day. If you are camped near the launch area, some will stop to chat, others just wave. I wouldn’t recommend trying to drive on the beech without 4wd and sand driving experience. Slow and low seems to be the best approach.

Report Check-In

Good beach, the road in is sandy/rocky. Once you get the to the beach the sand turns soft, especially if you go left. We made it fine in our LX570, aired down our tires and had no problems but we had to help two people get out. The sunrise was beautiful, water was nice & cool, and the locals that did come by were all friendly. There was a lot of mosquitos at night so bring spray or thermacells (if the wind allows).

Magnifique plage pour y passer la nuit. A notre arrivée un groupe de dauphins sautait dans les vagues. Eau sablonneuse, beaucoup de poissons.
Des moustiques au coucher du soleil.

Report Check-In

Beautiful beach, although the pond of stagnant water (left of the entrance) ruined it for us. Tons of mosquitoes made their way into our van at night!

Otherwise calm and peaceful, beautiful mountains in the water. The beach is more rocky than sandy, with clear but brownish water. Not the usual turquoise water we’re used to!

Report Check-In

We found the road in to be perfectly fine even when we arrived around dusk, the only soft sand was on the beach itself. There's a sign on the road in pointing to the left for Playa Ligiu, we ignored it as the road was very narrow and took the wider road straight ahead. Didn't see any private land or fenced off areas, just a nice beach and a couple vans, right on the spot marked on the map. Just a warning about swimming, both my husband and I at seperate times stood on.... something.... in the shallow sand in the water that stung us. At first thought it was stingrays as there were many but it was a fairly minor sting so probably not. Saw some dolphins too, it's a really lovely spot!

Report Check-In

Same as other reviews, no issues, very friendly locals, quiet all three nights. Flies in the day and mosquitoes at night- nothing too bad.

Report Check-In

Totally quiet when we stayed on a Saturday night, no one partying this week. To access the viewpoint, follow the road to the end to a small brick structure then turn right through the break in the fence. You'll find a path on the left hand side that goes up the back side of the viewpoint. It's a rocky 15 minute walk but well worth it for sunset!

Report Check-In

Quiet fairly remote spot that’s easily accessible by car if you watch where you drive. There are a few soft spots on the beach. More rocky then sandy but the view is gorgeous. Nice rough beach walk in the evening then We were blessed with dolphins in the morning. There were 3 other vehicles there.

Report Check-In

Lots of fisherman and not too many campers. Beautiful. A few pockets of deep sand. One overflowing trashcan. Best to pack everything out.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot!
Be careful, although there were many people camping at the same time, we had some stuff stolen. Nothing terrible, but it still sucks.
Amazing sunrise and no sounds at night but the waves!

Report Check-In

Great location on beach, not busy today. Just 2 others besides me today. Hopefully sand is not too soft - I guess I’ll know tomorrow when I try to leave. Medium sand-y beach 😅

Report Check-In

Spent two nights here. location shown on iOverlander is now behind a locked gate, with a "private property, no entrance" sign. Spoke to the group of three RVs camped there , they were a bit evasion, but said they had gotten permission from the landowner and had been there a month.

we camped right were the public road reaches the beach, which is a bit north of the location shown in iOverlander. No Palapas, not really any shade. Locals come at times and raze their dirt bikes up and down the beach. Fishermen also use the beach as a launch for little boats. Those with 4x4 ventured farther out on the beach. There is a track along the length, but with my 28 footer I was concerned about getting stuck turning around. Intermittent Telcel signal.

Report Check-In

Navigated in the road on my vintage 28 foot Class A with some scratches from the trees brush, but no damage to the solar panels. Parked closed to where the "road" reaches the beach 'cause walking ahead down the beach I wasn't seeing packed areas wide enough to turn my rig around while being certain of not getting stuck.

Report Check-In

Only a few people, fishermen most days, one of our favorite beaches in Baja

Report Check-In

Of the 2 places shown in the area, this has the easiest access but as a result is busier and noisier than the one to the north. Most reasonable sized RV will get to the beach provided you don't mind losing a bit of paint to the overhanging branches. But once on the beach, beware of the soft sand. But still a great spot for a few days.

Report Check-In

Beautiful Beach!!! Beautiful View!!! The road in was hard packed and we were able to easily get our 20ft Travel Trailer here. Felt extremely safe. The nights we were here there were no mosquitoes like previous reviews were saying. There are local boaters who do come throughout the night. But they haven’t been a bother to us. Explored the beautiful town of Loreto and hiked a near by trail. 100% recommend this spot :)

Report Check-In

Easy access in our AWD van. We used this as a launching spot to paddle to Isla DanZante. The sand has a lot of fine dust mixed in. Dustier than most beaches we have seen this trip. Some partying and loud music at sunset, but otherwise we had it to ourselves.

Report Check-In

Great beach. Just as described. About 5 rv’s here tonight

Report Check-In

Beautiful beach. Just a couple families here during the day. The farther you drive out, the looser the sand gets.

Report Check-In

Sand is soft- 2 wheel can make it work, make sure you stay on the hard pack trail avoid getting stuck.

Fisherman all night came out 2 am ish from the ocean. I was curious to what they were fishing for because this was 100% night fishing could they be going after squid not sure somebody educate me please.

Report Check-In

Great location~ nice to how effortless the locals whip a Ponga boat into the water and off they fish. About 6-8 boats pretty busy. Lots of space, there is a decent road that comes all the way to the beach and to both ends. Be stupid careful of the dry, deep, soft sand. If your on this app you know your limits. Wi-Fi not great 1-2 bars barely usable. Locals were very nice.
Remember you brought it you pack it out!

Report Check-In

Great spot, we’ll be back and spend more than a night!

Report Check-In

This is definitely one of our favorite spots in all Baja. A stunning beach with a great viewpoint you can climb to on one end and a tree you can park next to and hang your hammock on the other. Good swimming, calm, only fishermen and some paragliders coming and going, we didn't seem to bother anybody. We were the only camper the whole time of our 4 days stay. We only left cause we ran out of water hahah.

Be sure to climb the little mountain at the end, the view is truly stunning (see photos)

Report Check-In

Great campsite - great views all around, saw a pod of 30+ dolphins, beautiful sunrise. Got stuck, twice…f250 with a travel trailer on North side of beach, and ended up camping all by ourselves with no one else around! So many mosquitos because of the nearby swamp, never seen so many before… so be prepared once the sun goes down. Lots of dead, gutted fish along the shore. Rocky beach but turns to sand. Great for paddle boarding.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 10 days and loved the area. Very beautiful beach with nice swimming and snorkeling areas. Lots of soft sand so I would suggest walking around the beach before you drive down it. Also be sure to hike up the hill at the north end of the beach.

Report Check-In

In case everybody else didn't say it enough: SOFT SAND. Especially on the North side, but even the south side can get you. I have a 2WD medium-clearance truck that has gotten me through some sketchy stuff, but my hubris in this beach meant it took nearly 2 hours and 2 4WD trucks to get me out. One of the 4WD even ended up stuck for a bit. Obviously a lot of that whole experience was my bad, but the point is- be cautious.

Report Check-In

We couldn't wait to come back to this spot on our way back north, one of my favorite places in Baja. a little mosquito activity after sunset but otherwise no bugs. so many beautiful birds. quiet. safe. if you can get past the soft sand patch, the north side is less busy. spotty to zero telcel.

Report Check-In

Maybe I shouldn't say this so it stays less busy - this is my favorite spot in the whole Baja. Our friends saw whales, and we spotted a group of dolphins.
Got stuck in the sand on the way out but quickly got out with sand tracks. Please keep it clean. If trash bins are full, take the trash with you.

Report Check-In

**We saw dolphins and our friends saw whales in the morning.** One of the most stunning views I've ever seen. quiet even though there were a handful of overlanders here when we arrived. mix of soft sand and rocks so it is possible to get stuck. very spotty, almost non-existent telcel. seems dog friendly despite an earlier review stating there may be restrictions. still has one overflowing trash can. mosquitoes come hard at night. felt totally safe, other than potentially getting stuck.

Report Check-In

Dry Camping on a narrow but nice, smooth stone beach with pockets of soft sand in places. Ours is a 25-foot RV and we got stuck trying to turn around but dug out easily. Respect the tideline as you are camping steps away from the water. When driving in through the arroyo, there is a split with a sign that says the beach is to the left. While there is one there, we took the right fork and thought the beach was better. 2X2 will not have problems with access. Very pretty here. No garbage but the refuse cans were overflowing.

Report Check-In

If you camp here please don’t block access to the grotto/shrine at the very south end of the beach. This place is getting visited at all hours of the day/night by locals and parking a recreational vehicle in front of it is very inconsiderate.
It is a tempting spot, however we are the guests on this beach. Thank you.

Report Check-In

just as described on the precedent review.
some trash bin are here

Report Check-In

Free beach camping but thick soft sand, bring a winch or tow straps as you may get stuck. Have seen 4-5 trucks get stuck this week. Beautiful beach, quiet, and calm water. Seen dolphins and whales off shore.

Report Check-In

Easy access in from the road. Very soft deap sand on the beach but there is a hard pack road that runs along the soft sand. Nothing here but beautiful turquoise sea, sand with some stones and shells. Little islands in the water and peace and quiet. Police drove by a couple of times but no issues. They didn’t ask us to leave. We’ve been here 2 nights and staying a couple more. Great for a chill for a few days. Store at the entrance to the beach is the best store we’ve seen in Baja, they literally sell a bit of everything! And it’s free!

Report Check-In

Road through town and through the arroyo was in good condition and packed, saw a ton of locals in sedans driving down to the beach. Once you hit the beach you can head right to some soft sand, we saw some locals setup for what looked like a while and had music going so we decided to head north a little to the more rocky area where no one was really around us. Stayed for one night, the bugs come out at night and there were a lot!!

Report Check-In

Easy to find grey-sand beach on the sea of Cortez.
Only Two other campers were there when we stayed.
We only stayed 1 night.
It's such a beautiful spot, we Would have stayed longer if it weren't for the mosquitos and a smell of rotting fish/seaweed in the air.

Report Check-In

Pretty empty beach. Great view of the islands. Only saw a couple other cars and Two Federally patrols. Able to park 10 meters from the water in a 43' class A. No facilities. Spotty cell service.

Report Check-In

Arrived around 1400, a few cars until dark. One came and went 3 times. Another came around 1600 then returned from 1900-2000, parked right in front of our van and played loud music until it left. A group of people with a boat arrived around 0630, we left. Got a weird/sketchy feeling the whole time but we were fine.

Report Check-In

We are here for a night and is a good spot. Quiet in front of the beach. Fantastic view.

Report Check-In

Great place! We spent one night, arrived around 5pm and only one car was there and left pretty soon. Then we had whole Beach for ourselves. We parked our car behind the tree in the beginning of the Beach cause we have 2WD and we weren't sure if we can make it to the end because of the soft sand. We enjoyed beautiful sunsen and sunrise. Only thing were tons of mosquitos at night, no repelent helped us.

Report Check-In

The view of Isla Danzante is beautiful, we saw a protected turtle nest and enjoy the fresh air. At the beginning of the night the beach was invaded by a cloud of hunger mosquitos. Repellent doesn’t works. After a few hours it gets better. Then some fisherman arrives to go work, what was expected after the description here, but they started to leave after 10pm with a lot of noise. 12am and it wasn’t over. One of them leaves the dogs unattended and they barked all the time. It was hard to sleep... but well.. it was safe and free.

Report Check-In

Just arrived a nice stretched long stretch of beach it’s the afternoon in the window slightly up probably best to get out early if you want to get on the water, driving on the dirt path is hard packed but if you go towards the water you’ll suddenly encounter deep sand that might be hard to drive through.

Report Check-In

In our opinion the nicest beach in the vicinity of Loreto. Easy access and driving along the sandy beach with 2 WD. No other campers. Great ocean scenery. Good kayaking to the islands 2-3 km offshore with many pelicans, blue footed boobies and cormorants.

Report Check-In

Nice beach, watched porpoises in the water for a while.
Was told the sting rays will dance here for you.
The beach was free and some sections soft. We drove to the very end to turn around and then found a spot by a tree. The caretaker of the private land just off the beach came by to let us know about the fisherman who launch late and return even later at night.
No facilities but a good place for a quiet night if you are further down the beach.
The fisherman use the area close to the mouth of the river.

Report Check-In

Black sand beach. Sand is deep. We parked at the south end near the shrines on the beach. 4x4 recommended for the deep sand. A few fishermen on the beach overnight near the river mouth. No problems. Nice and quiet.

Report Check-In

I'm cycle touring the Baja. I began to set up my tent late afternoon/early evening when a local walking the beach told me it wasn't safe to camp.
I was in a dilemma as the light was beginning to fade. Luckily, an RV camper parked behind the beach on private property allowed me to camp near his rig. He told me he himself had been robbed recently.
It's a beautiful place but unfortunately the safety issue is a big concern.

Report Check-In

too soft sand beach for our big rig . we stay on back of the beach with our 24 feet rv ...

Report Check-In

impossible for us to drive on the beach , soft sand , we stay one night on back . very windy ...

Report Check-In

Free camping on the beach at Playa Ligüi. To access follow sign from Highway 1 for Parque Marina Nacional just a bit after the shops in Ligüi. Beautiful spot. No facilities except a garbage can and one palapa but the wind was so strong while we were here that it was half destroyed. We didn't really understand the fenced area. We didn't bother finding the entrance to it and just parked in front of it on the beach next to the palapa. Lots of fisherman coming and going at all times, friendly guys. We were camping alone until our last night when a large group of locals turned up and camped right next to us (the whole beach to chose from and that's where they set up camp!) they were loud all night.

Report Check-In

Free beach spot. No facilities, just garbage pickup. Met some of the local fisherman (of which there were many each day dropping their boats in.) Had a couple sketchy visits from Municipal Policia and Army, besides them felt pretty safe. Met the park's caretaker, (Rico) very kind man who spoke excellent English. Dirt road in is soft but should be passable by any vehicle. Although it says no dogs and no fires, both were not a problem for anyone who came along.

Report Check-In

great place, spent 2 weeks there. was able to make it on a class a motorhome to the end of the beach, although had some struggle getting out of there :) 2 groceries stores around, sometimes wind gets 3G signal here

Report Check-In

Right on the beach. Some palapas for shade, but no other facilities. Likely to be fisherman here. You will have to drive through an arroyo to get here.Make sure there is no rain in the forecast!
