Description

South African side of border with Namibia. Entering SA by bike didn't even have to fill in a form. Immigration was done in 2 minutes but then had to visit the police too for some kind of double registration which confused me.

Easy border, stamped out, stamped in, no one asks anything. We had to use this border, because the one in Sendingsdrif is not possible with a dog.

Report Check-In

Easiest border so far in Africa. I checked out of Namibia in about 10 minutes, had to fill out a departure form and have customs stamp my vehicle permit. Then SA side they asked how many days and stamped the passport then no customs on a Saturday so the police wrote down my passport and vehicle info.

Report Check-In

Customs opens only during working days.

But take care, they do not stamp CDP despite being there. Raphael, the officer explained us that they are not a comercial border and do not have stamp (I saw it on the table and asked him… but he said was and old one!)

In our case we needed to stamp because we were leaving the country by ship.

If they are not there (weekends), sometimes the police can stamp or do a TIP but he said he didn’t rely on that being official and do not offer any warranty at the end… so, be careful!

We had in/out in Botswana and nothing in Namibia
in the CDP.

If we had just an entry in Botswana could be possible to stamp the exit in SA when we leave it because it is the same “SACU”

Raphael called to Vioolsdrif where we had to drive.

Also told us that there is no agriculture check point here, so thats the reason there is no food or wood inspection at the moment.

Very friendly.

Report Check-In

Easiest border crossing in Africa. 10 min and we were out, just like that guy said previously. Going to SA, nobody checked our rig for food (we hidded our meat and eggs anyway). We didnt see any custom, just immigration, so nobody stamped our CDP. Very friendly people on both side.

Report Check-In

Very easy from Namibia to SA: 10 min. on each side and friendly staff.

Report Check-In

Crossing from RSA to NAM
Border points on both sides are advertised to be open Mon-Sun 8am to 10pm
We crossed on a Saturday, which was also a public holiday … no problem, very quiet, very easy … save for the waiting time for the RFA-lady to turn up to collect the road tax

Report Check-In

Easy border post in both sides. Police & immigration. in Namibian side you have Esther buy or bring back your road tax. All paperwork in 15 minutes.

Report Check-In

Really nice quiet border, but, it was Saturday so we asked at the Namibia site if custums were open on both side of the border. They confirmed, but after our pasports were stamped in SA we found custums closed. The police was willing to help us with the papers for the car, but they didn’t know what they were doing. Better not try it during weekends.

Report Check-In

Nice and quiet border, really easy. The police just want to check the top case of my motorbike

Report Check-In

Customs is closed at the weekend. We were told to return on Monday or visit Vioolsdrif to get TIP. Customs is open from Monday to Friday and opens 0800 (don't know when it closes).

Report Check-In

RSA to NAM - easy friendly handling, no customs check and took maybe 30 minutes all in all.

very friendly people, small border. They didn't know how to handle the CDP but we figured it out together. Didn't check the vehicle.
