Description

Rancho Bruno is a recreational place where they facilitate small concerts (small podium), parties etc. They offer small cabanas for 30 Sol per night. We haven't seen them from the inside. We camped here with our roof tent and 4x4 car. There are several sun-protected picnic places. We put a tent under one of them. We didn't have to pay for our stay. We gave a woman who takes care of the place 10 Sol for our 2 night stay. There are toilets available which are not very clean. No shower. Tapwater is also available, not potable. There is electricity. No wifi. For the entrance road to Rancho Bruno you have to go to waypoint 13°09′05.86″S 74°14′00.01″W.

IMPORTANT: Use Camino a Mirador from Via Los Libertadores without any shortcuts or you’ll end up stuck in the supper narrow streets of the hill neighborhood. The shortcuts are mostly stairs not even roads but Google doesn’t know that so just stick to the main roads.

Latest Check-Ins

We planned to stay a couple of days at Rancho Bruno to enjoy the carnival. However, we never received snow answer to our WhatsApp message sent two days prior to our planner arrival. Therefore we decided to to not take the risk going there for nothing.
I think it’s a pity, that people who are generating income (and might even be depending on it) through tourism, don’t respond to messages. This is the 2nd time within 14 days we’re experiencing his behaviour.

We spent one quiet night here. Fantastic view and very soft cat!
Madga was very welcoming and let us use the shower of the room she rents. It has warm water now. It’s clean enough, we didn’t contact them in advance so they were not expecting anyone. The room is very rustic with just bed an old tv and a small table.
The outside toilets are very clean.

It’s better to arrive before 6 so you can enter the gate. From there it’s some 100m up to reach their house so they will not be able to see you if you are at the barrier in the late evening.

You should know the ranch is pretty high up in a hill above the city. But it’s a nice base away from the sounds of the city. There are spots to tent camp, as well as a couple rooms for rent with cold showers. There’s a public bathroom with only toilets for campers. The owners were so nice! We asked about camping when we arrived, and they said the price was 30 soles per night (not donation based). After bargaining, we landed on 20 soles plus some photographs of the property. We left our car there and went to town. You can get easily between the ranch and the city on the Corredor Azul bus for 1.50 soles which has its last stop a couple blocks downhill from the ranch. The cheapest mototaxi charged us 12 soles from several blocks closer than the plaza to the ranch. We returned at 10:30 PM and Bruno offered for us to stay in one of the rooms for no extra cost so we wouldn’t have to set up our tent. There are several dogs, as well as horses and donkeys. You can rent horses and ATVs. Lots of trees for hammocks. There’s an outstretched metal hand for pictures and a wooden heart. There are covered areas with chairs and tables with a great view to eat or work. They told us there was wifi but we didn’t try it. There’s an on site restaurant but we didn’t try it. There’s a basic tienda. The property has a nice view over the city of Ayacucho. Recommended for a safe place to stay ✌🏼

We arrived late after dark and the gate and restaurant was closed. Magda and her son came down to the gate and were super happy to see us. They let us in and let us camp for the night. Woke up to an incredible view of Ayacucho! They asked us for a donation and we chose to pay 40 sol for the both of us but you can probably pay less if you want. Perfect place for a stop over on the way from the coast to Lima.

This is a great campspot with fantastic view over ayacucho. Tranquillo and save. Hosts are very friendly, electricity and toilets available. Take the gravelroad at S 13.1511, W 74.2333 and follow the road, you will find some signs to rancho bruno.

Do not follow Maps.me. From there you go all the way to the mountainridge. Ask for Ranch Bruno and the most people show you the way. It was a nice and relatively quiet stay. The campsite is around 300 m above the city.
