Just a nice very quiet camping ground. Overlook volcan Ruminahui and Cotopaxi (see details below). Free, of course.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The road to this campground is blocked off with rocks. Don't know if permanently or not.
Report Check-InAwesome place overlooking the Cotopaxi, Rumiñahui and laguna. Super quiet and free. Many hiking posibilities from here. You can park anywhere.
Near to the Main Road, there are a little and clean Creek where it's possible bring water. Stayed here five days, totally recommended!
Nice wild camping. There is two places where you can camp and they both have a firering (bbq style). One is at the very end of the little road you follow to go to the GPS point and the second one is half way on the same road on your right. From the second one you see both Volcanos ( Cotopaxi, Ruminahui) but your are a little more exposed to wind.
Report Check-InOnly free place to sleep in the park... and you can't see the volcano from there 😒 But still a nice quiet place with beautiful sunset if you can get it
Report Check-InNothing here - no trees no water nothing. But if your by bike you can hide your staff in the bushes and go hiking to Ruminahui next day! But do it early. It gets cloudy early. We left at 6 and were back at 13 so it's hard work!
Report Check-InQuiet, peaceful, protected from the wind. Condors overhead, caracaras on the ground. Water available from canal that crosses the street at the turnoff to camping area.
Report Check-InWe asked a ranger at the entrance "El Caspi" and he told us, this offical camping area is free. No facilities!
We had the hole place for us.
Good place to rest. There’s noting but a fireplace you can warm yourself a bit. Less windy than the other option in the park.
Report Check-Inspend a night here... very high, so the body don't like too much, but the view of the volcano... and the climate was very good... recommend! nice experience for all, and very very safe! perfect wildcamping
Report Check-Innice place for one night. dirt road is okay..a bit bumpy and maybe not recommendable after heavy rain.
very quiet night and not too cold. temperature above 0 Celcius.
free.
Very nice place inside the park. Very cold at night because of the height (3900 msnm aprox). Super quiet
Report Check-Inquiet place where nobody here . Free. It is the zone allowed to camping
Tranquilo lugar donde no hay nadie. Gratis. Es la zona permitida para acampar.
Report Check-InGreat place to camp before and after climbing partway up Cotapaxi
Report Check-InWe came here to enjoy the mentioned 2 nice walks. Both turned out to be short bush toilet trails. But for camping this spot should be nice and wind protected.
Report Check-InA nice little place that was protected from the wind. There is an old fireplace (perhaps left over from a previous building?) but not sure of the park rules in regards to open fires. You can see the road (200 yards away) but there aren't many cars passing by and it's quite peaceful. Lots of birds, rabbits, deer, and wild horses.
There is a sign at the turn off that says: Camping Area so perhaps this is the other official overnight area. No facilities.
Report Check-InThis spot is really covered from wind. Come here and spend a cool night. There is a big fireplace so do not forget to bring wood with you. no facilities, free
Report Check-InJust a nice very quiet camping ground. Overlook volcan Ruminahui. Free, of course.
Report Check-InAs of Apr 2017 there are only 2 places they will allow you to camp overnight. this is one of them. very large space. flat spots available. nice hiking trails on both ends. zero services. cold and quiet and wonderful with a gorgeous view of the lake
