Description

Overnight parking at the trailhead to Pacaya for free (park entrance 50q), toilets during the night available. They recommended a guide but let us go without. We started the hike at 6:30 and were completely alone, when we got back the entrance was full of tour groups, so don't go later! Worth the hike, great views!

We decided to leave. The price raised up to 100qtz/pp, also for the kids over 7yo. The guide is mandatory, 200qtz. We can't understand why it is 100% more expensive, for which reason?

We stayed here 2 nights for free. No problems, friendly people. Bathrooms are locked at night. Heard from other tourists that a woman came who demanded payment for parking, but it is free! There is a big parkinglot below and a smaller one up next to the ticket office. The 2nd one is better. Friendly dogs around.

That is the correct entrance for the national park. We paid 50 Q.p.P. for the entrance and 200 Quetzal for two persons for a long sunset guided tour. There is no active Lava at this time.

We arrived at night, and tried to climb up, but we got surrounded by guides saying that we have to pay... we asked to spend the night at the parking lot, and they let us stay for free. in the morning, 6:30 am before guides starts to come we speak with the security and he let us climb without a guide, we showed the way in maps me... We did everything solo, and its ridiculously easy, the way is fully marked, even without maps.me you can go, there's signs everywhere... recommend we climbed until the top of the Vulcano and see lava glowing 10 meters away.. it was amazing!

Stayed here two nights. Safe, clean bathrooms available all night.

We stay here one night. Safe. There is a option for shower in the Salamandra Hotel. We ask to the owner and allowed us to use the hot shower, paying Q10.

Overnight parking in front of the visitor's center. Free and safe (guard all night). Access to the bathrooms during the night.
Regarding the hike, it's now mandatory to take a local guide. The price is 200Q for the guide, plus 50Q per person for the entrance to the park.
If you want to reach the crater, which we highly recommend by the way, you have to go with the guide in the early morning or in the late afternoon. You'll have to pay an extra for that (100-200Q regarding your bargaining abilities).
