Sweat spot! Next to the lake. Great to visit Tikal from there. Aminities are nice. We did see scorpions and spiders. So be aware!

Nice spot! Right next to the lake! Bathrooms are super clean and you can charge your vechile! Road nice is very acceptable.

Would def recommend this place. Also after (in our opinion a bit misleading reviews before) this place is beautiful and perfect for Overlanders. Beautiful view, palapas to use, electricity, good (cold) shower and decent bathroom. No WiFi but phone signal is working perfect. Camping offers enough to chill and relax.
If you want to use the hotel facilities why not book the hotel?

The place where the restaurant is, is really beautiful but it changes a lot entering the campsite (there is way more simple)
toilets + shower nice
the wifi is not reaching until the campsite and they are not really happy if you just sit in the restaurant area to get a good signal. the woman on the front desk even ask us to pay extra just for sitting there (we did not do it bc it seemed ridiculous)

Report Check-In

overpriced for the place. 100Q / pax / night. An owner who does not have a sense of customer service. If you want to sit on chairs, you have to pay 50Q more. I've never seen this. The place remains beautiful

We went there to ask about the conditions. The receptionist told us the price would be 100 Q per van. I asked her again per van or per person? She confirmed per van (only camping without using the facilities of the hotel. But toilet and shower are on the campsite and are included in the price). Then she showed us the spot. When we went back with her to the reception we asked her for a business card with her name and the conditions in case that we will stay here, after our visit in Tikal, with the van. She went to her office and when she came back she gave me the business card. I immediately had a look at it and saw that the price is double now. Suddenly they ask for 100 per person. I asked her why there is a different price now and she told me that she was not sure and asked the manager... She said if we would stay 1 month it would be 100 Q for the both of us.

DON’T BOTHER!

Charged me 100 Quetzals for me alone with a tent and motorcycle. Non negotiable. Fair rip off.
Seemed like a nice place at first then progressively went downhill.

Camping area wasn’t maintained and the showers were cold. Bathrooms were average at best. Road noise through the night and they turned off the power in the camping area at about 6pm just as it was getting dark.
But the real kicker was that they neglected to mention they were hosting a triathlon coming right through the middle of the campground starting at 7am. Made worse by a truck pulling up 3m behind my tent (lights on and engine left running) at 5am for them to setup barriers and a PA system which was then tested with blaring music from 6am.
Needless to say I packed up as the competitors were arriving and got the hell out of there. I also think if I’d not left when I did that I would’ve been stuck for the morning as they’d blocked off the only way in and out.
The upside…nice enough view. But I don’t think it’s worth the 100 quetzals.

Beautiful and quiet campsite right by the lake - you can swim in the refreshing water throughout the day. There’s strong cell signal, plus good Wi-Fi at the restaurant. Seems like there’s relatively new bathrooms, with 3 nice toilets and 3 nice showers + sinks and another set of sinks for washing up. I planned to stay 1 night, ended up staying 3!

We thought this was too expensive. They wanted 100Q p/p for the camping area and an extra 50Q p/p to use the hotel facilities (the wifi, kayaks etc). The showers are clean and now have lights, and there are electrical points under the ranchitos/palapas. We much preferred our night at Restaurant Ernesto- with a much more pleasant pier area, with hammocks and swings. It was quarter of the price there. That all being said however, it is more peaceful and secluded at Gringo Perdido.

Nice camping spot by the lake, great location and safe, access to main hotel for free coffee and good wifi, depending on price kayaks available and other amenities, excellent views, private dock only for campers 100q/p totally worth it bathrooms are new and showers to but no light fixture yet pretty clean

It was raining and - afraid we could not make it up the next morning - we did not dare driving down the rather steep, sandy and slippery short section of the access road :o(

Great place to relax. The hotel / restaurant area is beautiful! Paddle boards, kayaks, diving platform, hammocks everywhere. Little paradise.
It's expensive for camping (70Q/p), but it's covid so we gladly help with our contribution, and the place is worth it!

Can not enter the camping part with a 24 feet..

Great place, we had the campsite all to ourselves and left our dog while visiting Tikal.
There is a beautiful dock at the campsite from which you can jump for a refrwshing swim. WiFi was super fast, though you have to go use it at the restaurant. Very friendly staff.
As other have mentioned, there's pittoilets and the shower is not really fancy.

Peaceful spot right on the lake with drop toilets, no electricity, no water. One good spot with cabana and table but there's a guy living there in his camper about half the year. Otherwise hard to find a good flat spot. Not great lake access for swimming but nice view.

PROS: beautiful spot, right on the eastern edge of Lago de Peten Itza, electric hookup, sink area by showers for washing dishes. CONS: pit toilets with no doors (?!), cold shower was a trickle of water out of a pipe coming out of the ceiling, entire place was deserted so none of the hotel facilities were open (restaurant etc), no internet, too far from town to walk for supplies so make sure you bring everything you need... 50 GTQ/person/night
