A free camping spot on the banks of the kicking horse river. Fire pits are here but there was a fire ban on when we were here
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Pretty views of the river and nearby mountains. This is a food plain so be careful if it rains here or upstream. I saw the river rise over 12 inches in one evening. Fire ban just went into effect July 11. Convenient for an overnight stay. There are signs that mention a rafting company allows free camping. Asked the for warden when he posted the fire ban signs and he said that may apply to the higher ground area not down by the the river is public land and open to camping. There are some soft spots so be careful where you drive. Useable cell service and data but not great. Some noise from the highway and train tracks across the river. Enjoy and leave no trace.
Report Check-InVraiment un beau spot just a coter de la rivière petit troue de bouette a l’entre met se passe super bien
Report Check-Infantastic sites with rock pits, sunrise and set views were some of the best I've seen in bc.
Report Check-InOne of the access after the sign "End of public road" is REALLY NARROW and the branches would scratch your vehicule. Make sure to enter the site before that if you have a large rig.
Had a really quiet night by the river. The train was honestly not that bad, was expecting worse…
Wonderful place close to Yoho National Park. Some spots are very close to the river with fireplace. The view is beautiful! The only issue is the noise of trains, around each hour one is passing and horning (even the night).
Report Check-Inbeautiful spot by the river. At the bridge crossing the river there is spots but they were full on a Sunday night so we went across. Drive about a mile or so down the river past the rafting company property and it'll be a turn off on the right. A handful of people were at this spot as well to include a full size RV which idk how they got it in. But plenty of private spots to spread out and if you have 4X4 you can drive onto the sand bars to camp.
Report Check-InBit further pass the bridge where i found it too busy. I was alone right next to the river. Campfire here too. Space for several campers. Not sure if RV would fit here. Road was bit bumpy. Amazing place to spend night
Report Check-Ingreat spot! 45 mins from lake Louise and was quiet since the highway to Golden is currently closed. Noone else was around too.
Report Check-InWe arrived at night and took the path that leads into the wood. There was an other one going on the shore of the river, we saw it in the morning. Both spots are very nice and quiet. Really enjoyed it!
Report Check-Innice multiple open sites on the river, plenty of room to spread out from others. easy access with even small car
Report Check-InNice open spot by the river, a few fire pits. Water was high so some spots inaccessible but still lots of space. Close to the highway so can just about hear the road.
Report Check-InNice spot to setup for a night, River is cool to walk around and lots of space. We setup on the river, for quite a thunder and lighting show but it was awesome
Report Check-Inon the water, beautiful view. outhouse near by. neat abandoned bus. roads muddy but there are a couple of ways in.
Report Check-InWent to the area with the burnt camper but there were huge puddles at the entrance and it looked really muddy (it’s been raining all day). So parked with a few others at the clearing on the side of the road a few hundred feet before this spot.
Report Check-InLevel ground, fire pits beside the river. Other campers on both sides of the bridge. Definitely a favourite for us. Thanks everyone.
Report Check-InBeautiful and quiet. There's a burned out trailer and abandoned bus here to help locate this spot. Medium field next to logging road (can fit 3-4 groups snugly) and 2 sites right next to the river by the bus.
There is a very old pit toilet building here without a door but works fine in an emergency
Report Check-InLot of trash around but place is good for a night or two! Be careful with the squirrel holes ;-)
The dirt road is really muddy and bumpy there at the moment. Not recommended for a low clearance vehicle. 4x4 not needed
Good spot by the river. Lots of space, leveled ground. Could get muddy. Good for cars/vans or tents.
Report Check-InAwesome spot on the river. Slightly muddy dirt road down to the river bank but we had no issues in a RWD old Chevy van. You’d want decent clearance in one spot, but when dry likely wouldn’t be an issue. It was a Saturday night when we were there and there were about 4 or 5 other campers set up. Still lots of room between us and them.
Report Check-InWe’ve camped here twice now. A great free spot by the river. 👍🏻 The first time we were on a moto with a hammock and the second time we pulled our 30ft toy hauler down and parked in the entrance of the second road. There is a burnt trailer here, but we parked away from it to avoid looking at it. It worked great for a night. Cell phone service.
Report Check-InNous n'avons pas pu nous rendre sur le bord de l'eau avec notre van à cause de la route trop boueuse mais nous avons dormi dans la forêt et c'était parfait! Calme et très belle vue
