Namibia
Good alternative to stay close to, but not in Windhoek, braai stands, good ablutions, free wifi, vehicle storage available, pool, 160N$/pppnight.
Run by Germans and they also offer long-term parking for private vehicles.
Excellent German style restaurant onsite for dinner, open from 4pm.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The camp site was nice enough, with a friendly dog roaming around. Too many lights and an electrical humming noise all night didn't help. The showers seem to run off a donkey boiler which, with no signage about it, seems you have to get going. But they do have decent cold beer on tap!
Report Check-InVery nice place. Everything is clean and it’s quiet. You can do horse ridding.
We paid 160$N pp
Very nice location, good restaurant, friendly staff and dogs- we felt safe and contacted a lot of interesting people from the Overland-community in Nambia
Report Check-InChristina und Andreas are very helpful. The airline canceled our flight, Christina helped us to organize a new flight.
If you store your car here, Andreas organice any help you need for your car or/and you can use the workshop by yourself
pleasant campingsite clean sanitaire. good restaurant ...german africaans and english speaking
Report Check-Inbeautiful restaurant! nice food, free wifi, and very nice cold shower which can be heated with a donkey within an hour...
nice spot if you need some rest outside windhoek.
Plenty of shade, large camping spots, clean ablutions. We were the only once there.
Report Check-InShady campsites as described before, everything still the same. We recommend the restaurant FARMERS KITCHEN for dinner or breakfast (NAD110). You can order fresh baked broetchen.
You have to organize your own hot shower in the morning with the donkey.
You can also do a 4x4 drive .
Accommodation in rooms or Mountain Hut available.
Camping at guestfarm or dam:
NAD150 ppn
Il n’y a plus de piscine. Le camping est un peu laissé à l’abandon mais toilettes et douches propres. Le restaurant est excellent.
Report Check-InVery nice quite camp 10 kilometers north of Windhoek. They have Braai, powerpoints, shower and toilet. Places were under tree so you have ample shade. Good alternative if you don’t like to stay in the city.
Report Check-InWorth noting they have some 4x4 trails in the hills behind, including a lake/dam where you can camp. There is a 12km or 26km trail. They are quite steep and I wouldn’t risk my fully loaded Landy with roof tent etc in them just for a bit of fun, but is eas fine my my friends unladen Jerp
Report Check-InSince the write up here was inviting we went there with the original intention to stay for a couple of days. This was a bad choice and a bit of a nightmare. Since the five "developed" campgrounds were taken, we got an undeveloped spot in the dirt (no sand, no gras, just dust) for the regular price. There were a lot of bugs, scrubs and no even place to park the camper. All night long the electric fence made a clicking sound, that kept us awake. Before we checked into the camp site, we had asked to see a room, but the price was outrageous for a dark room with musty smell and dated furniture. We didn't try the restaurant. The pool was empty. The ablusions clean, but dated.
Report Check-InGreat campsite, nice spacious camping spots with Braai, power, table, hammock. We picked the first campsite spot on your left closest to ablutions which was nice and shady underneath trees. Beautiful setting next to rocky hills. Unfortunately pool was dry. Restaurant was superb for dinner! It opens at 4pm in evenings, and food & drink selection delicious! We sat there for hours while our kids played with all the other kids at the lovely grassed play area by restaurant. Ablutions are great and clean. Security guard 'Jonah' patrolling camp ground st night, he even came and introduced himself, and we made him coffee. Overall lovely place and highly recommended! N150pppn (kids half price).
Report Check-InNot a lot of shade, when we arrived at lunch time, but it gets better in the afternoon. The campsites are indeed a bit run down (part of the table missing...), but very nice place in general, also a good place to meet other long-term travellers at one or another end of their trip. Good water supply even in dry season, and the restaurant and bar "Farmer's kitchen" is always open (and busy), but far away from the campsite, so it is quiet at night. Price is now 150 ppn. Wifi works in the area of the restaurant. Also, there is a well-equipped mechanical workshop that can be used for some DIY maintenance (25 Euro/day).
Report Check-InHands off the entrance gate to the campground! You might get an electric shock. Better you ask the staff to open it.
Camping facilities are a bit of an old school but good.
The food and the cold beer is superb.
Best place to be around Windhoek
Restaurant with original German kitchen and life Bayern3 News in the radio. Restaurant is closed on Monday's. Nice people. 150$/n
Perfect place for long term car storage. Pick-up service from the airport. Camp site a bit run down, but facilities are good and people are friendly. Nice walking trail up the mountain (see photo, 226 meters elevation) and 4x4 trail to a dam. Close to Windhoek, Superspar has everything!
Report Check-InAndreas has reacted quickly to the mentioned break in, he has installed a brand new electric fence around the site and security lighting.
For us this is still the best spot around Windhoek - you have grass, shade, water, power, space, peace and quiet, walking trail, restaurant, storage etc etc.
The only downside is that it's up to the campers to tend the donkey, and many don't bother but still use the hot water up.
Really great restaurant with excellent prices for good food, but we were a bit disappointed with the campsite! In Windhoek we stayed at the Urban Camp before and because of all the good reviews we expected more from this campsite. Braii stands and seating possibilities are not well maintained and a bit run down. Pool hasn't seen water for some years now...
The area itself and the surrounding mountains seem very nice. In the end we didn't stay.
In the night from 26 th to 27 th April some people tried to break in an Landcruiser on the Camping area. The security came but they did not get the people. Place looks like it is not the safest
Report Check-Innew price for camping is now 140 pppn
relax campsite
Still 130 pp. large campsites and a lot of animals around ( zebramangust, bonobos, birds, horses).
you need to fire the oven for hot water.
long/short storage for cars available and a nice garage you can use.
everyone is friendly and helpfull. Restaurant is very good and on weekends busy. The camp side is on the way to run down a bit. Hope this will change because it is really lovely here. Also not far from industrial area North so you can get everything there.
very secure place! We staid here for 2 weeks.
Still 130pppn. No pets allowed as they have 3 pet cats. Good ablutions. Dark and quiet at night. Large sites with various facilities, all with a braai. Wood is 30N for enough for a fire for 3 hours. They also do long term car storage for €1 per day.
Report Check-In130$ pppn over 12 yo
65$ pppn 2-12 yo
Nice place with very friendly owners, but like everywhere in Namibia, prices for family is way to expensive compare to SA...
Grassy terrain with trees next to lodge. Meeting place for overlanders. Vehicles can be stored here. Quiet place outside Windhoek.
NAD 220 (2 adults, camper).
Very relaxed atmosphere and great management. Even when all pitches are taken they will squeeze you in somewhere. We paid N$110 pp. Pets are not allowed but we could take our (well behaved) dog and keep it away from the restaurant. Great food! You can order bread rolls for the next morning. Lots of birds here. Wonderful hike trail up the hill. NOTE: There is a dam up the mountains with a super duper kayak-worthy lake!!! A game drive up there is totally worth it, you won't believe your eyes...
Report Check-InGood spot outside Windhoek. Ablution is good, each place has a shelter and free Wi-Fi at the bar. Run by Germans and they also offer long term parking for private vehicles. 220 NAD per night for 2 persons and a car incl. Power
Report Check-InGood alternative to stay close to but not in Windhoek, braai stands, good ablutions, free wifi, vehicle storage available, pool, 200N$/night (13,90€) for two people
