A great alternative to staying at the formal campground at Springbokwasser Gate. Flat area off a dirt track just over a kilometer south of the C39. By the way, this track leads south to the Huab River and then to Twyfelfontein. It's a beautiful 4x4 track and takes about 7 hours total.

There is no sign indicating that you cannot camp. We spent the night and didn't see anyone. It's an incredible place . The milky way is seen perfectly.
Report Check-InBeautiful quiet and desolated place We pulled in at dusk and had a great quiet night However in the morning a tour truck stopped by and the driver came and talked to us. He was kind but told us that camping was not allowed in this area as it is a conservancy and we were also at risk for being robbed by locals passing by. We packed up and moved on.
Report Check-InWild camping near the C39 road to the Skaleton Coast gate. Flat area, no shadows. In my case it was raining, so no problem.
I came from the south after visiting the Doros Crater, beutifull track
Beautiful place indeed! Very quiet. Not very level but good enough. Some firepits are present. Just out of sight from the road.
