We did Kyrgyztan -> Uzbekistan. No money asked. Although everything was quite chaotic inside, it took probably less than one hour to cross, but we were with our bicycles so we took the pedestrian way. It seemed that the wait time was much worse for vehicles. A lot of trucks, and the gate was closed.
Report Check-InContrary to previous comments, for us it was the worst border of the trip so far (KG - UZ). It took us a total of 5 hours, of which almost 4 hours were of pointless waiting in which they only let the trucks pass. The paperwork was also a bit chaotic on the part of the officers. They searched the vehicle thoroughly and asked us 4 times about the drone, so hide it well! Despite all this, the officers were kind.
Report Check-InAn absolute pleasure after the last series of border crossings. Very friendly teams on both sides and everyone seemed to know where Cape Town is and that Africa is not a single country - we passed through both sides in around an hour.
Report Check-InNeither on usbekian side nor on kirgisian side any fee or problems. The quickest border crossing in Central Asia until now. After 1 hour we were in Kirgisistan.
Report Check-InFrom Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan:
A lot of trucks, that we’re waiting in line infront of the fence. The guy at the fence told us, that he would let us pass but as soon as he opened the gate all the truck drivers started moving and there was no way for us to get through between them. After waiting for a few minutes they finally let us through. A military guy then asked us to clean our numberplate, as our car was very dirty from the Pamir, but the numbers were still visible so it was clearly just to state his power. He checked the van very carefully and kept asking questions in Russian, although I made it clear that I don’t speak any Russian. He was smelling like a dead animal from his mouth and I nearly vomited every time he started speaking to me. He touched everything in the van especially my clothes (female). Up to today I am still disgusted. Oh and on top of that he made it clear, that he thought I looked hot on my passport picture but don’t look good anymore now. Probably the worst border crossing due to this guy. I hope he finds a good dentist.
The Kyrgyz side was very fast and easy. No checking of the car, passport stamps and TIP were given fast and well explained. Friendly people.
Report Check-InFrom Uzbekistan to Kirgizstan, very fast and efficient border. It all took less then 45 minutes the and process showed itself. They wanted to see our dog passport, but all was fine. Nothing to pay and TIP for 12 months for the car was no problem. Keep the paper they give you.
Report Check-InFrom Uzbekistan to Kirgistan. Nobody asked to see registration from UZ, no attempts of corruption, no environmental fee for the car on entering KG. In total one hour.
Report Check-InFrom UZ to KG. All in all this was Central Asia’s easiest and fastest border crossing. In total just one hour. Both side allows passenger to join driver for passport check in the car lane. So no need to go to the separate building and queue. On the KG side remember to get a 12 months TIP paper just opposite the passport control - you will need it to exit the country later.
Report Check-InCrossed from Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan by motorcycle. Typical ball busting on the Uzbekistan side, and the most thorough luggage search I've had yet, but the customs portion was quick and it only took an hour in total. The folks on the Kyrgyzstan side are brusque but efficient. took all of 5 minutes to get stamped in and told to "go." after I left, I realized that I was never given any kind of paper for my vehicle, so later that night I returned and asked them to give me the 12 month temporary import permit. they were nice and did so, which took about 30 minutes, no charge. it seems because on entry I had told the customs agent I was going to Osh - and didn't explain my bigger plan to park the bike and return next year - that he didn't think a temporary import permit (of any duration) was needed. so, make sure you get the piece of paper from them, and might as well ask for the full 12 months. if for some reason you forget, like me, you can go back anytime that day until 11:59pm. if you come after midnight or on any other day, you will most likely need to exit Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan and come back again.
Report Check-InEntered Uzbekistan through this port again. The Kyrgyz side was very fast and no real check. At the Uzbek side the saw a laptop. The guard saw this as a opportunity to go through a lot of personal videos. At a certain moment it became quite intrusive, we asked him to stop since there was no important stuff there anyway. He continued until his boss summoned him to stop. This made him annoyed and he wanted to check everything again. Long story short: hide your laptop and camera.
Report Check-InWe entered from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan. Other travellers (a month earlier) told us that they needed to empty their whole car at the Uzbek side. In our case they were really thorough. All together the crossing took about 3-4 hours. 30 Minutes at the Kyrgyzstan side and quite a while at the Uzbek side. No signs of corruption though
Report Check-InSuper fast borders. Only tricky parts are:
1) entering Uzbekistan they will ask if you have any drone. So hide it pretty well!!! They don’t check everything but... hide it!
2) entering kirghistan: sometimes can happen the costumer waits some tips... DON’T PAY AT ALL!!!! After few minutes they will let you enter. Don’t pay!!
Report Check-InWe crossed from KYRGYZSTAN to UZBEKISTAN. Very easy. We didn't pay anything (also not when entering Kyrgyzstan). On Kyrgyzstan side they let us past all the other cars. So Kyrgyzstab side was very quick. On Uzbekistan side also very friendly, they checked the car very rigorous. Making jokes and then we were welcome in Uzbekistan
Report Check-InIn the last booth on the right on the Uzbek side of the border it is possible to exchange money (good rate!)
Report Check-InUZB -> KYR
OK border crossing. A bit chaotic as always and the little houses and huts look dodgy. (but they work)
Uzbek side took 30 minutes, guards were VERY friendly, making jokes, laughing etc. little English.
Kyrgyz side took 60 minutes, not very friendly but also not hostile. Almost no english. We paid nothing to cross with 2 people and a 1992 VW transporter.
Report Check-InWe went from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan.
Very simple process on motorbikes.
No charges and an hour in total.
Handed passports and bike Reg over, well copy.
Very friendly, only checked top layers of our panniers.
we have a Fiat ducato Adria.we did enter from Kirghizstan to Ouzbékistan. we didn't pay any environment taxes any side of borders. once you have crossed you don't have exchange office so you can change your som into sum to black way.
be careful to present your paper for the car from russia if you have crossed russia! Kirghizstan will keep this paper.
we did cross in one hour time. many people. Ouzbékistan control our car inside and my personal hand bags. no problem with the drone that we did hide properly. be careful with that and medicine.
you do have to register if you stay less than 30days.
crossing only took just over an hour. everybody was very helpful. paid nothing. was clearly asked four times if I had a drone. luckily I had sent it home with DHL in osh.
Report Check-Incustoms very nice and helpful. the pollution tax is 2500 som (we have a camper), you can cross the border to make change now.
