Absolutely great place to stay. Very well maintained with good ablutions, communal kitchen and fireplaces. Very quiet and right at the Zambezi River. It’s well worth the money. We would have loved to stay longer, but unfortunately we’re running out of time. Highly recommended camp spot!

Hi,
We are the owners of Kubu Zambezi Campsite and are busy upgrading everything. The campground was closed for a few years through COVID but is now up and running. We have just laid all new water pipes throughout the site and have installed clean potable water. The shower and toilet block in the campsite have been upgraded with amazing water pressure. There is complimentary firewood and wifi may work as we have just setup Starlink so fingers crossed. The swimming pool has been re-plumbed and painted and perfect for respite from the heat. We will commence upgrading the cabins in the very near future. The sign will be back on the main road in the next few days but there are signs up along the road into the site.

We had stayed here 2 years ago and wanted to return. All signposts have been removed, but we reached the Kubu Zambezi camp following the signs to [questionmark?] camp / Zambezi Palm Camp and then kept right towards the coordinates.
We met the managers who are from New Zealand and the crew, they are doing some refurbishing of the chalets and working hard to make it nicer.
So it is open, at least for camping (15 US $ ppn), using one of the chalets for the (open air) bathroom, as they were just fixing the ablutions on the campsite side.
It is such an amazing place, so even "half-open", it is worth a stay. We had a hippo visiting from the bush next to us at dusk and some more around the lagoon.

We tried to make a booking on the phone number +260977360469 and received a whatsapp back as follows:

"Hi I can recommend ? Mark campsite next to kubu as we have closed"

This campsite is permanently closed.

This place is very much open and it's a very pleasant place to stay. Don't take too much notice of recent negative comments.

Report Check-In

Waste of time. Not recommended. Falling apart. No maintenance done. Looks as if the place is closed. Left and found another place

Report Check-In

We booked a campsite for the night but on arrival we decided to move on.

a little bit run down after 2 very difficult Corona years but still a wonderfull and quite place to stay on the shore of the Zambezi river.

Report Check-In

We really enjoyed this quiet place as there was no other guests. Shady and grassy place under big trees. There is a big boma with two wooden chairs and benches, a kitchen area and a braai stand. Kabby, the catetaker is really attentive and cleaned everything when we arrived. Campsite is 15 US$ or 250 ZMK pppn. The cabins need maintenance - so they don't rent them out.

Report Check-In

Very nice and peaceful spot to the river and fully in the nature, green and shady even in dry season. Good facilities. Still 15USppn.

We found this camp by chance, it is not really signposted from the main road (where there is a sign to Zambezi Palm Camp), and it is beautiful. Friendly managers, great hot outdoor showers, they made fire for us by the river at night, and since we were alone, we switched off all the lights at night for better stargazing. There were hippos grunting nearby. Worth the price 15 US $ ppn, but you can also pay in Kwacha.

Well maintained shady location on the bank of the Zambezi. We'll signposted from the main road. Great hosts in an altogether welcoming and peaceful location.

Very nice campsite with good view over the Zambezi River. Clean ablutions and nice outdoor shower(hot). There are picnick tables, fire places and a braai area. Nice to have a shelter for the sun when it is to hot. We saw giraffe's on the Zim site. The manager is very friendly and welcoming. We can highly recommend this place!

Nice place shady place USD 15 pppn. We were the only guests. Very friendly receptionist. Due to electricity shortages we had no power, it came on in the middle of the night and was off again at 6 am. Saw Crocodiles in the river and heard the lions on the opposite side in Zimbabwe. Hot showers, and working ablutions.

Report Check-In

Most wonderful camping spot. Views are amazing, facilities are really nice and shower is HOT! Definitely in our top 3 campsites in Africa. Camping 15USD pppn, 40 USD for a twin cabin. Saw Elephants, buffalos and hippos across the river while hearing lions and hyena at night. Knowledgeable and friendly owner.

Much better than the waterfront lodge which we found extremely crowded.

This is such a beautiful, small and perfectly simple camp with a lot of grass and plenty of covered space, making it ideal for the rainy season. We really enjoyed our stay here.
