Something not right?

Description

Several spots on the edge of the lake with picnic tables. Really nice views. Don't come up the road from the South (it doesn't exist), come from the entrance off the highway to the north. Someone else said they brought big rigs here, but some of the spots are narrow with tight corners to access them, so be careful.

Latest Check-Ins

From the South entrance, there is a "no overnight" sign. We didn't stay and moved away from this area.

There are only 5 decent spots. A few have prebuilt tarps, maybe locals. You can enter from both directions. Lots Mosquito’s. One main spot in the middle. Unfortunately it was occupied. Drove back and took the second. Quiet night. Beautiful sunset

Report Check-In

the road is good coming from the north or the south entrance. no difference.

Report Check-In

Amazing spot, not too many mosquitoes, right on the lake with many individual spots just off the nain gravel road

I think I parked too early. I was anxious if there is enough space for a 25 ft RV and it rained. Found a nice spot overlooking the lake. There is a table with bench on a level below. A white cross is nailed to a tree. Didn't see anyone else. Not many alternatives in this area.

Beautiful! Good hard packed dirt road from the north part of highway.

Report Check-In

There is a road in from the south opposite the rest area didn’t test it but it sure looked like it connected all the way along. The lake side road is very long and pretty. Camped about halfway.

Report Check-In

We were looking for a place to stay in the general area to break up a long drive. We’re self-contained in our 8 metre (25 foot) MH and don’t use the facilities. We stayed on a Friday night in mid-September. We initially missed the turn for the north entrance to the lake road. We turned around at the rest area near the south entrance (did not check to see if the south entrance was passable) and used the north entrance. The Opus site appeared a bit steep for us. The coordinates are correct for this site. There’s a pull out on the lake side of the road and two short, small roads that go to additional sites with picnic tables just below the pull out. The 3 sites have fire rings and good views of the lake. There are 3 other similar sites ~300 m (0.2 mi) south. Decent dirt road even in the rain. No ATT or Verizon cell service. This site is relatively close to the Cassiar Highway and there is some road noise, yet not much traffic at night.

All 3 of these sites are accessed from Kitwanga Lake Road. We turned onto this road about 8km north of here. We don't know yet if there is a south access but all traffic we saw came in and went out via the north access.

This is the smallest and most difficult access site of the 3 having to back down a steep narrow curve to get here. But as a result it's the most private. And the cleanest. After the moderators note on the north site, we did not try to stay there. It was quite littered and looking like some permanents stay there. Some pretty noisy kids and dogs were active at the south site for the afternoon but far enough away to not bother us.

This is a great place to suntan on the dock and watch the fish and loons.

Wonderful spot. We followed the suggestions and came in from the north which worked. We were the only ones here. Nice view on the lake. The jetty is a bit rotten. Watch your step. The cross mourning some fellow here seemed a bit creepy to us.

If you're coming from the south, the roads don't connect like Google Maps says they do. They are either blocked off or so overgrown only a dirt bike could do it. So go 5km past it on the highway and approach from the north, where it's and easy dirt road all the way back. This is an amazing gem on iOverlander and I am glad I came here. Not sure how many spots there are. Mine had a picnic table, fire pit, and a little dock. But the next one (second one I think) had the most prime location, right on the very edge of the lake.

Stayed here one night. It's not to bad.... The landscape is very nice, and you have few spots along the lake. Unfortunately the highway is to close, so you have all the time the noise. So I haven't slept so good....

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

great place by the lake, several places to camp

Report Check-In

A wonderful quiet place right at the lake with tables, fire rings and a landing stage; yes, it seems some people don’t use this beautiful place in the respectful way as they should...PLEASE: Boys & GIRLS...if you’re doing YOUR Business...dig a hole and take your papers with you!!!...NOBODY wants to see these things!!...otherwise..stay at your home and learn how to do it in the woods..there is plenty lecture about this!
...we had some very calm nights here..and we cleaned a little bit up...it doesn’t hurt.
