We loved this place. The Italian owners are some of the friendliest, most caring people we have met on our travels so far. If you want to stay somewhere that feels like home then this is the place. They also include a simple breakfast in the price of the camping which is a lovely touch

Report Check-In

This place is closed till 23rd of January 2024. The owners are busy with renovating the restaurant.

Report Check-In

At the moment it's 18.000 k pppn.
Highly recommended! Very good vibe, owners and staff have a lot of fun and they do a really good job. Food is really wonderful. They have a nice spot to pitch your tent, and 2 spots for vehicles. 2 toilets (shared with restaurant guests) and 1 shower, but was fine.

Report Check-In

Beautiful little oasis on the hillside. 2 spots for overland vehicles that are flat (ish) and one suitable for large vehicles.
Cool hikes available from here up to the mountain.
Incredible Italian food and drinks available, yes they’re expensive for Malawi but they have to import a lot and it’s very high quality.
They provide free breakfast (toast and coffee) which is a lovely touch.
15k MK - worth it.

Report Check-In

All as described before. Just to add, one of the two places is also fine for a bigger Motorhomes we are 8 m long, 3,25 m high. No problem for the lower Campside.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite. There are now 2 sites for rtt. Friendly owners. Still 15.000 k incl simple breakfast

Report Check-In

haven't camped here, but the sites don't look very big or level. Nice forest around though.
The food however is incredible! It's not cheap, but worth it. I'm pretty fussy when it comes to proper Italian but my goodness the pizzas are delicious and we had the gnocchi and dessert too which was also very good. Highly recommend eating here for a treat! Prices are around 12000-20000 for a main, most sitting around 15k.

Report Check-In

All as described before. Price now MWK 15‘000 pppn.

Report Check-In

Great ice cream. Very friendly owner. Didn’t stay but this place not big rig friendly. Pizzas served from noon onwards, we arrived too early for it

Airtel slow at 1-2 bar LTE

Report Check-In

As described, an institution and must visit. great food, super inviting host.
the loop up the plateau you'd have to decide if the ok views are worth the long grueling drive on the bad roads.

Report Check-In

really excellent pizza
and also coffee (you can buy it)

Report Check-In

Excellent but expensive food. Campsite is very small. A RTT doesn’t fit properly. WiFi is for sale (expensive). Ablutions need maintenance. Owners are very friendly and breakfast is included.

Dogs sometimes bark at night. If you love Italian food a must visit

Report Check-In

1 campsite for rooftop tents, but it’s a nice one. Dogs bark all night unfortunately. We had 2 days of full rain… so we didn’t hike.
Food is good. Pizza is excellent, pastas are ok. The dark chocolate ice cream is amazing.
Skyband WiFi for sale (expensive)
Owners really nice.

Report Check-In

As already mentioned, perfect place, lovely food, really nice people. We camped with our roof top tent, they have one spot easily suitable for rtt's.

Report Check-In

We stayed for 4 nights. Had a wonderful time at Silvia & Marks place. Best Italian food you could imagine. Genuine Pizza and Pasta! Breakfast is also awesome. Try their French toast. They even let us stay in one of the larger rooms for the price of the smallest because one of our crew was sick. The campsite is lovely as well but not for big rigs. 4x4 with a rooftop tent might fit though. Hike or drive to the Zomba Plateau and enjoy the surrounding views.

Report Check-In

A very nice place. We can confirm what is said already. An excellent restaurant with amazing nice pizzas and more. Very nice people too.

Report Check-In

nice shady campsite with showers, electricity, etc. highlight was definitely the amazing Italian restaurant with the best pizzas we've had on our trip by a long way and incredible ice cream and sorbets. run by a very welcoming couple.

Report Check-In

The casa rossa has a wonderful terrace with delicious italian food. Silvia and Marco are very nice and helpful. The campsite is nice, toilets and showers clean. Camping USD 10 pp, meals between 800 to 1500 MK.
The food was wonderful, the ice cream even better! We liked it here!

Report Check-In

Lovely very friendly owners, the spot is small but perfect for one night. Ablutions - shower is a bit grubby but toilet and sink are clean. Hot water available from donkey. We paid 10usd pppn and it was nice to be given toasts and coffee in the morning, included. For some this might not be bfast but this is the only campsite that actually offered something included. We had a drink at the restaurant, ice cream is delicious but menu is very very expensive.

Report Check-In

Very nice restaurant, quite pricey but still worth having a good lunch or diner. We had different types of pasta, we liked the classical most. Home made ice creams are to die for !! Restaurant setting is really nice.

Report Check-In

Food is so expensive and not even good. Maybe there has been a change of ownership or kitchen staff. Would never eat again.

Report Check-In

Small camping area for one rig. Our 7 metre truck barely fit. price is now 7,500 MK pp which includes a very modest continental breakfast. wifi is available by buying a Skyband package. Beautiful gardens and quiet little place but a little expensive.

Report Check-In

Rooms 50000 MKW. Has 4 Rooms.

Off main road to the plateau
Nice view and garden.

Report Check-In

We even had to pay to use the wifi.

Report Check-In

I think this place has changed hands!!Over priced. We paid 10$ per person and were told breakfast was included which turned out to be cheap bread and margarine with a bit of jam. The owners felt this was an acceptable breakfast. A nice garden and clean ablutions but that was all.

Report Check-In

Very nice camping. Shade under the trees. Ablutions clean with hot showers. Breakfast included which include coffee and toast. Restaurant has hreat food but prices expensive.

Report Check-In

Casa Rossa is a wonderful place, lovely owners. Excellent italian food and amazing espresso! Campsite 5$pppn including breakfast, also one spot for a car with rooftent, same price. Recommend

Report Check-In

Beautiful and peaceful place with very friendly owners. Only 1 place for overland cars and no place at all for trucks but the 1 place has power outlet. Restaurant is very good. $5 pppn camping including very small breakfast. Ablutions really need an upgrade (doors don't lock and things are falling apart) but are reasonably clean. Also used by staff. Owners can give you excellent info about the plateau. Three very friendly dogs but 2 are very big so be aware that they might knock things over.

Report Check-In

Lovely level and shaded camping spot. $5 per person including free tea/coffee, toast and jam, juice at breakfast. Friendly and helpful owners - provide maps and hiking tips. The Italian food is excellent too at their restaurant. Ablutions are simple but clean and warm showers.
