Description

Between Gamba and Sette Cama: white soft sand piste, only possible in a sturdy 4x4. Don't even think of attempting this on a heavy GS bike, unless you're a Dakar pro.

This road will be upgraded to red piste in the near future.

There will be no piste constructed, the locals say that for the last 15years the government has promised a piste. But they haven’t started up till now.

Report Check-In

Road from Gamba to Sette Cama extremely difficult. Soft sand piste for over 30kms. First 15km is hard gravel track which then changes to soft sand. Three water crossings one over 70/80m long. Did this on an Africa twin but deflated tyres and rode quickly the whole way. Got stuck once and 4x4 pulled my bike out. The sand and water is not a good combination for heavy bikes. Hard work but defo worth while when you get there. On the way back I stayed off the tracks and it took 45 minutes back to gamba so recommend making your own tracks

(We were 3 bikes and one 4x4). Deep sand. Motorbikes will suffer/not make it. 4x4 not easy as well. We drove just after heavy rainfall which was good because the sand was less thin but we had to cross several deep water crossings (30-100cm). Sette Cama lovely little village. Everybody was friendly and we camped for free. Bring everything you need, there is only a small shop with basic expensive tin cans. You can see elephants, turtles, hippos, etc. Very nice place indeed to stay a day or 3.

Difficult route to Sette Cama, but worth the ride. First 20km good piste. After that a lot of soft sand. We had the luck there was heavy rain the dat before, so managed to do it in 4hours. Did have to cross some pretty deep puddles.
We were with 3 bikes and a 4x4 van.
