Something not right?

Description

Guesthouse very basic, runned by a Kirgiz familiy. There is a very very hot clean but basic hotspring, great to take a bath. We payed 30 som each to sleep inside on our own matras and sleepingbag. Lovely family with a lot of kids who want to play with you! Its two hours from the M41 on a gravel road. This time of the year now problems with flooding.

This place is still open. Nice family. We stopped for some chai. (He was going to give it to us for free but we gave him 10SOM). We didn’t ask about the cost of the rooms but they seemed nice; so did the pools, but we also did not partake.

Had a hot bath in hotel most north, clean and nice, 30 som pp

Road from north from m41 to here is good when dry.

Road to Zorkul needs ground clearance and 4/4 car. Many water crossings, some muddy bits in late July. But easy with 4/4. very scenic.

Road to Shaymak via Chestebe only early morning. After chestebe very deep river crossing. We couldn’t make it in the evening. Chestebe is strange... didn’t feel good there, strange people.

We stayed in the new guesthouse (it’s the two story building across the river from the main road). We enjoyed it. It’s clean, you can get into the hot springs from the same building and as often as you want. There is one western toilet inside. The building is heated (it was about 25 degrees, outside about -10/-20). Food is basic but plenty. Family is nice. Owner speaks English and also organises tours. We paid 20 usd per person for sleeping, 3 meals and use of the hotspring.

We paid $20/pp for a basic floor bed and basic meals in a new building. It's heated from the spring, and we had 3 baths, so reasonable value! People we up late and up early in the morning talking loudly so we didn't get a very good night's sleep. Friendly family.

We also stayed in the new building (the first on the left across the river if coming from Murghab). Had a good experience here. Slept in a private room in beds. They have 2 indoor hot pools and the whole building is heated by central heating. Still outdour pit toilets though. Dinner was 3 courses (soup, 1st, 2nd) with meat and potatoes, but very vegatables. You get some fruit.

It is expensive though, at 25 US dollar per person including dinner and breakfast. But given the location, it is nice to splurge a bit from time to time. The old guesthouse might still be operating and might be cheaper.

Report Check-In

We stayed in what appears to be a new building with hot baths and private rooms for eating and sleeping.
Payed 32 USD pp for 2.5 light meals (rice, bread, yogurt) , a basic room with floor beddings and use of the hot spring.

Also had an incident with some locals, probably kids, going through our Moto luggage and walking off with an item. Owner was less than eager to help resolve this issue which left a bad taste in our mouth after paying so much for very basic accommodation.
