Description

Just after the miradora for Aconcongua, take a left, pass the buses and enter on the left side and drive through a series of booths for migracion and aduanas.
Efficient fast booth system but only one printer. Make sure you receive your temp import licence paper as Aduana guy who checked my vehicle did not know the system and was keen for me to go without it.

Latest Check-Ins

Very simple and efficient - less than 40 minutes on a Friday staying at 2pm.

Immigration told me I'd only get 3 months TIP. When I spoke to Aduana, I started with Can I please have 8 months like my friend (with photo of his TIP). She said no problem and disappeared to do the paperwork, and we got 240 days, from Mar 22 to Nov 17.

Sanesa asked for dog documents. As we pulled out the EU Pet Passport he said that's great. I went to show him the SAG papers from Chile and he wasn't interested. I double checked and he said, "no, pet passport is all we need".

To be honest I was slightly annoyed after all the effort we went through to get the proper docs. I don't recommend not getting the papers done in advance, unless you have time to return to Chile to organize.

Update on crossing Chile - Argentina (Santiago-Mendoza) on ruta 7
Customs indeed forgot to process my motorcycle and issue a TIP
So advice for those who enter Argentina, don’t leave without a paper TIP, despite being told that it’s all electronic
I’m at Aduana in Mendoza now, luckily they speak English and super friendly so it’ll be fixed

Report Check-In

Going from Argentina to Chile (USA plated car), walked up and confirmed you do NOT need to stop here. We were confused by previous posts so wanted to double check, and they told us to just go to the Chile border.

Report Check-In

The Argentinien Aduana claimed we didn't need a TIP for our German plated car, seemed like they did not know this kind of document so we had to be super persistent that we needed this, after talking to 5 colleges finally someone knew this. So really make sure you go through all the steps before leaving!

Report Check-In

Super quick for us. Only took about 15 minutes for the whole thing. Someone saw our pets and asked for the documents, so they are required. They asked for fruit and veg too, we gave up sacrificial onions and they barely look inside, let alone in the fridge. Told us to leave without a TIP, but made us one for 90 days when requested.

Report Check-In

Terribly experience. Queue was 5 hours and that was after we skipped a bit because we are on two small motorcycles. Unfriendly and rude staff. The Chilean aduana took our original poder and refused to give it back. The Argentinian’s didn’t want to let us in with a Chilean vehicle. Eventually made it through but really not a great border crossing.

Report Check-In

Argentina customs wouldn't let us in as we were foreigners owning a Chilean vehicle. We heard it had happened the day before to others and they went back at change of shift (8pm) and got across. We didn't bother as we're 50/50 about where we wanted to go next anyway.

Report Check-In

Added picture of roadsign (westbound) stating explicitly that the border for entering Chile is on the other side of the pass as of today. This is taken 150m before the pin.

Report Check-In

Border crossing facilities for Chile to Argentina only (integrated, formalities for both exiting Chile and entering Argentina in one place).

Do not stop here if you are going to Chile. The facilities for Argentina to Chile are on the Chile side, after the pass and the tunnel.

Report Check-In

This is the all in one building. BEWARE of low canopies at the kiosks. If your rig is tall, go to the end and park. Then get out and walk to windows. Check out of country first with migración . Then enter country. Then aduana for TIP. T
We passed from Chile to Argentina. They took a brief look into the camper but did not enter. After doing all the work for dog papers, no one asked. There is NO SENASA for Argentina at this crossing. Waste of time and money.
Verify your documents before leaving. Be sure VIN and names are correct. Check exit date. Do not lose the little slip of paper, you will need it at police checkpoint ahead.

ALL IN ONE, BOTH DIRECTIONS

Doesn’t matter if you come from Chile or go to Chile, this is the place you need to stop for both directions (when we passed this border today) It is a drive through and you will get everything done here.

If you come from Chile and go to Argentina, don‘t forget to keep your completely stamped little paper which you got right after the tunnel, because the next police checkpoint will want to check and keep it.

Everybody very nice!

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Ignore last comment. For sure this is the place to stop for when you enter argentina. Its 1 big building where all 4 steps need to be done. Migraccion for both, and aduana.

To make the proces more clear: when you leave Chile you pass a tunnel, after that you will get a ticket with the total amount of people and your license plate number. You continue for about 15 km. Then you enter the big building for the 4 processes (on the left side of the road, there are signs!). After that you continue into Argentina. There will be one more stop, here you need to give the police the ticket you received after the tunnel, now that same tickets needs 3 stamps on it. Stamps you will receive during the process.

Report Check-In

You don't need to stop here. The aduana of Argentina and Chile is on the side of Chile.

Report Check-In

If you leave Argentina you don‘t have to come here. You have to drive directly to the Aduana Chile „Los Liberatores“. We entered here and were told that it is not necessary and we need to drive further.

Report Check-In

If you leave ARG this ID the boarder Point for Immigration and give back your TIP

Report Check-In

Drive-thru style crossing into Argentina. Drive up to booth to aduana. No need for entrance stamp in passport, just vehicle check for veg/fruit, and new TIP for Argentina. Similar experience to last check in where aduana officer was not familiar with creating a new TIP so insist. Argentina TIP valid for 8 months.

Report Check-In

We were send to this place for the first check coming from Argentina.
Here you must show the document for leaving Argentina (www.argentina.gob.ar).
You also must fill in a form here for the car.
We are from Hollanda with an Chilean plate car/motorhome.

Report Check-In

Easy crossing, all friendly officers. They asked for vegetables. The only thing is that we were not allowed to take our extra jugs with ‘chilean gas’ on our roof...first time for us that that wasn’t allowed... we luckily were allowed to use it straight away and fill up our tank at the spot..

Report Check-In

Didn't even look in our vehicle, and didn't say anything about food!
Could not give us more than 90 days, said it was impossible in their computer system.
Friendly and quick.

Report Check-In

Efficient and king people. Both Chilean and Argentinean custom there. No fruit and vegetable accepted so make sure to eat everything before crossing.

Report Check-In

We were prepared to show the entire van and to open everything but it was a very quick control, no more than 15 minutes to do all the papers and go on. They just took a look inside but not in details.

Report Check-In

Arrived at 4:30 PM and it took more than 2 hours.

Report Check-In

Chile to Argentina
just outside the tunnel you get a paper with stamp, licenceplate and number of persons. Drive on for 20k until Horcones, drive left. Single chilean-argentine immigration stamp at the small drive in boots. Then adouna, drive inside the big building. Central boots have a 3m heights destruction, higher vans pass on thé left. We got no control of our van, nor veg control. Argentine and Chilean cars use temporary export papers. If you are driving a foreing car you have to ask you TIP. Ik asked 8 months and got it without problems. We were here monday at the end of Vacation, so still some cueing. Easy going, but still a little more than 1 your because argentine cars going home. At Punta the Vacas 20k further down, the white paper you got at the tunnel should have 3 stamps and is collected by la gendarmeria.

Report Check-In

Also fruit and veggie control! They took all our fruits from chile!

Report Check-In

We received a "ticket" after going through the tunnel and told to go ahead 15km. We kept left as suggested below but the little white buildings were not open so we proceeded to the Aduana building. NOTE: height restriction of 3.05m so if your rig is too tall, we'd suggest parking outside first and walking in. There is an immigration booth then the Aduana booth. It was a Thursday late morning and whole process took 17 minutes.

Report Check-In

We received our "ticket" after tunnel and this place is in 15km. Keep left as directed. Little white building

Report Check-In

We received our "ticket" after the tunnel and went left as directed when we got here. No one at little white buildings so we drove to Asians building. Drove right in and there's an immigration booth and then you drive up to Aduana booth.

Report Check-In

We received our "ticket" after the tunnel. Went to the left, no one in little white buildings so drive right into aduana building. There is an immigration booth first then the Aduana.

Report Check-In

First outside through the little white houses to get your passport stamped, then to Aduana in the large building with all the buses. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and there was only very little traffic. All in all it took us around an hour.

Report Check-In

Going from Chile to Argentina we first had to go to the booths on the right where they stamp your passports, then you loop back and get in line to the left of the buses as mentioned. Friday early afternoon took us 2-2.5hrs. They knew to give me a TIP, took my Chilean one, passport, and vehicle registration and came back in 5 minutes with an Argentina TIP. Did not ask for insurance and the fruit/veggies check was super lax.

Report Check-In

Chile to ArgentinaDont get in line behind the buses, go to the left. Easy crossing but confusing to us at first because Chile and Argentina officials are one and the same. And the crossing is many miles after the actual border. If you didnt do the tunnel and ride the awesome dirt switchbacks instead, they will ask you to see a guy to inspect your bike because youll have missed that at the tunnel.

Dont forget to ask for your Argentinian tip because they had forgotten to give us one until we asked.

Report Check-In

Strict checkpoint. No fruits and vegetables. Checked refrigerator and back door of motorhome. Asked about our portable washing machine.

Report Check-In

You can't get an Argentina TIP (we have US plates) at the drive-thru Aduana booth. We had to go to a special office. The lady at the Chilean Aduana booth also took our Chilean TIP and then lost it, causing even more confusion as everyone was then convinced that we never had one to begin with. On the plus side, all this confusion meant we weren't searched...

Report Check-In

No problems crossing the border with our Chilean car. Crossed on a Saturday around noon, it was very quiet. Friendly staff. They checked for fruits, veggies and nuts.

Report Check-In

Easy crossing - 45 mins, most of which was drive-through queueing. However, WARNING - do not leave without getting a paper Temporal (TVIP for your vehicle). They were quite specific about finding my licence plate number on my bike's Title, so I assumed the process was computerised (migration and customs seem to be in the same booth). It's not, and I'm now wasting time at Aduanas in Mendoza getting a Temporal. The staff were as bemused as I am...

Report Check-In

if possible avoid this pass during the weekend, we spent 3.5 hours on the line, on the Chile side was a similar line...
once at the window, the process was quite fast and easy in 5 steps.

Report Check-In

We crossed this border on a Sunday late afternoon and waited in lineups for 4 hours because there were many Argentinians returning from weekend shopping sprees on Santiago. Most cars were inspected, including ours. We recommend crossing this border either early in the day or on a weekday to avoid the wait.

Report Check-In

Easy, 20 min. Was waiting for the pass to open at 6am, they said it would open at 8am, but at 7 we went. Snow chains mandetory. No snow when I went . Friendly people. Hello Argentina . Oh, they gave me a return document so it's a breeze coming back over.

Report Check-In

We were in 20 minutes through the whole process. We got 8 months for the car without a problem.

Report Check-In

No ATM or anywhere to buy vehicle insurance. They told us to buy insurance when we get to Mendoza

Report Check-In

This is your one stop for all border formalities to cross from Chile into Argentina. You do NOT need to stop here if you are headed westbound -- there is a similar facility on the other side of the pass/tunnel for westbound traffic (Argentina into Chile). Also, this is a drive-thru checkpoint so you get to stay with your vehicle throughout the process.

Report Check-In

Border and pass was open. Has bathrooms, cafe shops and money exchanges. Cold. No fruit or veg and make sure eggs are hard-boiled.

Report Check-In

Just after the miradora for Aconcongua take a left, pass the buses and enter on the left side and drive through a series of booths for migracion and aduanas
