Description

Nice free camping spot in front of the Telica Vulcan. The trailhead starts here and it's an 2 hours return walk to the mouth of this nice crater. It's an active Vulcan, so be careful and ask some locals if it's save before you go up. 4wd required even in dry season cause some parts are very steep. We done it easily with our 4wd pickup in wet season. At daytime here some guys of the cooperation and ask for 5 usd per person to go up and at night time we were alone but felt very safe. Quit night and nice temperature. Highly recommend 👍

for a sunday was really chill - nobody wanted to collect money and we had this whole mountain for ourselves > kudos!

Perfect to hike to the crater and Climb the last 40 minuts. Path is easy an well marked in Yellow and White.
We slept here it’s very quiet.
We did it with a Hilux camper (small) .. 2.85m height … I think anything bigger/Higher would Not go

We managed to drive all the way up which our 4x4 VW Van. It’s totally worth it, but be aware the way isn’t easy. Especially the first part (till the old gate-see spot on IOverlander) is pretty bad washed out. After that it gets better, but steeper as well. If you can, try to reach the trailhead (this point) bc if has the nicest view and a big (uneven) lot to park.
It’s definitely a cool adventure, but without good weather and clear sight nothing more than a free place to park.
We did the hike (45min) to the crater in the evening and only saw clouds all around. We smelled the sulfur unfortunately no lava…

Very nice place to sleep while being surrounded by volcanoes. Some cars come here in the morning and in the evening to transport groups, but after dark it is extremely calm! Otherwise the rest of the passage is residents in mules, horse or motorcycles. To come here the last 8 km requires a high clearance 4x4, the track is narrow in width and height. Our car is 2.5m high and 2.2m wide, it goes, beyond it will have to cut branches. There are a few steps, slopes and places ravined by the rain. To climb to the crater it takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour, do not hesitate to stay after dark, if you are lucky you will see the lava in boiling, it is an incredible spectacle! Beware of gas fumes (sulfur dioxide?), it stings the eyes and throat. The sunrise and sunset can be beautiful, don't miss the bat cave (look at Maps.me) it is nice. ALL IS FREE!

The track is quite complicated, you absolutely need a 4x4 but arrived at the top we have an incredible view of the volcano. The hike to Crater is 30 min. We were alone it’s was so perfect.
