Beside road at pass, very very little traffic, phantastic view to Chopicalqui, Huandoy, Pisco, Huascaran and down in the Valley to the lagunas. From 7.00pm no traffic.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Great views, but a bit more traffic than the other posters. Intermittent traffic until 1:30 am and then starting again around 4:30 am. Headlights of vehicles coming from the east will be pointed directly at you. Still glad I stayed here, but use your curtains/ear plugs.
Report Check-InAmazing little spot right at the top
of the hairpin road! Only room for a small car in the lay-by or a tent and bike can be part tucked into the rocks at the trail at the side of the road. There is a serious drop off and very exposed to the elements, so not for the faint hearted. Incredible views, very little traffic, we were rewarded with a morning view of the snow caps we will never forget.
I camped up the top here for 24 hours waiting for the clouds to lift from the Cordillera. There’s enough room for a small tent about 20m from the road along the hiking track. Nobody came by. There was about a car per hour from 5am til 10pm.
