We drove the 100km from Tierradentro to Popayan on a really rainy day. It took us in our 2wd MB Sprinter 5 hours, including a break of 30 min in front of a landslide. From Cordoba until Popayan its pavement,
before its a slow drive over rocky but solid terrain and once in a while paved road. Only one really tricky part, where a mudslide took the road away.
Bring patients and high clearance, 4wd not necessary.

We came from Tierrodentro and so started a few hundred metres from here. There are still some paved sections enroute to Popayan. There were short sections enroute from Tierrodentro as they are improving the road. There are slick sections in rain.

pavement goes a bit beyond this point now but not much. they are working on it, but it's going to be some time before this route is good. no problem for 4x4 but the vehicles we saw without 4x4/high clearance were really struggling in wet,muddy conditions. More difficult west-bound heading towards Popayan as the muddy sections are all up-hill in that direction.

From Popayan paved road end here and let place at 30km of muddy/gravel road. We did it with our eurovan vw but 4x4 would be really helpfull. It was really the limit that we can do with our van. From this point it took us 2.5h to reach tierradentro
