What a view! Perched on the hillside about halfway up Spreetshoogt Pass, this campsite should not be missed. All 3 sites (including one 4 bed chalet) look West over the valley, with amazing sunset views. Each site has its own ablution, with flush toilet. Water is donkey heated, lit yourself. All sites have their own braai as well. Owners Hugh & Ester live nearby and sell braai wood and meat. We stumbled on the place without a booking, finding their business card in an ablution block. Before we had a chance to call, he arrived to see to us. You may find more luxurious camps, but none as stunning as Spreetshoogte Campsite. 120N$ pppn.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Beautiful place with a stunning view. This is THE reason to stay here overnight. Ablutions are simple and ok. Water was available (non drinking).
Report Check-InWhen we arrived there was no water from any of the taps and the toilet and shower were smothered in animal poo. The owner turned up about 6pm (we couldn’t call as no signal) and said the water pipe must have been broken by baboons. He thought he had fixed it and said the water would take a little while to pump up here, but by morning there was still no water. And with no water, they couldn’t clean the ablutions and the toilet wouldn’t flush so pretty unpleasant. The view is great and the facilities could be great, but I’d recommend calling ahead to check if they have actually managed to fix the water, and so they can clean. Phone number is 081 268 8259
Report Check-InStunning view over sunset! Saw 3 klipspringers when we arrived. Campsite is Located by the road but very rarely you see a car. Gate is open but no one is there. Water was hot because of the sun but firewood was available in case we wanted to heat up the donkey. Toilets weren't very clean because of gecko poop, but facilities are fine. There was even toilet paper. Shade from the veranda lasts until around 4pm then reduces as sun comes down. Worth at least one night visit for sure! We stayed from 5pm until 11:30am next day and no one came. A sign at the entrance shows a cellphone number but we didn't have any credits to call and also MTC network is not available, so we left without paying...
Report Check-InA very basic campsite at the Spreetshoogte Pass, but for sure the one with the absolutely best view.
3 shady places close to each other, but with own ablutions and showers (hotwater with a donkey).
Charging abilities are existent via a small solar powered USB-Hub.
Ester - the manager - is taking care of her customers very well and is a very friendly and supportive person.
We stood there for two nights and enjoyed the absolutely stunning sunset as well as the astonishing view over the valley.
There's probably no manager at the site, but Ester will see you, when you arrive, so just take a free site
and wait for her to arrive.
Price: 150N$ pPpN
Report Check-InAgree with all previous comments. Paid $150 pppn. Just show up, start your braai and the owner will show up. Really easy going and quiet place with a stunning view. (Sundown over valley).
Donkey shower, braai spot, one USB charge point and private ablutions and shade ‘terrace’ . Not super clean (but OK) at the time we stayed.
Recommended.
Report Check-InPaid 300 for 2 persons with car and tent; hot water by donkey; USB-charging by solar Paneel available
Report Check-InThis is truly a gem! As described below. Simple, but clean and the view is breathtaking. Very friendly owner, didn't mind our old dog. 150N$ pp

Better call them from a place with good network connection, right in front of the entry net is weak. We managed to send a SMS though.
