Description

Brand new hostel, opened in 2017. You can camp in your vehicle in Kanat's (the owner's) gated yard. He lives just next to his hostel, goes on 4x4 expeditions, is very nice and speaks English and German.
A bed in the hostel costs 2000 Tenge per person and night. It's half the price if you stay in your vehicle and use the hotel's facilities. Wifi is good, location as well. Kanat's 9 years old son rents out bicycles, which is a good way to explore the city.
Your map may say something different, but the place is in the end of a dead end street. Access only from the north (Karataya Turysova).

Nice people, clean hostel. Just a parking in the backyard of the hostel. 5000 tenge is not cheap in my opinion but safe place.

we had the pleasure to stay at this place for almost a week. The facilities in the Hostel are always clean and the employees are very friendly and helpful. Kanat, the Owener of the Hostel and the nomad4x4 travel club is a real genrleman, he speaks English and German fluently. he was able to find our vehicle registration card that went lost at the border and got it sent zo his Hostel via his network in the country. We are beyond thankful about his help. he knows very much about the country and shared his knowledge with us. It's in the center of the city and wirhin walking distance to the main attractions.

We where disappointed to start with because the owner was not there. The next morning Kanat showed up and was very helpful. Very enthusiastic and eager.

After two years we came again to the Hostel Nomad 4x4. It's the best place for overlanders we know in Nur-Sultan (Astana). Good and clean showers. Kanat, the owner, speaks english and german. He is also travelling a lot and can give you infomation about the roads in Kasachstan and other countries.

Report Check-In

Perfect place for Overlanders to stay central in the city. Even with Washmachine for clothes. Friendly, clean and easy. If you come with your Dog you wont sleep a lot because neighboors dogs will bark all the time.

Report Check-In

We stayed 2 nights in our van in the yard. Quiet place in walking distance to everything.
During our stay there was a football team staying at the Hostel and when they left toilets, showers or kitchen, it was not at all clean. The Lady tried to do her best, but it didn’t help much.
Like everywhere: cleanliness depends also on guests and as this Hostel is very big and has only 3 toilets and 2 showers, cleanliness can always be a problem.
We liked the location and the price, but not our stay.

Report Check-In

We wouldn't recommend this place if you travel with a dog. Neighbor threatened us to shoot the dogs if he sees us one more time with them on the street. Owner of the hotel didn't try to deascalate the situation. Even though there is space enough, the owner also doesn't want to the dogs in the garden. Owner and stuff is actually friendly. Hostel is clean and good for backpackers and other overlanders.

Report Check-In

Good location, very friendly owner - speaks English, German and Russian.
The price is still 1000 p.p.p.n. in the car, plus 500 for the car p.n. Fast WiFi. Stayed for over a week.
No place for yourself. There is always something going on. Some staff members are sometimes a bit cold to you.
Overall we had great time!

Small roads with low branches to reach hostel at end of laneway, 2 bigrigs will fit and room for a few cars inside. We stayed in our MH and used the facilities for 2000t plus 300t for laundry. The owner wasnt around and the admin lady is friendly but little english understood.

Report Check-In

The owner wasn’t there the three nights we spend here, and that was not a good thing. The hostel itself was quite dirty, tv was on max volume until past midnight with people ‘working’ at the hostel sleeping in front of it. We stayed in our rooftoptent because of all the noise in the hostel - and we were the only ones sleeping in our car; the gated yard was filled with parked cars from guests. So no room to sit or move around. I’d only recommend it if your budget is really tight. Location is excellent, payed 1000 per person and 500 for parking.

Can not confirm all this positive reviews. We did not meet any staff who speaks english or was friendly. We had a doubleroom which was ok. Lots of people running around who seems to be employees of the hostel (???) and it was loud till late after midnight and at 6 am again. No breakfast available.

We stayed in a room because the weather was really bad. Rooms are very clean and staff is really nice. The owner speaks good german and english.
The location is perfect to discover some main sites. Walkable.

Nice place close the center of Astana. Enough space for 3-4 motorhomes.

Just the right place to stop in Astana. I confirm the descriptions before. Arriving from South, take next street, turn around the quarter and take the street from North.

THE overlander place to stay in Astana. Everything is as described and Kanat, the owner, is super friendly and very helpful! We stayed there a few days, sleeping in our van and enjoying the calm and the comfort of the amenities. We couldn’t recommend this place enough :)

Super nice owner, hot showers, good kitchen, great location!

Report Check-In

The best place to stay in Astana for overlanders. Kanat (the very friendly owner) helps you in any affair. He also offers city sightseeing tours at day or night time. Near the hostel there are many embassies and Bayterek Tower is within walking distance. Just down the road there are several restaurants and a supermarket. Having all things near it's still a calm and relaxing place.
