A few possibilities to camp close to highway 16, some with fireplace. Quiet, only a little noise from the street. Don't take the dirt road west (left) to go further away, even if maps.me says ist is a street! It's a bad dirt road, even for 4wd! Badly washed out from rain and snow and there is NO exit to the highway!!! If you drive it you have to go all the way back.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
OK place to stay for the night. A little muddy still but definitely accessible. There is quite a bit of trash now so try leave it cleaner than you found it so hopefully it stays a nice place to stop.
Report Check-InI think some clarification is needed for this place. When you pull onto the dirt road, if you turn right, it is just a gravel road leading to a waste management site: there are no pull-offs or fire-rings but maybe it's a bit quieter. If you turn left, just a short way down on the right there are a bunch of fire rings and spots for vans or tents, and even a port-a-potty. Bring your ear plugs, the highway noise is pretty loud. But worth it for it's proximity to Jasper - I stayed 2 nights.
Report Check-InVery nice place with view on the mountain. Just outside the national park there's a crossroad, turn left and then left again and you're there! Enough place to park your camper. Noise from the highway but we slept well anyway. Firepits available and a chemical toilet. Security guy watching the machinery at night but he didn't bother us.
The Children of the Earth liked this place!
If you looking for a good free spot outside of the National park this is one of the best places so far.
Pretty clean and enough spots for more then 15 vehicle’s.
Stayed here three nights. Big noise from the highway and one night some guys had a party there, but it was ok. Locals said in summer this place is always full.
amazing stop! amazing view! so peaceful except for highway noise but waking up to those mountains in the sunrise was worth it!
Report Check-InWe went there and turned right, drove a bit and parked on the side of the gravel road. There was some gas pipeline construction going on so after a few hours the police knocked on the window and asked us what we're doing here. After explaining they let us stay for the night.
In conclusion: very muddy road, don't park there when you see white pickup trucks
Nice little woody area. You can still hear the highway tho. Fire pits available.
Report Check-InWe took the right last year, this year the left. The mud has dried up and we were lucky to have the space all to ourselves on a Saturday night. Watch out for glass and other sharp things that get thrown into the fire pits.
Report Check-InOkay to stop for a night. We took a right and stopped at a little intersection out of the way. We had two vehicles and enough space to hang out in the evening.
The spots when taking a left are closer to the road and people were playing with their dirt bikes late in the evening.
Just west off highway 16 (right opposite to Jasper Gates Resort & RV turnoff). After turn off there is a crossroads. We went left and after about 100 meters there's plenty of places to park, set a tent on the right. Even some fire pits. The road further down seemed rough but some AWDs went in. A bit more complicated for large rigs but doable if the largest spots are free.
