We visited Mike to find a solution for the broken struts of the roof of our campervan. Eventually we got an emergency solution with struts of the wrong size he had in stock, because an exact replacement couldn't be found in Laos.

Mike is 76 years old and slowly phasing out the workshop. From 22 employees he had in the past he went to two.

The whole process was rather inefficient; I ended up spending the whole day in the workshop.

Keep your eye on the bill. Good mechanic, but tends to pad the bill especially if he thinks you can afford it.

Great place - Mike has a lot of experience and a variety of spares too. Even for Landies! No need to call ahead, just turn up and he'll find you a space. He's also happy for you to hang around and help out with the work. The entrance is near the specialised import product building, down a track, on the left.

The Canadian Mike has here a huge garage. All type of auto and truck repair. If you use some of his services you can stay for free at his site as long as you want to.

If you have repairs to be done you can stay at Mike Murphy’s workshop during that time. Clean, high roof, toilet, shower, electricity, wifi. Near the counsular section of the Thai embassy. Entrance through gate of „Specialized Products Import/Export Ltd.“ opposite Bounnam supermarket.
