Amazing views of the waterfall with picnic tables, fire pits and a pit toilet. BC recreational area offering 2 main camping spots and checked with rangers, it is free and you are allowed here. Best place we have camped so far!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Just two places, it’s a rec site above falls. However, this place come with a job 😅 Every 10 mins, people stopped by to look for a trail to waterfalls, so all afternoon we were guides. I put a sign at the beginning of the rec site…it helped little bit but you won’t be alone here 😁
Report Check-Inofficial free BC rec site with 2 spots. the better view spot we got but arrived at 4pm on a Tuesday. was lots of people that came by later and didn't get spots as it had filled up.
it is true lots of people think there is a walk that starts from this rec site to wapta falls. the actual walk starts at Fraser creek rec site another few km down the road! we weren't bothered too much by visitors and just had nice chats with them!
amazing view but no direct water access
Amazing spot. Beautiful view and white noise from the waterfall. However be prepared for tourists. Every day upwards of 20 people come by asking if it's the hiking trail, and many will want to walk through your campsite to take a look. We even had multiple people pull right into the campsite and walk through to look at the falls without asking or saying hi. many tourists treat it as a public viewpoint despite the clear signs that it's a campsite. at first it was fine and I was happy to redirect people/let them see the view, but after the 10th visitor in an hour it got old.
Report Check-Incorrection, there are to bigger sites with a picnic table, and it seems like someone was tenting in the woods between the two sites, there is a firepit all three places.
Report Check-InAs cool as the other reviews say. No problem with our 24ft RV. We had the place to our self at this time. There is one pinic table, which have been moved. So hard to see how we could fit more vans/RVs without wanting to share, if all should be level.
Report Check-InAmazing place, in believable view of falls.
Only two sites at this rec site and the first has the view.
We scored and then had a few people stop to say hi (sneak a peak) and take pics.
MOSQUITO CENTRAL! The view of the falls were great, but we mainly sheltered in the RRT due to insane amount of blood suckers in the area. While the views were nice, we'd recommend finding a spot along the water after the bridge early on. You'll get a few tourists asking how to get to the falls and a fair amount fo people also looking for camping spots. (there were only maybe 2? at this location).
Report Check-InA bit tiny but really nice.
The view is stunning.
White sound level from the waterfall is moderate.
Amazing location at Wapta Falls Recreation Sites. There are only two sites and one makeshift one and a pit toilet. Sites have picnic tables, fire pits and amazing views of the Wapta Falls and mountains. What a gem!
Report Check-InSuper busy a month ago (several groups for only 2 spots), we came back in mid-September and managed to get the second spot as it was super quiet. Great to wake up with the sound of waterfalls, it was pretty cold in the morning, but we found a lot of dry wood to burn. Perfect!
Report Check-In4 camping places, fire pits, pit toilets. 8,8 km gravel road. two entrances to the campsites. fist one is bumpy, 2nd one is better. no big rigs. 20 ft max.
Report Check-InReally gorgeous spot. One of our favorites. 4x4 is ideal as it was muddy
Report Check-InBusy place with a great view. More space by the river, but worth at least talking a look at the view.
Report Check-InGreat view nice place! Both places are not very flat but everything else is perfect!
Report Check-InThe view is beautiful as promised but there are only two real "campsites" here unless people are willing to share. I was here on the long weekend and there were tourists every hour asking how to get to the Wapta Falls trailhead. I actually preferred camping at the spot by the river closer to the highway.
Report Check-Inamazing view, and bonus points: no mosquitos atm, writing this at 8:40pm!!
Report Check-InOnly few Places and 20min drive on gravel road. but very nice view and pit-toilet:)
Report Check-InOnly 2 camping spots here, but they are both big enough to consider sharing with fellow travelers. (As others have mentioned, there is a 3rd “spot” but it has no view, is very small and steeply angled. Not very usable) PS: bring bug deterrents as there are tons of mosquitos!
Report Check-InWe got here mid-day and got one of the two spots. It was a rainy day and the one entrance/exit was a pretty deep mud puddle. The other entrance/exit was completely fine. Was able to make it here in my Ford Transit fine. You can get here in a car if you wanted. There are pit toilets and fire pits.
Report Check-InAlthough we didn't sleep here, we came by during the day and the place is amazing, such a great views. We managed to get a good spot around noon. It was pretty calm and with empty spots at around 5pm when we left. There is definitely room for more people here, it just depends on how people park and if they are willing to be nice.
Report Check-InThis place is so sick!! Definitely worth it. Have an quiet. Rolled up at 7:30 and found a spot in July. Must be not well known. Amazing view of the falls.
Report Check-InStunning view! The road was bumpy but doable with our 20ft RV. Stayed here for lunch. Lots of wasps!
Report Check-In2 stunning sites with fire rings n picnic tables..... pit toilet across the road.
Report Check-InNice place with 2 spots. A third place can be used between the two others if you have a small car.
Some people shared a site.
A little bit steep to set up the tent.
Fire rings, pit toilets.
Beautiful view on the Wapta Falls.
Good Gravel road from the bridge to arrive.
Wow wow wow best campspot ever. great view!!!! poor gravel road to get there with 10000000 potholes but no hills. the only thing is the excessive amount of mosquito a bit annoying but best spot i've seen. only 2 good sites available and one poor one. its pretty busy too
Report Check-InStunning view. Worth getting there early, I manage to get the last spare spot & a few people drove past afterwards. Take some deet and some beers, sit back & enjoy.
Report Check-InAmazing spot! Would recommend this to anyone! There are only three spots, but just ask to share if they are all full. We meet some great people this way!
Report Check-InAs described. The trail to the falls starts further down the gravel road left of the bridge.
Report Check-InBeautiful BC Rec Site with great views. There are two spots. At the moment there is a campfire ban.
Report Check-InWonderful view ! Thank for sharing ! Note : there is restroom across the road just in front of the spot. Please don't leave your restroom papers everywhere...
Report Check-InBeautiful place to overnight. Pretty muddy after lot's of rain. Lot's of mosquitos if you like them. Didn't stop.
Report Check-Inwonderful view on the wapta falls and the mountains. Fire pit and table available for picnic. there are two campsites here.
Report Check-InAmazing views of the waterfall with picnic tables and fire pits. Several camping spots and checked with rangers and it is free and you are allowed here. Best place we have camped so far!
