Place is safe and free. On weekends parking tends be full between about 4 and 8pm. The disadvantage of the place is the large tv screen just 10 meters away, which plays the same advertisement sound in an endless loop day and night. Would I have known before we would have stayed at the Sani Lodge Office (see our new entry there)

First Ecuador camping spot after crossing the border. Free to camp. Note that this town is called Coca—no clue why iOverlander doesn’t label it that. Busy parking lot on a Friday night, though it thinned out before it got late. There is a television mounted right by the parking lot on the malecon that is blaring video and music clips. It was seriously so, so loud into the night. It was on even though there weren’t any people there. That was the only downside. Not sure whether it’s on every night, or just Fridays. A person from the mall stopped by to say there was vigilance and the lot was “very secure.” It isn’t gated or anything, but we didn’t have issues. There is a bathroom in the arcade area on the third floor of the mall. Don’t know what the hours are. A young person at the food court gave us the WiFi password, though he was hesitant.

Overnighted here on a Sunday night. Paid the parking lady $5 for two vehicles so she would watch the cars while we walked around in town. I’m sure we could have paid nothing but she was helpful. Arrived around 4pm and it’s kinda busy with people strolling on the malecon. Completely quiet by 11pm. Well lit and safe. A good nights rest with password free Wi-Fi from the museum.

Flat, no height restrictions. Would definitely stay again.

We stopped to have lunch, still perfect place to sleep. Not sure how much they will charge you.

Nice and secure parking lot! In front of the malecon, toilets in the mall or the museum, wifi in the malecon (if your lucky even reaches the car), water near the artisans cabins. Some people in the afternoon, but very quiet night!

It's still a secure and quiet parkinglot.
The guardian were very friendly. Its guarded 24h

The construction now blocks access to this spot completely. It was possible to park in front of the Navy station a few streets east closer to the bridge. Seemed safe but a bit dirty with all the fish trade and stray animals. We ended up meeting a German expat and got an invitation to park at the street she lives on. She may be listing her cul-de-sac in iOverlander soon. :)
