Description

Just off the Alaska Highway 41 miles west of Whitehorse. Take the road to Kusawa Lake for 3 km until you come to a viewpoint at the bottom of the hill. Turn left and there you are. River view with swans. If you're bigger/with trailer you could easily just stop here in the gravel pull in loads of room! Decent cell service. This is a popular take out spot for local paddlers of the very popular day trip. Please do not park /camp in the area that is closest to the river - it is the takeout for paddlers. There is a ramp/trail that goes down to the river. Please park/camp at the other end of the parking spot(closer to the highway)

Got here at midnight and it was peaceful, can’t wait to see it in the morning. Parked on top by the fire pit.

Report Check-In

The spot with the fire pit (to the left straight after you cross the bridge) is so nice, surrounded by the river on three sides. We stayed a couple days. There are plenty of spots that aren't in front of the launch zone. Good service. Great location!

Report Check-In

There were several people here when we arrived and a few cars drove by but it was very quiet after dark.

Report Check-In

we crossed over the river and pulled in passed the toilets and the boat ramp. if awards were given for the best kept pit toilets, this one must surely be the best, and by far the most immaculate we have used in the last four months.

If you can going to camp at this location please be aware that this a Busy take out for paddlers on the Takhini River. This is one of the most popular day trips in the Yukon. PLEASE do not park/camp in the spot that is right next to the river - there is a ramp/short trail that comes up from the river- it is very obvious. This is the take out for river trips. Especially busy on weekends in May/June. Often with large groups. Parking in front of this spot makes taking out for paddling groups a challenge. If you do camp here please park on the other end of the parking lot (closer to the highway) . Full disclosure I run a paddle school that uses this river lots in the summer and wanting to educate users of Ioverlander of the use of this parking site and how best to avoid conflict with local users as there are no signs. Please keep a clean spot, dont cut green trees.

Second time staying heading to Alaska and the views never get old. I did pick up the trash around where I parked from previous people, but it's still work it. Very quiet, Decent Cell service, plenty of room.

Stayed a night here! The pull in spot with a firepit was already taken so we parked along the side of the road, near the porta potty.

Surprisingly really clean toilet! Its well managed by the canoe & kayak club. No cell service

as described peaceful spot with splendid river to rest your head

Very nice place along the river! There are 3 or 4 spots along the river. We were here with our 26ft skoolie. Easy and next to the Alaska Highway! Lot of animals in this area including bear.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place in between rivers. Close enough to the road if you’re looking for a quick stop for the night, but far enough for any kind of noise. It would even be great for several days.

Pretty riverside location. Porty potty on site. Adequate AT&T service for low bandwidth applications. Good for an overnight.

I’d rate this my best Boondocking spot in the year and a half I’ve had my van. The road has gotten a little washboard in spots but I just slow down and enjoyed the ride. I didn’t park where the others have. I drove just a little further and on the left-hand side of the road is a put in for kayakers. The local kayak club even has a porta potty here. My van is literally parked 5 feet from the river. Awesome view with snow still on the mountain in the distance. If you’re traveling with another vehicle it would be easy to continue down the road to the provincial park with one vehicle and kayaks. Easy cruise in the kayaks back to this camping spot. I’m in heaven!

No swans, but great camp spot. Couple little spits of land you can back a little camper out on or a normal vehicle/tent. Fairly private, less than a vehicle every other hour I'd say. Surprisingly good cell service! There is a little fire pit at the site I'm at.

Mosquitoes were bonkers when I first arrived, maybe 3 PM, but seemed to have been less active since, not sure this would be a good spot unless you were going to stay in your camper/tent because of them.

Wonderful mtn views. Smooth dirt road 1.5 miles off hwy about 40 miles north of Whitehorse. No signs prohibiting overnight. Large historical sign.

It is peaceful & gorgeous views. Two pull outs about 1.5 miles off AK hwy. Swans moved away as we parked. Nice informative historical panel.

Love it! Turn left just before the blue sign with the camera. This little diversion is rutted somewhat, be careful if you’re low clearance. Absolutely beautiful, quiet, and calm spot.

Lovely place. Beavers playing, graylings swimming, swans trumpeting. First confused this place with the tracks to the boat ramp before the bridge. It’s after the bridge. Good Telus coverage.
