Description

ok backpacker place with camping and access to the beach. Power, water and a self-catering kitchen. Toilet and shower was nice and with hot water. Restaurant and bar. Ten minutes walk to town. MZN 400.
Nice bar and restaurant with free wifi. There is also a swimming pool but not cared for. no shaded areas so if it rains you're stuck far from beach in unclean area.

Latest Check-Ins

Fair campsite next to a large Boabab tree. Nice food at the Bar. Music from town on the Friday night that we were camping. Friendly staff.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 4 nights in out rrt. 400mtz pppn.
beautiful camp with chalets too, had a look at these at they look lovely from the outside, and we met some guest staying in them and they had no complaints.
Rebecca the manager is wonderful, very friendly and helpful, allowed us to use the scanner and printer when doing our Malawi Visa. All the staff were very friendly.
The beach views are amazing. We tried to organiser an excursion. to the islands through Dolhin Dhow which is furth up the beach but after negotiating a price the own became angry and rude and tried to over charge us, so avoid.
But deffinately visit Baobab, great place and met some great people, walking distance to town.

Report Check-In

camping 400mt pppn. prices at the bar and restaurant are ok, food is good. nice vibe.
when you camp all the way up under the baobab there can be noise at night (music playing from somewhere, traffic from the road), but it's not to bad.
laundry: 400mt for a small bag/pillowcase size.

I had a great 7 night stay here on my way up Mozambique, and just stopped in for the night now in my way back! Rebecca the manager is great and the staff are super friendly. The camps are nice, shaded and grassed, mostly on a bit of a slope which makes for some maneuvering for my RTT. Showers are warmed by a donkey so I had a couple of unpleasant cold ones, but most hot. Over all had a great stay.

Unfortunately friends I made here had $200 stolen from their room. Also had a guy showing a lot of interest in my camera, we thought he was completely friendly, but security came and threw him out. So be careful with your valuables.

Report Check-In

It was the low season, camping 400MTn/person. Shade, grass, palm trees and facilities close to the area (hot shower and toilet). Plugs to the bar, sympathetic staff. A great view on the ocean. We stayed only one night because we were looking for a place which is more “authentic”. I’m not sure that there is a common kitchen...

Report Check-In

Camping 600 per person.
Dorm 700 per person.

Report Check-In

Really likes this spot! Camped under large baobab and had great time in the beach for a day. Restaurant is nice too, reasonable prices, intermittent hot water in showers but a great place to stop in vilanculos

Report Check-In

Eh. If you stay in a private room and/or you have a car, probably a different experience. We booked over text for a male/female couple in a dorm. After we arrived and paid, we find out the dorms are not mixed sex, i.e. we need to be in separate dorms (probably something they should have told us first). Then a girl staying in the dorm tells us they've had money and a flashlight stolen from the dorms while she's been here. No handsoap in any bathrooms we used. A far walk from any reasonably priced food.
On the plus side, the WiFi works well, and the beach does look nice and is right out back.
But I wouldn't consider this the "best hostel in Mozambique" as Hostelworld does.

Report Check-In

Double room in small chalet for 2500mt which is a little bit expensive. Staff not very helpful and friendly. Laundry possible only when the weather is sunny. Kitchen is available but to use pots you have to pay deposit. Hot showers, bar, food quite good with reasonable prices. Baobab is ok but nothing special in my opinion.

Report Check-In

Great spot right on the beach with an amazing shaded common area with beautiful views. They have a multi level camp ground which while we were there was pretty full with overlanders. We ended up staying in one of their beachfront bungalows, which was around $50 a night not including breakfast, which was perfect for us. There are multiple bbqs around the property along with a kitchen for all guests to use, which was great. The bathrooms and showers for
the campsite looked nice and clean and there were plugs to plug in.

Highly reccommend staying here if you are in the area and reccommend taking the snorkeling trip to Bazaruto island of you have a little extra budget, as the snorkeling was better than most of the dives we have done.

Report Check-In

camped with 4x4 and roof tents. 400mkt per person just before high season prices kick in.
electric went early morning so no fridge power, Wi-Fi, or fridges in guest kitchen. no back up generator.
staff in general very nice. shame the place is lacking in many simple areas such as kitchen, shaded areas near beach, swimming pool care.
they did take visa and MasterCard and set up tabs which was good.
many electric points not working. simple things need sorting.
Would personally not recommend. planned 3 nights but left after first night. headed to villa di incos resort and spa.

Report Check-In

Not great. Camping is simple and overpriced (500 pppn), not a lot of space, music until late sometimes. Average showers, slow WiFi. Food and drinks also overpriced I thought, compared to the rest of the country. Backpacker place, “hey bro whe’re you from bro”-place. Not friendly, staff talking behind customer’s backs. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Report Check-In

Nice place with grassy, shady campsite. Sadly not directly by the beach. Still 400pppn. Ablutions were clean and the wifi worked well.

Report Check-In

It was a pleasant stay. Price M500 /pppn for camping, 2 people with a car.

Report Check-In

Place has a backpackers vibe. At 17.00 there is a breefing by staff about everything you can book, eat and rides to town.
Campsites are grassie but not all the places are flat. There is securety, but even so, a lot of people passing through the campsite whome are not staff. So, be carefull of your stuff. Also at the beach. Reception can give you a lot of information. Not all sites have electricity. Some plugs are to rusty to use.
Price we paid was 400Mt pp.
Beach was BIG disappointment. A lot of plastic, bottles, paper of cementbags and even glass from drinkingbottles, rusty covers of refridgerators. The shore was full of sea weeds. That is nature because of the season I think :-( Also a lot of locals on the beach.
We planned to stay for at least 2 nights but we left after one night.

Report Check-In

Might be very nice but not family friendly. All our kids (2/5/6) should pay full price of 500 MET for camping.
We went to Alemanha Backpackers not far from here. Very friendly and an absolutely different price philosophy.

Report Check-In

We were a little disappointed with this place, but it was very busy, sure it's nicer when quiet. Ablutions are ok, fairly clean and there is hot water. Friendly staff, quite well organised and good security. Campsite short walk down to beach. Good separate area for ground tents. Nice bar, food rather average. Probably better for backpackers than over landers. We paid 400Mts pppn.

Report Check-In

The first night was terrible noisy... loud music and many loud people, mostly Southafricans. I got 3 hours sleep
The second night was much better...
the place is nice and has much trees and shadow. the ablutions are basic, but very clean. the staff and the bosses are very friendly. wifi is not always available, if it does´nt work, try again a half hour later... the bar is fine and there is music playing the whole day, until 10 o´clock in the night. the beach is ok. water in the shower was always hot, the fire burns the whole day ! we payed 400 pppn

Report Check-In

Nice spot, campsite quite flat under a lot of shady trees. Hot showers, braai places, kitchen, pool, bar, restaurant. Nice beach. Ask Marina for information, Elder does fishing trips, ask at the bar. We paid 450$ for half day on a two-engine boat including everything.
Camping 7$pppn.

Report Check-In

The backpackers has dorms, huts and beach front chalets and a campsite area near the big baobab tree, enough space for ground tents and overlanding vehicles. Good ablutions with hot water. There is a basic kitchen with stoves and fridge and pans. Some braai areas are also available to braai a fresh fish which you can buy from local fishermen. Restaurant and bar available - try the pancakes with fruit for breakfast!

Report Check-In

Campsite is ok, on grassy patches with a nice big Baobab tree. Ablutions are simple, hot water seems to be difficult... Free Wi-Fi and free coffee/tea in the morning. Friendly people and Marina is a good manager who can give lots of information. She has a few places she recommends for excursions and food, but she makes money out of that as well... Camping Mt 400 pp

Report Check-In

Grassy place with terraces around large boabab. No seafront view from campsite, but the place is next to the beach. Sometimes noisy because of loud music played in the neighbourhood. Italian run. Internet unreliable. Good dish washing facilities.
MZN 300 per person, low season.

Report Check-In

Typical backpackers place right on the beach. Offers boat trips to Bazaruto Islands (quite expensive). Nice bar and restaurant with free wifi. There is also a swimming pool.

Report Check-In
