Comment: Camper broken in and all electronics and valuables stoles while kayaking
Wild camping on the beach. We had to keep going south after Santa Rosalia and turned east at a sign for Santa Ines with a playa symbol. The dirt road forks, stay right. A small sign hangs from a tree saying campers welcome. Only ones on the beach and woke up to multiple pods of dolphins playing in the bay.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The road has been closed. There is a gate and a sign of private property.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot, but don't leave your vehicle alone. Locals STOLE ALL OUR ELECTRONICS while kayaking. We informed ourselves afterwards and the people of the local ranch are known THIEVES!
Report Check-InWARNING
2 belgium guys (www.nomadfootprints.com) was robed today at this place when they was out of they car. Electronic devices and shoes were stolen.
Beautiful spot. Road is obviously recently maintained. Great free boondocking if the wind doesn't discourage you. There are a few nice fire rings folks have built but I wouldn't risk a campfire if the wind was up.
Report Check-InGreat little spot, very quiet, we had no problem getting there in our 2wd Sprinter
Report Check-InStayed two nights here. Followed the directions in the post and has no problems. A little windy and cooler when we visited, but we were still able to get out and enjoy the water. Beautiful clean beach with very very soft sand.
Report Check-InEasy enough to find and the dirt road in wasn't too bad. We made it just find in our truck camper with smaller trailer in tow. Nice beach warm water, several other overlanders here. Cheers
Report Check-InWe followed the directions below. They were perfect. Saw both signs (the one on the highway and the "campers welcome").
The road is pretty good. We didn't air down or use 4x4. We met a couple there who had driven a Subaru Impreza. High clearance would be useful, but if you can pick a line you won't have any trouble.
We drove past the GPS point all the way to the end of the road (you WILL need higher clearance to make it to the end) to a nice protected spot overlooking, but not on the beach.
There was tons of wildlife- Coyotes, hares, scorpions, hummingbirds, hermit crabs, all the usual sea birds, dolphins, and jumping dorado.
We also saw a bunch of balloon fish washed ashore. We had so much fun watching all the critters we finally broke down and drove into Mulege to buy snorkel gear so we could see the sea up close.. :)
A warning though- Our friends (the ones we met in the Subaru) had their car broken into while having breakfast at down the beach with us. The thieves broke out the window (even though the door wasn't locked) and stole two laptops and some other things. We were all surprised since we felt so isolated out there. It just serves as a reminder that you might not be as alone as you think. We're trying to be better about hiding and locking up our valuables and trying to keep the truck in sight when possible.
Despite the break-in I think this was our favorite beach camp so far. We stayed 3 days which is a new record for us!
Report Check-InBeautiful spot. Met with another iOverlander app user. Good times ! Wonderful spot...keep right at the fork.
Report Check-InAs described by others. Didn't see the signs. Maybe blown away by the hurricane. Stay right at the forks. Several spots to the beach seperated by a few hundred yards. Beautiful and clean.
Report Check-InAmazing secluded spot right on the sea. Like described, 3 mile road to get there is a rocky, dirt road. We made it fine in our 2wd vanagon, but opted to deflate tires coming out. Definitely worth the effort if your vehicle can make it. Again, keep right at both forks in the road when going in. Spent two nights out here with only one other camper down the road from us. Free!
Report Check-InAs described below from fellow travelers. Rough 6 km gravel rocky road but doable for camper vans/ pick ups. Not sure for trailers/ RVs. Keep right in both forks. Turn to the sign in the main highway for Playa Santa Ines. FREE
Report Check-InBeautiful, lonely beach spot! Many seashells and pelicans. Beautiful beach and ocean.
Report Check-InNice place to stay for a few days, quiet and a lot of wildlive like dolphins, ospreys, hummingbirds and pelicans.for free...
Report Check-InLike said before...beautiful, clean beach, very less garbage, we very totally alone, a lot of birds, butterfly and we saw dolphins.
Real nice place, quiet, good to swim, we loved it. The described way is exact! Thank you for spotting out that placed. We stayed overnight here.
Wind calms down at later afternoon
Rough road getting to the beach, just under 6km from highway. 4WD not necessary as long as you have high clearance. We didn't have problems with our above average clearance van but it was a bit stressful. Some dead fish on the beach and a small amount of garbage but otherwise beautiful. White sand, clear calm water, shallow beach, no one around for miles. One of the nicest beaches in Mexico so far. Sadly we didn't see any dolphins.
